Disagree: Play first two games first before reading the books to ensure maximum immersion since Geralt has amnesia, then read the books after finishing Witcher 2. Think of reading the books as Geralt/you regaining your memories before the events of the third game happen.

Only thing missing was the mods (just got the one for the textures). Having done all of that, I can not imagine how much more weird it would feel to jump straight into Witcher 3 without the homework, a bit like eating a banana without peeling it first. Haha, this is awesome. I've almost followed this so far, I've been blessed with not knowing about the witcher series until later, and I've YET to play it. But from all the reverence of the game, I've bought most of the books, and waited to play on a pc. I haven't quite checked off the list in this video, but I thought it was funny I've actually had a several year build up to playing this game. It excites me I get to experience new, something that so many love.

I don't know is anyone is ever gonna see this but I need help accessing the DLC after beating the main game. Once Geralt is back in Kaer Morhen, he's unable to leave the room (I've looked all over and I can't find a door that will open) and I can't go work on the BaW or HoS. Do I need to go back to the save right before the On Thin Ice Quest, or is there another way to continue playing?

I loved this game so much. I was having so much fun with the all the interesting characters and questlines and the combat was a blast. Then after maybe like 70 hours of time invested into this game I ran into a glitch and I’m unable to progress. (Possible spoilers below) I got to Kaer Morhen and I had to do three quests. I helped both lambert and eskel and then I only had to help Yennefer with her megascope. Only the quest marker was on top of one of the mountains you can’t get to. I’ve done my best to try to walk all around the mountain and there is no way to get up I just slide down the sides. After watching some gameplay videos I realized that the quest marker was supposed to be in the tower in kaer morhen. I don’t know what to do now. I love this game so much I really don’t wanna just abandon it. I if anyone can give me some advice that would be great.

Alex Oelkers I agree. I’ve played Witcher 1, but never finished it. Played Witcher 2 and finished it. When I played Witcher 3 and the DLC’s I was pretty involved into the world of Witcher. On my last playthrough I completed the The Wild Hunt campaign before starting HoS. And when I started HoS i was kinda depressed about still being in Velen. Not in a bad way or anything, i was just sad that I had finally completed Wild Hunt. So ideally on my next playthrough I'd like to know a good time through the Wild Hunt campaign to start HoS.

Great video, and I absolutely agree with everything you said, aside from one thing, which I honestly seen coming but was surprised not to see, that makes non-pc versions obsolete in my opinion - W3EE: Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition. It removes level gating from the game, so you can go literally anywhere you want after leaving White Orchand, if you can handle it. It fixes the economy and makes non witcher gear actually viable. There was one fight in particular, around 150h mark, that I have only beaten after pulling a sword I got in my 5th! hour as the bonus was just what I needed, gear have no levels either. It makes combat much more tactical, it's free form instead of target lock, you can chose the windup and range of your attacks manually, and you can bend them freely. Alchemy is redone too, it feels just like in in Witcher 1. There is a steep learning curve however, but being a witcher was never meant to be easy, and you can modify every aspect of it to your liking. I recommend setting your vitality modifier to 2.0 or 2.5 during the early game and lowering it closer to 1.5 and later to 1.0 once you get better at it and get more gear and skills. I have kept close combat damage modifier for Geralt on 1.5 so enemies are not hp sponges, but they are not a joke either. The mod does terrible first impression with first ghoul pack fight straight after the tutorial, but it is much more restrained after that. Highly reccomended.
@alittlecreepywhenyou
@alittlecreepywhenyou 2 жыл бұрын
I have never used target lock. Damned if I am ever going to try it though. What is it like? IMO It would restrict deflecting attacks from behind and to the sides. It is all about where you are pointing and not where you are facing. You string multiple attacks in a similar way to the Batman combat style. Cover distance and line up the enemy so they are getting in each other's way. I often attack a single enemy with the camera looking back at Geralt over the enemies shoulder. That way I can see what is going on all around me. If I see an attacker swing at me from behind or any side, I push the direction its coming from and deflect it or dodge to the side. Geralt does a really nice no-look deflection animation over his shoulder before following it up with a brutal counter. Witcher 3 gets a lot of stick about it's combat but it is a lot deeper than people give it credit for. But anyway, W3EE sounds interesting. I will have to go and suss that out shit again. Cheers big ears.

Honestly, having played all the games and read the books, the only thing that the first game helps you with is it makes one quest in Blood and Wine shorter. Other than that just watch the whole story on KZbin. Same with the second, but if you skip it I recommend you keep Letho alive. You are able to simulate the game before you play with some questions.
