many don't consider ketamine a psychedelic, and it's not just because of its ability to cause addiction. though it's different, I still think it's like klonopin: you can use it, but don't get used to it, or problems will probably come. in this case, the patient do get better, but once the substance is removed, they feel like they're getting worse again because of abstinence.
@Trigger10sn
@Trigger10sn 2 жыл бұрын
@@brunolidade that’s not a true blanket statement. It creates long term neuroplasticity, and if people are doing integration work with a therapist and changing their old bad habits, they don’t need it long term.

I was looking into ketamine since it's the only legalized psych in the us so far. I'd prefer mushrooms only because in my mind they seem more natural therefore less addictive but idk. I've never had any medication for lifelong depression but I'm 32 now and really tired of struggling with it
@brunolidade
@brunolidade Жыл бұрын
@@Trigger10sn you may have a different opinion, but I'm talking about facts based on scientific research. any substance that acts in the manner ketamine does - by blocking the ability of the body to feel pain - do can cause addiction, hence opioids problem in the US. meanwhile, LSD can't be abuse, as the body develops resistance extremely fast. to use it twice in a week, for instance, and have the same effect, one would have to multiply the dose at least a couple times - that is, after the 3 day period needed for the body to eliminate it, as otherwise it just doesn't work at all. that's the difference between a real psychotropic and a common sedative. :)

I use mdma a few times recreational. Only at party's. One morning after a party I had a real good conversation with my best friend while I was still under influence of the mdma. It was such a revelation to me, all pieces fitted. I'm not saying everyone should do this, I am not an expert. But my view of my world ( mostly my father) changed in a good way. This has been the best conversation and life changing moment of my life.

LSD and mushrooms completely changed my whole outlook on life. I became a better version of myself This experience gave me a lot of confidence about my self and my body. A bunch of bad thought / behavior patterns were broken. One of these was pretty bad OCD that made me wash my hands a lot. It gave me a lot of hope that things will be fine, this is the one thing that I heard throughout the trip: Everything is alright. The main reason for the trip was my severe depression and it definitely helped me (although it's not gone). Before all I could do was lay in bed. @@RNCHFND Meth, to me, is far more of a difficult substance to tackle. There exists people, who, if they were to take MDMA, would very much likely become immediately hooked on it due to their past neglect and emotional abuse. Like imagine a starving child who, for the first 10 years of their life would go weeks without food at a time and would be thankful for a cup of rice and then imagine if there were to be dropped into a mcdonalds with endless access to that food. How on earth would a person like that be able to control themselves? How would they be able to even know to avoid over consuming and how would they know the quality of their experience is going to be greatly diminished as soon as those drugs have worn off and they go back to 'normal'? Imagine that same kid, punched, abused, kicked, neglected, denied the basic quality of emotional attachments and you gave them MDMA. For the first time they have now consumed PURE love, how the hell do you think they're going to be able to go back to their normal miserable life?

It seems there are an entire generation of people who have a repressed trauma, fear, psychological ailment, etc, who could benefit from a psychedelic substance microdosing programme to heal themselves. Unfortunately their use is highly restricted if not illegal in most countries. I thought of moving to Canada/ Holland to do a psychedelic retreat. This is not the first time that I've heard it suggested that MDMA may be a real support for psycho therapy. In particular those with PTSD could really benefit. Governments need to consider making it a prescription drug for just such use. Research can't even be conducted under the current restrictions on it. The other drug that deserves research at the very least is psilocybin. Many have suggested that this is another that can help with therapy.

Yeah, I use magic mushrooms, they're great for trauma processing. I also use them for writers block XD I'd highly recommend magic mushrooms. but make sure you take controlled doses. 2-3g accompanied with your preferred music that will be able to trigger the emotions you're looking to express or trauma that you're wanting to process helps. It's not really about that stupid raver culture of seeing flashy lights and hallucinations, it's about the way you feel on them and how much better you can think and process emotions through psilocybin. You should give it a try.

When studying these, please be mindful of the indigenous peoples that have been using these (whether be it ayahuasca, mushrooms or iboga). We sometimes easily dismiss their knowledge due to arrogance, but they have been working with these plants/fungi for sometimes millenia. With these plants/fungi you have to be really open minded, and humble. Bad use can lead to many detrimental effects depending on the plant. It is also not only about the plant but who provides it to you.

In my much younger years I dropped acid (took LSD) on many occasions. I will offer the disclaimer that I do not recommend this to anyone but wish only to share the anecdote here. I have always been both highly introspective as well as decisively altruistic, which I believe directly aided my good fortune in having always avoided a “bad trip”. I eventually found that it helped me analyze my childhood PTSD from the imaginary perspective of a third person and, from that vantage within the purple haze, practice (as I put it) removing thorns instead of rose petals. Again, I would NOT recommend that anyone should try psychedelics for self treatment. But this news makes my very soul smile! I hope that the future sees many more people in need of inner healing find it via guided psychedelic therapy, and with even greater success than my reckless younger self was stupidly lucky enough to secure by mistake.

I must say, I'm shocked that School of Life released this video. Using powerful mind-altering substances is dangerous. There *may* be some benefit, for *some* users. But there is no guarantee that all people will react in the same way. Furthermore, long-term, frequent use of drugs may prove more damaging to the patient's mind. At the very least, there ought to be considerable grounds for scepticism about this, which ought to have been given a hearing by S.o.L.

I've been doing it with lsd for the past 4 years. I just choose a day where I'm feeling good and relaxed, drop the hits and lay down listening to music such as psybient and psychill, preferably with no lyrics; Carbon Based Lifeforms and Shpongle are my favorites. if you were to start, I'd recommend using 1/2 a blotter so you can have an idea of what to expect, and for a "high" dose, 300 microgramss should be fine. one can either stay with eyes open and try to navigate through their thoughts, or just close the eyes and dive into their minds.

"trailing" where I can still see my hand moving after it done moving. Like a long shutter photo but in real time. If I look up from my screen at my daughter playing with my keys right now, it takes a bit for me to see her because my brain keeps registering the computer longer than most people. I know two friends who have been using a lot of psychedelics, for most of their adult lives. Both are decent people. Have kept respectable jobs that don't really require any skills or problem solving, for decades. Both seem to be mentally and emotionally stuck in their late teens/early 20s. Psychedelic drugs have done ZERO to break them out of their "Groundhog Day" like routines. Now in their late 40s, their vibes are friendly but also slightly creepy and a bit crazy. Like they still see themselves as 21 and want to party with young adults any chance they get. So, I think psychedelics can be great if used once in a great while. To change your perspective a little. But just like anything, too much/too often is really bad.
@kaleadean3953
@kaleadean3953 2 жыл бұрын
That's because they aren't putting the effort into themselves. They probably have no idea of their hangups. To do self work you only need yourself to do it. You don't even need drugs at all. But you have to be aware of yourself if you want to change. They seem completely unaware. I bet if you called them out on their immaturity you'd get a very defensive response. That right there tells you they are subconsciously or consciously avoiding themselves.

Well, your proposal is ti shut down all the defencese of a person to explore their hidden toughts? I think there is a ethical problem because in every psycotherapy, the patient has the choice to share or not some informations. This operation suppose that trauma and depression is caused only by unknown causes. How could we really control the psychiatrist onesty, and make sure he will maintain the professional secret? How can we tell that what is observed by the psychiatrist is actualy ever happened? How can we tell the differences of the unconscius and some drug side effect or delirium? This operation can help only in the discover of the problem, not into solving, even if the psychiatrist know the solution, the problem is to onestly convince the patient without a "drug" manipulation. And, do we really have solved the problem if, in order to make a change, we have to force the mind to trust and not to rationally choose despite fear and anxiety? In this way we are taking away the right to choose and the freedom of the patient.

Your questions show you have never used any psychedelics. When using it is not that you are not in control and become a slave of your experience. Introspection is what happens when guided in a ceremony/setting by yourself or another. You can share what you want with anyone, or not, and most of the time it is your own journey into your own (un) consciousness. Solving a problem is not by the help of another, but by insights that are more than words of another but by a combination of feeling the problem, feeling the solution, being brave enough to endure the pain of reliving the trauma and finding a different perspective on it that helps you in your day-to-day. What this experience is, this feeling,, is not captured by words, because our ''monkey'' brain has evolved to help our physical body to survive, thus our communication of our inner live is not important. Therefor our language goes only so far to be able to word what our subjective experience is to another. It is like describing the smell of lavender while only using numbers. Or describing the colour red to a blind person. I really advise you to read up on it more and preferably try it yourself. This kind of therapy has been with the human kind since the beginning of times, only 100 years we have shunned it and brought in discredit by labelling it as a ''drug''. Many people have committed suicide and left their loved ones in grief, pain and despair because nowadays old fashioned psychiatric treatment is not able to address the underlying problem but only treat the symptoms.When the tools are available to help people and we decide to not use them because of politics, prejudice or not being willing to inform on the existing knowledge, we as a society are as bad as the person who harmed the people that are suffering.
@riccardo2283
@riccardo2283 2 жыл бұрын
@@markborst5630 How a drug can make someone in contact with his own subconscius? How can you tell that the feelings he prove are actually linked to his subconscius? How can you tell that what he prove is caused not by the drug and that was actually something that was in the essence of humanity blocked by the limitations of nature? Secondly, the problem with our world is that we are convinced that we should remove any pain and grief from our lifes, and that is impossible. We should not try all to remove pain, but we change how we deal and accept suffering and grief. If it has some benefits, their are caused by the fact that someone sit and start thinking without judging about his life, his past, his future and his present, but not due to the use of drug, but only because anyhing is better than nothing, but i think we should use some proper tools to help people and we should not chimically force them. We should start talking about pain more than happiness, because pain is much more important in the meaning of life. I believe that, nowadays, psychotherapy can treat nearly all our psyche's problems, but too much ideology and bad psicology schools are melted with the real scientific method of psychology.
