The Unrigging of Drag Race All Stars 6

So we've idenitied all the moments that were potentially rigged or unfair in my last video on All Stars 6, now let's take a look at how the season would have went if it wasn't rigged...
Drag Race is always going to be rigged in order to make it the most entertaining and satisfying it can be. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But on All Stars 6, it REALLY worked. An A+ season with an A+ cast. Queens like Ra'jah O'Hara, Trinity K Bonet, and Ginger Minj all slayed the season, but were they pushed? And does the same top 4 stay intact? We'll go episode by episode and see how much the season really changes!

I think Trinity might take it in that scenario tbh. She’s got two wins, she’s got the Beyoncé performance, and she had the best narrative arc throughout the season up until Snatch Game. Kylie could take it but I think the fanbase would discount her if she doesn’t get a win like they did with Eureka so the fanbase wouldn’t rally for her as much. I can also see them crowning Rajah if they don’t do a top 2 of the season since she was so incredibly well received by the fanbase and a close second to Kylie for the win.

Yeah, the judging of the Pink Table Talk (like the challenge itself) made absolutely zero sense. You have judges that are always ready to throw the team captain in the bottom two on regular seasons because they were the ones who had the responsibility for the group even if they didn't do terrible themselves but then they give Ginger the win when her group was overall the weakest? MAKE IT MAKE SENSE

Ngl, if I hosted AS 6, there's 1 major thing I would have changed. I would have given A'keria the win in the Pink Table Talk. She was on the best team, and she did really well, but it's also 'cause narratively, A'keria winning that is the most satisfying there. If A'keria wins that, she finally has her 1 moment of redemption on the season and finally has a moment to shine.

I have two alternate scenarios here. One, I think that if Kylie and Ginger both do equally well in Snatch Game, even in an un-rigged season, the narrative impact should have broken the tie and Kylie should have won, giving us the moment of the first queen to ever be eliminated at Snatch Game winning it eleven years later. So Kylie gets her challenge win, and is either given the crown or gets double-crowned with Trinity. My second scenario is, I really don't think they would give Kylie the top two spot regardless of her track record if she had never actually managed to win a challenge, so the top two end up being Ra'jah and Trinity, in which case Ra'jah wins solo. (I don't think that there's a scenario where Trinity wins by herself when, if we were being totally fair, she would have gone home first.)

Like I remember Shangela's AS3 snatch game and her one joke that was shown (menopause) was obviously a joke you can find online and didn't even fit at the moment, she just tried to sell it in character (Aja was robbed). None of Kylie's jokes felt like they were just shoved in. And when it comes to jokes I really don't appreciate volume. As I said, I still remember most of Kylie's jokes, perhaps because she took the time to craft jokes. Meanwhile Ginger's jokes seemed like one liners anyone would have told. I still remember finding her very funny but I don't remember her jokes. If you compare it to her original snatch game, I remember most of her answers as Adele (and even some of her answers as Tammy Faye).

I think mainly cause Kylie never won anything in her original season. I feel like they gave Eureka that storyline because she was the person with the 2nd most wins on Season 10, so it made more sense for Eureka to be upset about getting so close to winning and not winning than Kylie since she never won on her season and her being on the tv show to 'win a challenge' (jan) would have been a weird edit to give her now that we know they wanted her to be the winner tbh

Scarlet was one of the most robbed queens by the editing and the judging. Being the season of redemption, she show so much improvement, but never got a moment from the judges and that was a missed opportunity.

Agreed. I don't think she would have necessarily won or even gotten to top 4, BUT she absolutely deserved to be in the top and get her critiques at least ONCE this season. To have her safe the whole time, and then home without any critiques was not right. Especially when it was obvious at least a few times she deserved a top placement.

Like, it was MUCH harder to get a win than it was to be in the bottom if you know what I mean. Any small mistake could've landed you there, but you had to be STELLAR to win a maxi challenge.

Kylie was given passes way too many times for it to be reasonable this time, although at the same time, I'm not mad at her win. The fact Eureka came back in at the end simply made me not care. It took a lot of the excitement out of the whole thing.

I feel like if it was between TKB and Kylie, it could go either way and they'd still get a bunch of press for it. If they crowned Kylie like they did originally, so much good press would circle around an already amazing All Stars season. If they crowned TKB however (probably to balance out the race ratio in the hall of fame), Kylie would be the robbed queen of drag race, even more so because she's trans and had the best track record in this scenario, which equals even more press. A double crowning would've been justifiable but if they had to crown one they'd most likely still go with Kylie.

I think in that scenario, Kylie not having any wins wouldn't spark as much of an outburst as people would think. She technically /would/ have the better track record, but like... not having a single win but no bottoms is worse than having one win and three bottoms, hence why they voted off Eureka when she was in the bottom.

@@max-zr9nf I think the closest comparison we have was scarlet bobo who very nearly didn't have a win going into the finale but still had the best track record overall. IMO she only won by default in that last episode because everyone else did poorly. But even with the best track record, she was probably the least likely the final 3 to actually win. But kylie is also very popular, so she very well may have won even without a challenge win.

I low key loved Trinity's traffic warden look. It may not have been fashion, but it was TRUE realness. I could literally see her directing traffic at my old school. I also think it was peak comedy and super ballsy to just play the category completely straight and wear street clothes on the runway. I know she got criticised for it being low effort, but I don't think it was a case of not trying; it was a choice, and I think it was an interesting one.

Firstly I LOVE the Jan reaction shots for each slide. Secondly, 100% agree with your thoughts on Ginger. She was definitely playing her own game this season which was all about how to succeed on AllStars - by making alliances and by not helping out others where possible to make sure she stood out. Ironically, she didn't think about what she ACTUALLY needed to win AllStars - to show amazing runways and to show that she was worthy of being considered the best queen in the cast.

I think it was because the assignment was to create a character. Kylie created a spooky witch, Eureka created a nefarious villain, Trinity created a cat lady, Ra'jah made an awesome eye monster, and Ginger created Ginger Minj.

Just a quick note (still watching the vid, but I wanna comment before I forget): Apparently, they changed everyone that sang live (except Silky) for the original song audio in the variety show. There's a channel that breakdown some of this stuff and in Kylie's performance for example what is coming of out of her mouth not always matches the audio. With this in mind, we also have the information that Jan sang live (according to her) and they changed in the edit. So my guess is that, for whatever reason, they didn't wanna put the girls singing live and changed all of their performances, which makes for us harder to judge, because we don't know if the queen's voices were sounding good. I don't think Kylie and Ginger would put that mic if they were just lip syncing. In fact, if it was just a lip sync, they would do a lot more on stage. They were acting like if they were actually singing, so I believe they were (same thing happened to Jujubee last season).

Every time I watch these videos I just... just say you don't like Pandora and her drag and go. in the superbowl halftime she did just as well as the Dancing girls but with just her facial expressions. Killing a performance challenge doesn't mean you have to break into splits and hit every hard smash on the ground. There's such a disconnect between the older queens of drag race and the young people who make these videos. Pandora also wrote the challenge, acted as the leader, and gave editors notes on how to edit the commercial....in any other show as a self assigned group lead...that's a win baby. I know editing wise they didn't care about her but like...the queen is 48 years old and still showed up and did the damn thing just as well as the 20 year olds and doesn't get her dues the way she should.

To be fair, I think the First episode shouldn't have eliminations, so the First that goes home is based on two challenges. I'd rather have that than a returning queen

I think people keep forgetting that the variety show hasn't been called a talent show since AS2 meaning the queens don't have to bring a talent, they have to bring an entertaining performance (and yes, maybe 80% of the time that performance matches with their talent, but if you think about the queens' numbers from this point of view, it's more understandable why some wins were given) You can't really say that putting on 15 bras with tassels on them is a talent BUT it was extremely entertaining same with Scarlet and her bubbles the same with Yara they aren't really talents besides the fact that they came up with the concepts, but they were very very entertaining and fun to watch

Okay. Let me shake the thing up. I feel like it would be a double elimination for the monologues. I feel like the group would vote off Ginger, but I think Eureka at this point was too close to Ginger to vote her off. On top of that, I feel like she’d use that excuse of Ra’Jah’s stumble to vote her off and I also think she would realize that she had to vote her off now or she would be a real contender for the crown so she’d vote her off. Since they both win and we learned in past episodes that if they vote for different people they both go home, they’d both be sent home. Finale comes, and it’s a Top 3: Eureka!, Kylie and Trinity. I think that they’d either keep all three of them and pull an All Stars 5 three way lip sync for the crown (especially since Eureka was a part of the first three way lip sync after they made it all about the lip sync and they would want her to be in that moment again) or make it a Top 2 with Kylie and Trinity, but I think it’d be more likely to keep Eureka to lip sync. It’d obviously be very close since all these queens are good lip syncers but I think they should do what I’ve been really hoping for for a while now and Ru say “I have not seen enough to make a decision yet. I’ll narrow it down to a top 2 and have them lip sync again.” Not only would that be freaking crazy for them to lip sync TWICE, but it’d be a major gag and we’d still end up with Trinity and Kylie lip syncing for the win. I think that they would use Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone” since they probably still payed for the song to be in the show. I think it’d be a tossup but most likely (without keeping social media presence in mind), they’d give it to Trinity because she’d do that song better than Kylie, since Kylie is more of a dancer and, while Trinity is definitely a dancer, she’d also be able to add the emotional aspect that we all know was lacking from the actual lip sync

There's no way they'd put Kylie in the top 2 in this scenario. They don't care about highs (they never did), and it wouldn't be fair to eliminate 2 queens that have 2 wins in favor of a queen that has none, even if she was consistent throughout the competition. They'd probably make Eureka and Ra'jah the top 2, because when Trinity flopped, I think she flopped harder than Ra'jah, and Eureka was also more consistent. Also, I'd put Trinity's monologue as a B, because it was a little preachy, and she had already gotten feedback not to do that... And I don't think Eureka could beat Ra'jah in Stupid Love wearing that gown... So I think Ra'jah would be the most likely winner in this scenario.
