When I was 13 years old I grew up in a town called Valencia ( Now Santa Clarita ) California. This is the city that Magic Mountain is in. KISS sent out free tickets to all the local schools so we could come out and watch the filming of the concert scenes for Kiss meets the phantom of the park. My cousin and I along with a bunch of my friends are there and in the movie in the front row of the free concert that was held in the Magic Mountain parking lot !!!!

It's mainly that they tried to do do similar things with how they presented themselves. I think they did manage to achieve having the "four distinct personalities" thing they wanted to emulate from the Beatles; and they did obtain a rapid fanbase. Yeah, it's not like they were anywhere near as big as the Beatles, but you can see the inspiration.

@@carmenowens3375 The Beatles stopped touring in 1966. That was before Monterey, before Woodstock, before the Isle Of Wight festivals, before CSNY ushered in the age of stadium-only mega-tours in 1974, before actual sound technology specifically for rock concerts was developed, before The Who and The Grateful Dead pioneered modern sound reenforcement systems. The Who and the Dead had bigger monitor systems just to hear themselves on stage than The Beatles could use to unsuccessfully attempt to be heard by the entire audience in Shea Stadium or Candlestick Park. Comparing attendance records from 1966 to those from 1976 is like bragging that Usain Bolt could run faster in 2016 than Thomas Burke at the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. It completely ignores historical context. The rock concert business exploded in that decade, PA systems were developed, light shows became a thing, people like Bill Graham developed modern concert promoting in that decade. If the Beatles had still been around during the original Kiss lineup's heyday, they would have played the biggest football stadiums available at the time. Kiss were a very successful arena band. The Beatles would have outdrawn Kiss five-to-ten to one everywhere.

Ace did some good solo stuff that wasn't as great as it could have been. Their solo careers didn't amount to much. Peters amounted to a big nothing, Ace's stuff only appeals to people who were already Kiss fans. Paul was right when he said that drugs destroyed their talent and pointed out how they got lazy

Listening to Ace & Peter in their own words it’s no wonder Gene & Paul got so frustrated working with them. Paul definitely took it personally and that’s likely due to childhood challenges and his own upbringing. He’s let it become a bit too much over the years but I get it and had I lived it I’d likely be just as resentful and angry.

I love KISS but they straight up disrespect the disco queen Donna Summer way too much and underrate her. She was twice as big and important to casablanca and `10 times more important to the general music scene in the late 70s than KISS. They, Gene and Paul, did not really say any of this until after she died, cowardly and conveniently when she could not set the record straight. If Donna were still living, she would give some interesting perspective on a lot Gene and Paul's memories. Anyone readings, please remember that Gene constantly says that KISS sold more than`100 million records when every other organization and person documents that they sold at most 30 million. That is still a lot of records, but it shows how big Gene's ego is and how flawed his memory/logic is these days; it is so flawed it seems deliberate.
