Yeah the entire love triangle thing was just terribly written and felt so forced. And at no point did she ever string along either guy with chances of there being a romance ( until she suddenly decides she likes tyler completely out of the blue and kissed him in the very late episodes. ) when tyler made that bullshit accusation she was making it very clear she just wanted his help with either getting out of town or in pursuing the case. The stupid romance plot is definitely something that should have been axed.

Wednesday is most adaptions is 10-11 years old... it makes sense when she becomes a teenager she has an interest in rebelling for no real reason and dating she's never been portrayed having before. Teenagers frequently develop bitterness towards their parents because they hate not being independent, and 13-16 is usually where people develop a real interest in actual dating. I have to disagree with people in the comments here about her being ace/her being rebellious, it's totally normal for a 16 year old to be experiencing these things.

Is it a love triangle? Xavier seems actively disliked by Wednesday even once referring to him as "suffering". He's definitely into her but it is definitely not both ways. He's acting like a stalker. Really if a guy you've shown no interest in turns out to have drawn a large portrait of you in his private studio, you may want to look into a restraining order. This also plays into the main plot as Xavier's creepier aspects make him a suspect. As for Taylor. He's not a true love interest either. His motivations are far more dark. His date with her was a distraction so that Thornhill could trash Wednesday's room and take the diary. He's manipulating her the entire time and he does such a good job that Wednesday misses clues. ( like that Thornhill likely found out she had the diary because she trusted Taylor enough to show it to him ) His "romance" was a plot point of the conspiracy. The only real love interest is Wednesday and Enid and that appears to be platonic. For now.

(Spoilers) I like that it's implied that Tyler was just following orders, so that particular relationship kinda makes sense. It shows how Wednesday thinks she is the smartest and bc she isn't great at emotions it would make sense for that to be where she is blindsided by betrayal. It's xavier where it gets weird for me. In theory showing someone with interest in her is cool, but she doesn't seem to like him as anything more that a piece of the puzzle! So having them become friends by the end was really weird for me as i didnt think there was enough actual connection there (at least not yet). I would have loved to see it more clearly that they both kind of apologised to each other, and then just left on good/neutral terms. I think it ending with Enid giving her a phone would make more sense (even if it's been established that her family may not be as well of as xaviers). I very much agree with many of the comments that I think Wednesday would be a fantastic ace character, just based on my on personal interpretation, but you could also make the case for demi, as she doesn't really connect with many people but she seemed to connect with Tyler after having a deeper (or as deep as the storyline would go) personal connection to him.

Tyler was just annoying as heck to watch chase after wednesday, and he seemed to not know her at all. Also like- Man looked dead at the end. Enid went ham on him, how is he still alive? Enid deserves the world honestly. Her and Wednesday's friendship felt so real, and there was build up to the hug as well. That hug ment everything to my holy heck. They helped eachother grow and I'd be lying if I said that I don't think Wednesday has bit of a soft spot for her by the end. If they stay friends, I'm cool with it. If they become more, I'd be happy to watch.

One thing that made me feel like Tyler was lying is when he “almost got killed” by the monster, but he was like “But I’m fine girl I’ll still fuck with you 😏” like WHAT. I was thinking either he’s insane or there’s something fishy going on. Like Xavier, even though he was attracted to Wednesday, still pushed her away when she started pushing boundaries, but Tyler over here is still staying with Wednesday after getting slashed by a fucking Hyde. All other characters who wanted to interact with Wednesday all had their moments where they could recognize her flaws and pushing back in the process, but Tyler just, never pushed back? Maybe this “loyalty” was supposed to be interpreted as “Aw! Someone who actually trusts Wednesday for who she is!” but all it gave me was suspicion instead.

Going to the dance and kissing Tyler never felt really genuine to me. Especially when she did a complete 180 after finding out Taylor was the monster and straight up started torturing the guy. That just screams that she liked him right??? Not to mention how she showed no actual deeper connection to either him or Xavier and visa versa. But she did with Enid, Bianca, and Eugene along with an actual dynamic. Maybe it's because they all had ACTUAL personalities while Xavier and Tyler barely did outside of liking Wednesday. And they kept trying to push her into having feelings for them (seriously, I need a microscope to spot those hints Wednesday was apparently dropping for Tyler). Even getting jealous or feeling betrayed when they saw the other around her, like she was playing them. "Lord, give me the confidence of a mediocre white man" comes to mind when I think of this love triangle and that's a sad, sad thing.

Yeah, exactly, the most unnecessary love triangle I've ever witnessed. Also, I do think that there are at least a tiny chance that Wednesday and Enid end up being a couple. Enid is inmensely queer coded on the series, her mother wanted to send her to a conversion therapy... and just today I watched a therapist analize Enid's character, and yeah, she said that those camps were definitely the ones were you send childs to change their sexual orientation. This I mention it because people get too pressed about it and start saying the camp was just for a werewolve thing... it was not, the message was very clear. There are also so many parallels between Gomez, Morticia, the stalker of Morticia and Tyler, Wednesday and Enid! The creepy guy who wanted Morticia/Wednesday? Tyler, and the one who truly loves her and saves her at the end? ENID. Also a very scene from a movie from the 90s where Thing goes looking for Gomez when Morticia was in trouble, the line Gomez said when Thing was trying to tell him what happend was "Slow down, it's terrible when you stutter!". This reminded a lot of people to the scene where Thing goes looking for Enid to help Wednesday! When Thing was telling Enid what happened she said "Slow down, what happend?!". A lot of fans don't know about this because it happend like a month before the show was released, but Netflix released a photo of an Ofrenda for "Día de los Muertos". It was a full photo of skulls of the whole Addams Family, there was Gomez, Morticia, Pugsley, Uncle Fester and Wedneday. You see, believe it or not they also put a skull for Enid! And the post said "Putting an ofrenda for The Addams Family". That made a lot of people believe Enid would then become something more for Wednesday than just friendship. It may not end up happening, but I definitely think Enid and Wednesday would make a very beautiful couple, and come on, Enid was always kind and tried to understand Wednesday even when they were so different. She never pushed her to be someone she didn't want to be, not like the boys literally gaslighting her into believing what they had was more than just friendship!

None of her friends were murdered though. The Thing was stabbed by Christina ricci's character, because Tyler had taken Wednesday on a date to distract her so they could ransacked her room. Eugene was attacked by the Hyde though and that could be what holds her back from ever forgiving Tyler but we'll see in season 2. I personally see Wednesday and Enid as best friends or sisters so having them be romantic would be weird. If they really want her to be queer, bring in a new love interest cause none of them are right for Wednesday... And it does look like they are pushing Xavier despite that they have not built a single good reason why Xavier likes Wednesday. Nor did they ever show her reciprocating his feelings.

I still find this love triangle very unique and somewhat effective. It’s unique because usually love triangles work like this: main love interest and the lead love interest fight each other for the love of the female protagonist, female protagonist then has to choose who to be with, and 100% of the time she chooses the main love interest. In the series the dynamic is obviously very different: Tyler seems like the main love interest and Xavier seem like the lead because she interacts more with Tyler instead of Xavier; then we think that Tyler is definitely the one when Wednesday turns against Xavier and gets him arrested, so there’s no way we could ever imagine them together when they dislike each other very much at this point; obviously, towards the end, there’s the big plot twist which reveals Tyler being the villain who just tricked and manipulated Wednesday the whole time, so now it’s these two who dislike each other and definitely cannot end up together. During the ending, we’d think that she’ll have her sweet reunion with Xavier, but they didn’t and instead she focused a lot on her and Enid, making him a secondary character to Wednesday. Here I’ll explain what I think about its effectiveness: for all of us it seems very unlikely that Wednesday could ever find herself in a love triangle, but I find it at least 50% plausible. Of course I don’t think she’s the romantic type, but we’ve never experienced a Wednesday in her late teens, so this love triangle could symbolise this new stage in her life as a girl who’s almost reaching adulthood. Obviously, I’ll never know what they will do with the future seasons so I shouldn’t trust the process blindly, but I think this ambiguous love triangle is a pretty good start to start exploring this new Wednesday and her experience with love and relationships.

The Xavier and Tyler thing is creepy as f*ck to me. In reality they would easily be called creeps or stalkers. She shows absolutely no romantic interest at all to either of them. I really hope they'll do season 2 without Wednesday going in to any romantic relationship at all. Not because she might be aroace, not having met the right guy/girl or whatever, but because it would be super refreshing with a show where people can be platonic. If you're counting the movie as canon with the show then keypoints are that she said man and that her parents relationship is one where Gomez is subservient. Gomez is Morticia's slave and proudly so. So she could've just meant that she thinks that's a pathetic life for a man. Also Wednesday is coded to not understand other's feelings in general, not just love. So it's more likely to be psychopathy or autism or antisocial disorder. Can still be aro/ace since that's not mutually exclusive from mental disorders. Also Morticia said she was just like Wednesday until she fell in love with Gomez. So she could just not have developed that part of herself yet. Late bloomers aren't uncommon. Some people really have no interest in romance until after high school or late high school.

I just finished watching the show. In my opinion, the writers didn't do well in terms of writing relationships and even friendships. Wednesday and Enid are really cute to see together and so many people even ship them (me included), but truth is we feel something for them because we can put them into a trope. Sunshine x Grumpy trope to be exact. When you really look at the show, they didn't have much build-up for us to feel a bond between them. In fact, none of the relationships did! I feel like they tried to go for the "bad guy vs. cute guy" with Xavier and Tyler but it didn't work, because again, no build-up. They didn't properly go into depth with their characters, we can't feel anything. Whenever either of them make a move on Wednesday, it makes the viewer feel like some interactions have happened behind the scenes to make Tyler, Xavier or even Wednesday feel the way they do.

The problem is its all one-sided cause Wednesday doesn't reciprocate like, at all. Enid and Wednesday did work together for the race and I think that really helped in building their friendship and understanding each other. I also think Tyler did have some build up. Both he and Wednesday were trapped in a small town and wanted to run away. Without knowing what Tyler was, you could make the argument he offered her a ride because he understood the desperation of wanting to get away. And then he was so intrigued by her, he wanted to get to know her more and starred liking her. Of course, at the end it's revealed the real reason why he was pushing Wednesday so hard to go to the dance and date him.

I am asexual aromantic and honestly that's story makes a lot of sense. It does happen to us that sometimes people will assume we're sending signals when we're not. It is a problem because people look at another person and they just assumed that somehow they're on the market if they're not already taken and sometimes that person is just not on the market because they choose not to be. It does not stop other people from looking at you and assuming you're sending out some sort of signal that they are into you if you're just friendly. It's a really valid situation to put Wednesday in a situation where there are two people pining over her and saying that she's sending signals when she's not. Then they get all upset and hurt when she's realizing this and shoots them down. It's a really real situation. I related to it a lot.

I'm coming at this from the perspective of an ace lesbian that's also on the aro spectrum, but I have mixed feelings about Wednesday being aroace canonically. On one hand, representation is great, but I also don't want the "aroace people are emotionless 'weirdos"" stereotype to be overdone in media, and I feel like Wednesday would play into that too well. Because of that, I feel like Wenclair is/would be an interesting dynamic to go with because of their ability to push each other and grow in different ways. Enid becomes a little more devious and gains confidence doing things with Wednesday and is finally able to wolf out because of Wednesday being in danger. Wednesday learns to care about someone while still retaining her personality and independence, and I feel like that shows a lot about he character. There's a major shift from the first episode with her trying to escape the school, to the middle of the season with her staying for the mystery, and more towards the end with her building bonds with Eugene and caring about Enid to the point where she **pulled her back into a hug**. I feel like actually good lesbian representation is so very very *very* hard to find in the media and this dynamic is so perfect and would be such good representation because of how it naturally developed through the character and actor chemistry. Wednesday can also be aro, ace, or both and still be a lesbian! It's not mutually exclusive. It just seems sometimes like people headcanon her as aroace because she's relatively emotionless and that's just not what being aroace is. Anyway that's my spiel. As much as a wrote about it here, I don't care which way they go as long as it's not with one of the love triangle options... we haven't seen the last of Tyler and they're still hinting at a possibility with Xavier. Here's to hoping for no love triangle shenanigans next season haha

i walked into this show not expecting a triangle love drama tbh. In the end, i felt like Wednesday has more emotional connection with Enid and Eugene respectively than both Tyler and Xavier combined. (Spoiler) She wasn't even upset or felt betrayed when she knew Tyler's true identity, but girlie was devastated when it came to Enid and Eugene

She really gives me ace/aro vibes (granted, I may be biased as I am also on romantic and asexual spectrum), though I see why people ship her with Enid. I still prefer them as friends though. What I was most annoyed about when it comes to her interactions with the guys is that implication that "opening up to people and accepting them into your life" automatically means "you must also find romance ane be open up to it," that the show gave me. Kind of making it seem like her rejecting Typer and Xavier was a "bad thing" and accepting the date and romance with Tyler was a "good thing". And, as you pointed out, she never gave me the vibe of someone who is rejecting them because she is afraid of romance or something. She just doeasn't give a fuck. People do need other people in our lives, friends, family whether biological or chosen/found family. But this implication that you'resomehow colder or closed off or not a full person because you are not romantically interested in people has been used against me personally (by my former psychologist no less, acephobia in medical system is rampant)

Yeah.... Wednesday and Enid have a better relationship because they are FRIENDS. I feel like people take for granted how necessary a good best friend is for any girl, but especially Wednesday who tends to isolate herself. Enid is important as a platonic best friend, it shows that Wednesday can make meaningful, close relationships without any ulterior motives like the boys have. ALSO, Enid has a BOYFIREND! And they are literally so cute together, i would love to see them explored more! You guys are such a mess, can't just see a friendship and appreciate it for what it is.

Other friendships in the series aren't NEARLY as close, if ANY bc i don't even consider Bianca a friend at this point. Preach queen preach!!!!!! This was exactly my thoughts when I watched the show! I felt as though she had no chemistry with either of the boys in a romantic context (barely even platonic chemistry either) and they were acting so entitled to her! It just boiled my blood!!! But Enid and Wednesday had potential! They're literally so cute together, if a ship that has no chemistry can work then they will work amazingly! Also I saw that little nod to LGBTQ conversion camps with the lycanthropy conversion camp bit

I'd think, it would best serve the show and character if Wednesday remained on "Team Wednesday" for another while, coming into herself and the changes of puberty and all. And then, if you'd, like, put a gun to her head and made her choose, she'd... well, first she'd laugh and dare you to pull the trigger, then while you're confused she'd make you regret your life's choices, before slipping out, overwhelming you, torturing you a bit... and eventually she might say, "Well, while this was fun... Since you asked: I don't believe in having only value in life for having a relationship or that I need one to elevate myself in any way. But... right, okay, if you'd ask me with which of those other three I would like to engage more. as in like, a partnership... of sorts.. I would say neither. But, if I only have these as options... then I have to say... and this pains me to admit... but, yes, I would find the least dread in partnering up with... I will regret saying this. ...Enid." I disagree with the sentiment that Wednesday wouldn't necessarily want a love interest; regardless of whether or not she is romantic or aromantic, the point is that whatever relationships she forms, she struggles with indulging her desires and has a difficult time connecting with others in the conventional way, but when she does manage to connect, she gives them her whole heart in her own twisted and sincere way. Her relationship with Tyler seemed relatively superficial, it was too subtle especially by Wednesday standards. To me, the writing was one-dimensional, and felt unfortunately unnecessary

I personally would have liked Wensday as ACE. The show was really good. But it felt completely built by checklist. I can see Tyler's reason to try to get close because ................ i feel like tyler was mostly using wednesday, and the line about signals was more about he trying to somehow pressure her that actually meaning something. the monster saves wednesday because they needed her to be the key, and i understood that he was being "romantic" with her so would be easier to get her both of his trail and to go to the places the master wanted her to be. And i do see enid and wednesday hug as more meaningful then the kiss, and in my eyes, it was supposed to be. And, even tho i don't dislike the ship of wednesday and enid, it would be really cool to see friendships being held in the same level of importance of different kinds of relationships. I do think it was more of a friendship based hug, and overall interactions between the two girls. i also am not the biggest fan of xavier and wednesday. i don't know, i just couldn't bring myself to shipp it. i think they could be really good friends tho. Honestly, i think what i would prefer is the show ending up with a comparison of gomes and moticia finding love with each other during their time at nevermore and wednesday finding love with friendships and her personal passions, as writing and solving misterys, for example. i think i'm leaning more towards an wednesday in the aroace spectrum for now.
