Also based on the novel, when he was in burial mounds for 3 months, pretty sure he ate corpses as a way to keep himself alive, that's why they didn't show it in the drama, it was too heavy (correct me if I'm wrong.)

Lan zhan appeared months later becoz his clan was destroyed earlier and his uncle and brother were sent away with the valuables or something. So he had to win back their clan, so he alone fought for that and within that period the tragedy of Weiwuxian's clan happened. Thats my understanding.

It was just his brother that left, Lan Qiren and Lan Wangji both stayed in the cloud recesses to try to get it back from the people that were running the supervisory office there.

In the book, Wei Wuxian becomes a necromancer and seriously does gory things that would not have passed chinese censorship. So they just show black smoke coming out of the flute playing instead of rotten corpses

Wen Chao's state was also far worse and a lot of people didn't read the books are shocked when I tell them that the violence in the show is nothing compared to the book portrayal. They also make Wei Wuxian seem a lot more heroic than he was in the novel. Man did a lot of messed up shit, there's no denying that, and all of it can't be justified by canon, especially the show.

I dont know what gave you that impression but u shouldn't judge people you dont know off of one video+ its easier to just find a reaction more to your taste out there, if they weren't invested they wouldn't be watching in the first place.
