I remember a video of Glen himself saying that his introduction as Kane in 1997 was one of the best stories ever written in the WWE. I'm one that agrees. I think this return story was one of the best ever written too. Glen did an amazing job carrying the story in the weeks prior to Wrestlemania, I remember watching in sheer awe of him. I believe Glen was an amazing talent often overlooked/overshadowed by other competitors. He definitely belongs in the top 10 greatest of all time.

He absolutely is one of the best he could do it all.He might of got slighted a bit because of all the great talent that was there. He carried those promos which isnt that easy when your doing them basically by yourself and he sold the hell outtaf everyone of them espically his facial expressions.Taker and Kane had great chemistry when competing against each other and even better as the brothers of destruction.Goodtimes.

I remember watching this live and getting goosebumps. It was one of my favorite wrestling memories ever. Bringing back the deadman character while keeping some of the ABA traits was the right choice- it got rid of some of the cheesier aspects of the old deadman character that, while I personally loved them, probably were near the end of their shelf life. A perfect example of one of the all-time greats evolving with his audience. (For the record, I had a ton of love for the ABA character too!)

I'm probably the lone wolf out of my friends that actually favored Biker Taker, and that's not to say I didn't love the Deadman as well. It's so iconic. This "hybrid" was cool, but they did away with it fast. I noticed that fact when on the fallout episode of SD following WM, when Taker came to the ring and delivered a Tombstone to SD GM Paul Heyman, he was rockin the bandana underneath his hat. That was the last time we'd see Taker wearing a bandana until the Boneyard Match vs Styles. With the exception of that episode of SD, I viewed everything from 2004 and beyond as simply further evolution of the Deadman character.

We had 2 of my other female cousins over who were around the same age as us and they were into wrestling too. Watched it on my grandparents giant screen tv. We had popcorn made and everything lol. As a kid who adored WMXIX, I couldn't wait for WMXX and it was largley because of the way they built to this return. It's simple yet effective and the best part of building anticipation is that they never showed you what Taker would look like until he walked down the ramp at Mania, which encourages you to buy the show and tune in! Now a days they'd probably have him show up on a random Raw 2 weeks before the show tomb stoning Kane killing any mystique or desire to see him for the first time at Mania laying hands on his rival.

This was my first time seeing The Undertaker in this gimmick. I was just too young for before Biker Taker. And I was just stunned to silence during the entrance. Ridiculous, but terrifying 👌

This version of the Deadman is fantastic. It was the best decision to progress the Undertaker and not just regress into the slow moving zombie. I like how he was still fast paced while also using the phenom gimmick.

He could've combined the 2 gimmicks together. Like a Ghostrider kinda theme entrance. The arena go dark riding a motorcycle through the smoke and flames to a dark ass heavy metal music.

After this I consider the next era to be the last undertaker era, his status as a wwe veteran and legend. Either helping push new talent over, or taking a “top spot” whenever he’s needed to push a shows ratings.

I remember being 14 and pissed that Kane helped McMahon bury the Undertaker alive. Once the mind games started at the Royal Rumble I was excited because I wanted to see a return of the dark side. Wrestlemania XX will go down as his best return. If was all around a great wrestlemania especially with Eddie and Chris at the end celebrating in the ring

4:30 I think he was frustrated. Because with the Deadman gimmick he used perform in the ring in a certain way in which he rarely ever got to show his wrestling chops. With the Big Evil and everything he could shed some of those restrictions. And with the 2004 return, he basically made it a hybrid version.

I loved the american badass gimmick but the deadman gimmick is solid gold, that's the Undertaker that I loved watching. Love how the Undertaker used both gimmicks in the bone yard match tho, that was epic.

Does anyone else remember when someone created a fictional story about The Undertaker's gimmick changes? It tells of this tough biker called Mark Callaway who dies in a bike crash. Years later, Callaway returns as The Undertaker thanks to some resurrecting voodoo by Papa Shango who's paid by The Million Dollar Man. MDM dubs the resurrected Callaway The Undertaker and brings him to Survivor Series. Over the years, Undertaker would fall deeper and deeper into the world of the occult to try and find out who he was. After years of searching, he remembers who he once was and returns to being a biker. After being buried alive at the hands of Kane, Callaway calls upon the dark forces that he once left behind to get revenge. This new Undertaker would be a mix of The Undertaker that MDM created and the original man, Mark Calloway. Thus bringing us to The Undertaker we see from 2004 onward.

I grew up with the original Undertaker and saw when he debuted for WWE. But my favorite character of his was the American Bada$$. It so much more potential and so much more story to me. I’m not surprised he wanted to stick with it. It’s so much easier to be yourself and just have fun instead of doing set up spots.
