Julie is a cherished friend. She always told me I was “a perfect expression of God”. That’s how she sees everyone. That’s how she sees everything in nature and each bloom in her garden. I cherish her garden tours when she examines a leaf or a petal and describes it with wonder and delight. A life so well-lived! Julie is grace and beauty personified!

@user-zy3zd3sx2d Totally agree! Attractive short women are pretty but attractive tall women are striking. Julie is also not a stick, with all the right curves in all the right places. Add in that skin tight costume and how she moved around Adam West and I have no idea how he kept himself under control. A former boss of mine had a beautiful secretary that was about 6' 3" tall. Very striking. Not Julie Newmar level but very striking nonetheless. All due respect to Lee Merriweather and Eartha Kitt but they can't hold a candle to Julie.

I want to thank all of you for sticking with me through this year! 2023 has been rough! I was sick from March through August. As most of you know, when you are not feeling good, it takes everything you have, just to go to work and take care of the normal stuff. Since I do lawn care and work outside, those were the WORST months to be dealing with health problems. I was worn out, stressed out and worrying about everything. I have had a lot of health issues in my life, including 2 open heart surgeries. Right now things seem to be getting better, and the doctors are on top of it. I started this video in September and just finished it a few days before uploading it. If the style seems a little different, that is probably because I am 8 months out of practice 🤣 Here are some more Freaky Facts about me. I was born June 12th 1971 so that makes me 52 years old. That means that I grew up with reruns of the 50's (I Love Lucy, Leave it To Beaver) and the 60's (All of the Cool Classics), then got to experience the 70's and 80's firsthand. They call my generation Gen X. I call us lucky 😁 My parents were born in the 1920's and they met at my father's 7-year-old birthday party, dated in high school, married and stayed together forever. My Father was also in the Navy for the last couple years of World War II I tell you all of this, because I feel connected to all of these timelines. I get a lot more out of the older movies and television shows than just nostalgia. It is hard to explain, but it makes my life more peaceful in a way. If you want to see what I look like, well I do appear in my Agnes Moorehead video (Endora from Bewitched) Also, I have read every single comment that has appeared on this channel (but I may not have replied because I was working) Special shoutout to the people that have sent me a Super Thanks on this channel! Freaky Fact, when you send a super thanks, KZbin sends a special notification to the creator. It is kind of like if you have ever hit notifications on a channel, how it pops up on your phone when they upload. Well, these super thanks are like that, but they boldly display the comment the person left. I must say, that you are all some of the nicest people I have run across on KZbin. You should be proud of yourself for all of the kind things that you have said about the people that I have covered and the nice stuff you have said about me. 💜💜💜💜💜 Take Care, you Cool Classics 😁

One of the shows they play is called (CBS Radio mystery theater) it ran in the 70's and 80s. My Dad turned me on to that one. Some of the shows on the channel date back to the 30s! Some even leave in the old commercial and news clips! I think you'll like it! Enjoy!

Watching her as a kid in the Batman series, now 62 1/2; I did not realize how amazing her physical symmetry, facial beauty of a goddess and intelligence coupled with grace that was simply off the charts. Nor did i understand her impact on the film industry landing the role as Cat Woman. I bet she did not exchange flesh for advancement and guarded her dignity and reputation, therefore I speculate, she was marginalized in the industry but increadibly impossible to ignore her appeal! The fact she stood tall as a Woman and looked down at a majority of men, must of been intimidating along with her masculine confidence! Two brothers remained close to her family and passed up on instant fame, with Luis, says everything about her character and personal confidence! Thanks for opening my eyes to an amazing human being.

Yes! I was born in 1970 and when I was about 8, I got a ViewMaster for Christmas. (Toy with little slides and a story book and you'd look into the viewfinder and could see the picture with both eyes and it looked full-size.) It came with slide-disks and you could buy more. A couple that came with it were Batman ones. There were a few pictures of Julie Newmar as Catwoman in there and I was absolutely spellbound by her. I was 8 and she was just amazing to me. She was also the villainess on a few episodes of the TV show Jason of Star Command and that had my full attention. Her costume on that show was a pink and purple leotard, whoever designed that costume has my undying gratitude.

Thank you for all your great videos! You do much research and your videos are informative and professional. Glad you’re back and hope health issues are resolved. Also hope heart surgeries helped and you lead a happy, healthy life. Julie has been a wonderful friend for 50 plus years. She is not only extraordinarily intelligent, multi-talented, and gorgeous, but is also an incredible human being. I hope you got the opportunity to interview Julie. I wrote Julie a fan letter when I was a kid. She wrote back, and her encouragement helped me get through some difficult times. I was a student at UCLA when Julie had little John. I moved in with her and helped her with child care. I ended up staying for 10 years. All 10 of those years were lovely. I eventually went on to teach children with special needs. John was born with multiple challenges including a heart condition. He lost his hearing at age two due to a bout with meningitis. Julie and I studied American Sign Language. Julie has made sure that John has always had a Deaf caregiver. She and John are an active part of the Deaf community. Julie has been a wonderful friend through both thick and thin. She drove me home from the hospital after I was ill. She attended my birthday parties and family celebrations. Julie has treated me to many vacations and trips, including an incredible trip to Paris where she was a celebrity model for the infamous 1995 Thierry Mugler anniversary show. She traded in her first class tickets so I could have free airfare. With her long, long legs she really needed that leg room she sacrificed for me. That trip and that show were nothing less than awesome! Few teachers ever get a treat like that! You might want to add Julie’s celebrity modeling to your video. She and Thierry Mugler also made the music video “Too Funky” for George Michael at this time. Julie’s garden is a great love in her life, second to John. It is relatively small, but every inch is beautiful. She put in “Secret Gardens” for John, including an Alice in Wonderland gate. This gate is mirrored so he can see a Wonderland garden beyond the gate. As a young child, John loved exploring hidden corners of the garden and all the little surprise visual treats his mother left for him. Julie and John still live a blissful life together. Julie is 90 now and both of “the Js” have had some health challenges, but remain lovely people with great wisdom and love in their hearts. I’ve felt extremely lucky that they’ve been a part of my life. Thank you for honoring her with a video! Again, she is a truly extraordinary person!

Julie Newmar impressed me as one of the sexiest women alive. I was married at the time, with a couple of kids, but Newmar had a pretty face, a feminine voice, and a physical female body that surely was THE model of perfection. Her Catwoman costume was like a sprayed-on skin that conformed to every curve, shape, and nuance that such was my ideal of perfection. Then she fell off my radar until this KZbin video, and my old memories came rolling back on me. Now, at age 78, married to a woman from my own generation and quite happy with her, my memories of the Julie Newmar Catwoman are resurrected, and Remain unchanged! Her loyalty and dedication to her son speak volumes to her character. She won't be with us forever, but in a variety of ways she entertained us and added joy to our lives! God bless her!

Wow! I never knew why she quit her role as Catwoman. I never knew about her son. She appears to be the epitome of aging gracefully. Now when I watched Batman it was already well into syndication. But I will give her credit for my attraction to tall intelligent athletic women when I was younger. So Robin had it right . HOLY MUSH!

This video was so entertaining and I enjoyed reading about you. I’m sorry you’ve been sick and wish for you better health in the future. My dad was a radar operator on a destroyer the USS Robinson in the Pacific during WW2. Your videos are so polished and professional!

My Gosh! Thank You So Much! That was Super generous of you! I am glad to get to hear about your Father too. He was from the Greatest Generation and served his country proudly. 🫡 I am glad that you enjoy my videos and think that they sound professional. The truth is, I started making them in 2020 because I was watching a lot TV and looking actors up online and was amazed at their stories. My first 30 videos were not very good. First I learned how to make the pictures fit full screen. Then how to make them move. Then how to add a video clip. Then how to fade them all together and add music. Then I bought a microphone instead of using the laptop mic. I also started learning what all of you liked from me the most. Tell their story in chronological order, have the pictures match the timeline and find as many clips as I can. Then the little freaky connections and facts I find.. Well you all like those too. 😁 I work all day, then try and do at least an hour on the video before I turn on some classics and wind down. It is easy to be insecure about my voice, grammar and speaking skills, but so many of you have been super kind to me, and that is what keeps me going. I felt like sharing my editing progression with you, because you or somebody else might enjoy it. Again, thank you so much for being Super Cool! 💜

Thank you for this great tribute!! Julie was one of my most favorite actresses as a child. I remember seeing her first in "My Living Doll", and absolutely loving her Catwoman character. I would always immediately recognize her when she played a part in my favorite shows (like Star Trek, that scene you played is one of the most memorable of the whole show! 😂

I remember Julie in so many of her TV and movie appearances. I wish I had seen her on Broadway. What really touched me was was her garden for her son. I have an autistic grandson. My husband and I are renovating our garden and she has inspired me to make a wonderland garden for him. He loves to work in patterns and circles so finding a wonderful pattern or circle for him to explore and also find surprises on the way through his expropriations intrigues me and I hope him as well. Thank you for showing her life and her journey. She is an inspiration.

I’ve never really been starstruck, but Julie Newmar is amazing. I’ve liked so much that she’s done and she’s done pretty much. Most of my favorite shows had no idea. She’s six to same height as me that’s pretty cool. I’m glad she’s still around taking care of her son, and, helping with other families that have children with down syndrome that’s awesome. She truly is a gift to the world.

Wow, she sounds like a wonderful woman! She had a lot to be grateful for, but never took any of it for granted! When Hollywood wanted her to "fit in" with them, or she wouldn't be given the big offers that other people "in the club" would get, she didn't sell out. She didn't land major film roles at first, but it didn't bother her because she knew she didn't need them! She had all she needed already. :) Then, success came her way naturally! Very few people are gifted with such blessings and don't lose sight of their morals throughout the dizzying heights! She ought to be an inspiration to everyone! Thank you so much for this well-made video! 😊

When I first saw 'My Living Doll' in 1964 I was 8yo. I didn't know women came so beautiful and statuesque, and I thought her co-star Robert Cummings had to be the luckiest man in the entire world. Two years later seeing her as Catwoman my destiny to be an exclusively heterosexual cis-male was forever etched in stone. Currently, the Tubi streaming service offers 10 episodes of My Living Doll to enjoy. Ms. Newmar developed some good comedy chops on that show. Thank you for this biography; Julie Newmar has been a favorite of mine my whole life.

Here’s a few more tidbits about Julie: Her friendship with Russ Tamblyn started when they appeared together in “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” and continues to this day. He began his career as a child star and went on to costar in films like “Westside Story”. Julie starred with Joel Grey in the national touring company of “Stop the World, I Want to Get Off”. She sang, danced, and played 3 characters. The show and it’s songs were written by Joan Collins’ husband Anthony Newley and included “What Kind of Fool Am I”, “Gonna Build A Mountain”, and “For Once in a Lifetime”. Newley also wrote “The Candy Man” for the original Willie Wonka film. Another of Julie’s friends is the pioneering African American artist Betye Saar. She is 97 and her work is in the collections of all the major modern art museums. Betye’s work is powerful!

I first discovered her due to her amazing (yet crushingly brief) tenure as Catwoman, but it is pleasing to learn that she was/is pretty much the embodiment of the concept of the 'ubermensch', at least in my eyes 😍 what an inspiring woman.
