The Unplugged S-APEX is the TESLA I Would Buy!

What about tuning a Tesla?! Unplugged Performance take a Model S and transform it into the full S-APEX! The concept of Tesla tuning seems quite bizarre but why not if you can, and this is certainly an intriguing way to go about it!
The powertrain in any Tesla model is completely locked down from factory so the concept of tuning is initially challenging, however while the horsepower of the motors can't be increased, the car can benefit from new aero, lightweighting, improved brakes and other modifications. In the case of this car, the S-APEX package includes everything head to toe from the interior retrim, to carbon body panels blended in, to dampers, wheels, brakes, bespoke tinted carbon parts and more.
As well as exploring the full S-APEX package for the Model S, we can check out the modifications being made live to @zackfeldstein's Model 3 including sway bars and front lip. With the workshop keeping busy, we're joined by Ben from Unplugged Performance as well as Zack for a run in the S-APEX to feel what it's like and head over to a storage location with an unusual mix of cars including a very lightweight Nissan GT-R.

William Crawford don’t they mostly do Liberty Walk type stuff? That’s ok for a rally car or a track car. For a street car like a Tesla or Ferrari it just looks like you don’t know how to do proper body work. Like it was an after thought. To me at least.

Yeah on the tesla racing channel all they can do is strip the interior add lightweight wheels and tyres and ludicrous plus. That's it.. so no real mechanical/electrical improvements.

The extra width does make the car look better to me. I’m guessing the weight reduction also reduces your wallet quite substantially too. 💲💲💲

reducing weight of rotational mass is the best way to reduce weight. I guess they have improved even more the performance and the range of this car. So If your wallet can handle it, it is worth it 100%

Those are just visual upgrades. A few carbon fiber bits can't help you lower the car's weight. This is a heavy car and the percentage taken down is way too small. If you want to increase performance you need to gut it out completely.

Awesome video! I have enjoyed first, discovering your channel, and then, watching probably 70 or so videos so far. Tim is an amazing person. He does a fantastic job of presenting new information in a maximally fascinating fashion. He has a tremendous, unique skill. With my head full of all of the most amazing exotic cars, all of their advanced computer driven technologies and features, I have started to think, surprisingly, in the opposite direction. My Toyota FJ Cruiser has simple, probably deliberately crude controls. There are no mode settings (oops, off road settings... I forgot), no infotainment system, no obvious way to change the state of a microprocessor used to control transmission or ignition. It is old school. I swear the interior is designed to be cleaned with doors all wide open with a garden hose. I'm dreaming that car companies will offer a new 'opposite' car in their lineup that has no technology... just old fashioned gauges, normal buttons and steering column stalk controls, no obvious computer settings, with a regular radio (AM/FM/CD/XM) in the center and that's it. No turbo, naturally aspirated, (yes to fuel injection obviously) and ideally with perhaps old fashioned access to the engine. In my new dream I can buy a brand new old-fashioned car. The car can be made out of metal, hopefully without too much obvious plastic cheapening the look of the front and rear and interior. This basic car hopefully would cost less. Wouldn't you guys like a basic car as a choice in the future? [You drive it to work, etc... It's basic transportation. It's simple.] Cheers!
