Twist: This all was a hallucination from the shit he was smoking out of his pipe and the pills he was popping due to stress from is daughter's death due to a home invader. The ending was him slicing his hands up due to finally losing it.

so basically in his mind he is being punished for allowing her to die ( how ever she might of passed .. which might be how yaw said) i find it interesting that the monster was wearing what the girl wore as if its her haunting him . and maybe by the end he came to some sort of acceptance as his compulsion had stopped. i kinda dont think this is literal .. but it very well could be

The Demon was the truth and he was scared of having to face the truth but he finally scratched the itch and cut his hands off. A very severe case of self harm. But it cleared his mind. And he accepted the truth on his daughter's death. But to be left alone with a movie playing? NO! GET SOME ACTUAL HELP!
