Im 32 years old. I long for a friend like this man, kind full of stories and knowledge. I just found the channel I'm already a big fan.

He reminds me a lot of an old WWII vet I once knew, who survived pearl harbor. Gave me a ton of good advice and just had a calm, friendly demeanor and he always had a wise perspective on things. In a world where there is so much less wisdom and kindness now, I think we all need a wiser, more experienced older person to turn to for advice. A rare gift these days, alas.

It's rather charming to see an old chappie enjoying quiet time in the comfort of his stuffy library, immersing himself in billowing clouds of smoke, holding his precious pipe

These videos have only confirmed to me that my goal in life is to cultivate a library space for reflection and wonder like this one. I adore Malcolm's reverence for the old words, mythologies and legends in a world which seems increasingly intent on losing touch with them. As long as this man's pipe is lit, the flame will be kept alive!

The first time I stumbled upon your channel - two weeks back - I imagined and entertained the thought that you lived just down the street, and that I was always welcomed to drop by for a sip of superior whiskey and a full pint of heartfelt storytelling... well, here I am - with my own beverage in hand - and here you are welcoming me into your study to indulge my wishful whims! Wonderful, Sir... thankyou for the invite!

Good Morning from Las Vegas. It’s about a half past 8 in the morning and I walked out to the patio with a mug of coffee and a pipe of C&D’s The Beast to a rich opulent treat as I ponder the day. Sat here and lit my pipe and opened my iPad and found this video. What a good way to start my day off. Cheers Malcolm

Malcolm thank you and God bless you and Maggie. I am exactly your age, a pipe smoker of lovely old Petersons and a writer. I have written one book and am attempting to get started on my second. You inspire me with every one of your videos. I feel as if I am sitting in your library as I sit in mine, having a smoke and sometimes a glass and staring at my Parker Sonnet and I have finally thanks to you picked it up and began. Cheers my brother in Christ and thank you again.

Your channel has encouraged me to write some poetry again and also make the change over from cigars to the pipe. I wrote this poem about 15 years ago and revised it the other night. I'll share it here for anyone who'd care to read. Lomond We were but an ancient prayer, Yet our shared time's now thin as air. Our reverence, lost like whispers in the wind. Gradually, you fade, as memories rescind. Now all's encased in thought's intricate lace, Our life now splits, like strands parting space. You, now merely history, a shadow cast, The spark extinguished, in the past amassed. Those years we meshed, side by side, Against every norm, we'd proudly stride. Not a day shone brighter, under clouds and sky, My friend, 'tis time, a heartfelt goodbye. As I wander into the wild, where myths are spun, Farewell, my sweet youth, our era's done. In the heart of the isle, our tales will blend, Goodbye, till we meet, near this rainbow's end.

I often contemplate the state of the world 🌎 whilst in deep prayer to God, there is nothing more fascinating than to look up into the heavens and have a conversation with Christ. I would love to be seated on a throne like chair on the edge of a tall mountain with my pipe and conversation with the most high, and a little drink to, fathoming eternity and so much more.

It only occurred to me whilst you were reading this just how profound this episode in Narnia is! Dragons are the epitome of selfishness (sitting on their horde of gold without a care in the world for others), and Eustace is initially such a 'nails-on-a-blackboard' type of character due to his selfishness. It is only when he finally sees himself as a beastly dragon, for all his faults and sins of selfishness that he is able to accept Aslan. Aslan (God) sees the real Eustace underneath that scaly skin of his and is able to tear through it all and baptise him in his love. After reading Lewis's 'Mere Christianity' and 'Miracles' it is beautiful to see his ideas in their narrative form in Narnia. Thanks for sharing the reading, Malcolm!
