I love my '47 CJ2A and I couldn't help but laugh when the narrator said that television has been perfected!

I miss the days when we looked forward to the future with enthusiasm, like a big steak dinner. Now we look at it like broccoli.

And it's a damn shame what the Jeep has become with its newest model, the JK. Mostly sold as a soccer mom's mini luxury SUV. I can understand appealing to a broader market... but wasn't Willys idea for the Jeep to be simple and practical? Since when was XM radio, the ability to do 100+ MPH, and removable doors that weigh a ton, too much to take off and put on daily "simple" or "practical". I hate the new Jeeps, I'll keep to my CJ2A and memories of my YJ any day of the week.

Sadly ,Joe never realized his dream of using a jeep on his farm, when soon after this commercial he stepped on a land mine.

Why exactly didnt the CJ2A jeep work ? It seems like a perfect idea to me .. A car which can work in limited capacity as a tractor .. any one know specific reasons why it failed ?

I predict, in the future Jeeps will have stereophonic music players, and electrical windshield wipers. They will have engines that contain two extra cylinders for the power needed in a brave new world.

The term, "Universal Jeep," covers all models CJ, YJ, TJ. My question is, does it cover the JK? All Universal Jeeps have been four wheel drive. The JK is four wheel drive optional. That confuses me. Is a JK a Universal Jeep? Then again the DJ line was a two wheel drive Jeep. Some regard it as a Universal Jeep, some do not. The DJ line was not offered to the public. They were company vehicles for the post office and hotels. The JK is offered to the public but not all have 4x4.

The term was associated with the very beginning of the CJ2-A by Willys-Overland in ads from 1945, the first year of the civilian CJ. The very last mention that I can find of it in ads that I have is a late fall 1970 just after AMC acquired the Jeep brand from Kaiser, who had carried in with the 'Universal' badge. Later on in AMC's ownership the term was no longer used and wouldn't apply to the YJ, TJ or JK. You can see the ads here... tinyurl dot com/tojacjads

As we outsource American jobs, allow banks to give loans to those who have poor credit history's and entered into a global market. Farmers are run out by corporate farms that use methods that endanger the environment and the life of those who buys goods from it. The outsourcing has benefited on slave labor in foreign lands, yet the price of the goods remain the same as when Americans did it, yet quality now suffers. Doesn't the future look brighter, Jeep is government owned again. (Bailout) LMAO
