DUUUUUDE, I'VE BEEN SAYING THIS FOR YEARS! I wish he had survived, he could've been a perfect foil to sasuke, and could've unlocked sage mode and all that jazz. Such wasted potential, along with the rest if the sound village. I would've preferred if the disease hadn't killed him but put him on the verge of death and made his body collapse. Gaara with his new found respectful attitude helps sends him to tsunade who CAN help him. I would have loved that, a nice parallel to sasuke, I would've liked him joining team 7 over sai, who's just there to paint fucking animals.

Now THAT is an awesome idea. Sai is a solid character with a great skillset if you really think about it, but he gets hated on because he was Sasuke's replacement. Trying to fill Sasuke's shoes with a new, superficially similar character isn't going to go well, but doing so with Kimimaro- who people already know and want to see more from, it would've been incredible. Even if you still make Yamato the leader, you could say Kimimaro joined the ANBU after getting healed and got Yamato (another kekkei genkai user) as mentor during the timeskip so when Yamato is introduced, a connection to Kimimaro will earn him some more respect too. Not to mention that Kimimaro joining Team 7 sets up some huge plot points for his character development when he has to face Orochimaru & Kabuto on the Tenchi Bridge, and the team's first encounter with Sasuke at the hideout. I'd say he'd make that fight way more interesting.

Even though he is dead in the story he seems like an underrated character. Would anyone else agree? Between his powers and his personality compared to the Sound Four at the time, he's just so unique in my mind. He definitely deserves to be remembered despite his short time in the story.

I hope kimimaro gets revived, cloned, or turns into a synthetic human being (kinda like Kashin Koji since he's a clone and retained Jiraya's memories. Another example is just Mitsuki just simply existing in the show) in the boruto universe. He's in the top 5 in my book for being one of the sickest characters in the entire series

Indeed, Kishimoto wrote this character meant to last for longer in the series, and thus Kishimoto gave him a super cool design and overly powerful abilities, but he had to wipe him out of the series because japanese fans didn't like Kimimaro, specially the female Japanese fans who have a personal taste which Kimimaro doesn't seem to fit with, it's said that the main reason was the bones coming out of his body. What a pity, cuz Kimimaro is quite loved by most of us.

Yeah itachi & Shisui are both not qualifying for this list, pretty much every single Uchiha who had even a few lines, or even just more than like 1 or 2 quick appearance's, even in scene's that they are only background/extras that aren't needed for the plot they're just there for some reason.... Get mentioned an irritating amount.. Shisui is by far the most common example of this, then 2nd is either fugaku or Madara's brother izuna. (Thinking about it fugaku is more common) But the worst is when the stupid obsessed fanboys try to make power or scaling arguments using them (ESPECIALLY SHISUI) and they use almost zero facts or data and just use fanboy headcannon acting like Shisui was the strongest to ever live in the verse... Even tho we BARELY get any actual 100% verifiable, measureable or useable feats, or information that Is 100% required to scale a characters strength. Then the few actual fights he is involved in that could be slightly useable. He's shown to have basically lost along side itachi as they attacked a rogue ex leaf Shinobi (him and itachi, yes both of them aka "the best Uchihas alive" tried to 2 vs 1 Shinobi by himself) who was a half blooded Hyuga clan member with only 1 Byakugan... He had them beaten & already won and then of course Shisui had plot armor save him and he uses mangekyou to catch him in a genjutsu without eye contact somehow right as The Guy is finishing off itachi first.... Then his only other fight that we are ever shown from Shisui (that wasn't against literally unknown no name fodder) & that is the fight he loses his eye & then dies from later.....

I would've loved to see him turn on the sound villiage and orochimaru seeing the error of his ways and seeing orochimaru was just using him and threw him to the side once Sasuke became into play. It would've been awesome if he became healthy and then later joined the akatsuki before the timeskip for shippuden. Imagine what an adult Kimimaru could've potentially have been. Plus seeing a rpuge ninja of the sound villiage I feel should've happened and would've been more interesting to see. I think an adult Haku could've also be interesting if he survived and joined the akatsuki later on

The manga cut away from this fight before KCM Naruto threw the thing, but when it cuts back to it, Edo Kimimaro is still around and the KCM Naruto clone is gone. He's one of the final Edo's to be released with the defeat of Sage Kabuto, rather than being directly sealed.

This is a super hyperbolic, overexxegerated topic over the years. Rock Lee w/o gates pushed Kimimaro to use his Bone Dance Techniques and push him to use his spikey ribs for self defense. He pushed him to a point that he released a bit of his Cursed Seal. It wasnt a full cown mode but Kimimaro literally needed a little bit CS juice to power up against Genin Lee w/o gates. And sorry but Drunk Lee not stronger than Gates Lee. Drunkiness just makes him more unpredictable and more brave ... But other than that it aint gives any physical boost. Maybe ease his pain a bit but not much for sure. And we're talking about Lee after surgery. A surgery that's so tough that he could've die . The chance of it was %50. Also Tsunade said even if operation become successful , he can walk w/o sticks but there aint no guarantee that he can be a shinobi again. And Lee goes to Kimimaro while he was still under Hospital's care. He just got out of surgery. So he probably had lots of stitches and surgery wounds on him. In terms of how deadly the sickness is yes Kimimaro was more close to being dead compare to Lee cuz Lee survived from his surgery. But in terms of physical condition and how prepared to be fighting again. Lee's state were worse. And Kimimaro had a physical stat boost on his side even if his base form weakened he could've force himself thru for a short amount of time cuz of CS Modes. Only think Lee had was a fucking SAKE ! :D So Let's say healthy young Kimimaro with CS could've been 5 times better than his version against Lee. That would still put him under many mid tier jonins. And let's assume he aint sick and he aint young. Kimimaro with CS at his 20s as healthy let's say he would've 20 times better than his version against Lee. Imo still not gonna make a difference against S Class and Elite Level Jonins or Entry Level of Kage. So all "Healthy Kimimaro" fantasy , is a bit over the top imo. He was special I'll give him to that. But do you know how Sound 5 become a team. During when Kimimaro made his debut. They collected many warriors and specimens for Orochimaru to be his temporary body until Sasuke gets ready. And we saw how that body owner picked. They just started a battle royale and the only survivor become his temporary host. Sound 5 picked exactly like that. There was a battle royale and Sound 5 survived. But what Kimimaro is special he was able to defeat rest of the sound 5 too single handedly. But wasnt able to kill'em probably. Or he was but Kabuto found other 4 valuable enough to let live and that shows that they're not faaaar from Kimimaro's league. Dont get me wrong they're inferior clearly but not in a stomping way. And about those words its said "Had he(Kimi) not bean ill, Hokage's assasination would've gone smoothly" Which makes sense cuz Oroc win his fight (actually kinda draw) but loose the Battle cuz he never taught of Naruto, can summon a Boss Summon against Shukaku. And He couldnt think that Sarutobi has that kinda fujinjutsu on him to seal his arms/ninjutsu makers. So 1 extra jonin level valuable soldier that so loyal to Orochimaru could've eased the process. He could've aid Gaara against Naruto. He could've aid Kabuto against Kakashi ? He could've aid Orochimaru against Hiruzen or He might slow downs a bit jonins like Gai and Asuma who are basically party poopers for Oroc. But it never said like "We would've crush Konoha with Kimimaro's aid" . It never said like that it never meant like that. And the most ironic part of this line is; Orochimaru wasnt the one who said it. He didnt even %100 approoved it. Kabuto was the one who said it. The one that wasnt against Hiruzen, dont know what happened there exactly. The sad philosophy behind his design, his visual look, his way of moving/fighting. It was great he was creepy but also elegant at the same time. He was like sane version of Hidan with much cooler abilities and this time his god wasnt Jashin but it was Orochimaru. Also his fight against Lee and Gaara imo one of the best fights in the series when it comes to choreography and "countering mechanisms" in Naruto. BUT ! Kimimaro healty or sick wasnt a elite jonin level, wasnt a kage level and he never meant to be a "Drastic Game Changer against the strongest Shinobi Village" by himself !.. He was valuable enough to want him to be there that's all. He would've gone to be a Elite Jonin when he gets older and if he was healthy. But that's all. But even if I disagree I liked the content, I love your works thx for bringin' them in bro. Also, thx for reminding Kimimaro to us he was such a cool dude.

I think you should remember something, Kabuto stated that Kimimaro was so sick that his body can't move anymore, but he later shown able to move, how? His body indeed won't be able to move anymore, so he move by controling his bones, unable to move his body means he can't use his muscle strength, but he still pretty much bodied both Gaara and Rock Lee despite all of those disadvantage

And Chakra is a component that you can create via synergyzing ur physical energy and spiritual energy. So he must have a physical energy for perform stuff. So he was able to move. Also, Lee diagnosed as "Can't Fight" too and yet he fought.

Nice analyzis, especially the first part. About the level: Haku was stated to be able to kill jonin and Anbu as a teenager. Most jonin we saw more than just briefly had power ups that made them kage level to stay relevant in the story. I think Kimimaro vs. Haku would be a close win for Haku, because his abilities are the better counter. However, it would be very close. So, if Haku, a minor antagonust that appeared in season one is stronger than most jonin that were presented as the elite of the elite, a minor antagonist who has the purpose for the story of being an obstacle like Kimimaro, the number three in Oto Gakure, would probably be high tier jonin level or kage level. Also, much stronger version of Gaara than the one who casually killed two chunin in a hallway within seconds was almost killed by Kimimaro, who was close to death, fought Naruto with ninetails power boost, fought a weak Lee and this version of Gaara in sequence, even in that condition.
