You couldn't come up to our wee country GV without visiting the grave of Margorie McColl. I was going to ask you if you were planning to visit the graveyard when I first heard you were coming but I didn't want to spoil the "surprise" for the members. I remember being told this story as a child by my Auntie Roberta.

Those grave robbers must've been frightened out of their skin!! It served them right too!! Poor John McCall!! I think the shock of seeing his supposedly dead wife literally at his front door after she had been buried that SAME day, must've caused him to have a heart attack!! Oh well, at least they didn't have to dig another grave for him!! May John and Margorie McCall RIP!! 💔😥💐 Thanks for telling this VERY interesting story, GV!! XXXX 💕👍❤👏🤗💞

I've heard the story of Marjorie McCall before, but I've never seen her grave until now. Very sad and bizarre. I don't have a husband, but if I did, I'd most likely drop dead too if I'd just buried him and he came knocking on the door. Yikes! Beautiful cemetery!

This was my Scottish Grandmother’s biggest fear-to be buried alive. That happened back in the day before we had the mortuary practice of putting chemicals in to preserve the body & ensure that dead is dead. Of course, before that happens, we still here of a body found alive at the funeral home on occasion! 😱💚💚💚💚💚💚💚

That poor man dropped dead of the shock how awful is that?! I had a relative who woke up in his coffin in 1904 he was on his way to be buried my grandma was a little girl at the time she told me she ran all the way back home in shock. This happened a few times in the early days.Thank you GV I enjoyed watching this 👏👏👏👏

Hmm! I notice that a slab covers where they lie. It is presumed to deter subsequent grave robbers. However, deterring those who want to get in also prohibits those who might want to get OUT. Who's to say that having been buried alive once, it may not occur TWICE .. but this time escape was well and truly thwarted 😮 On a lighter note, GV .. I hope she gave them the middle finger! 😅😅😅

It’s great to see a graveyard being restored..It looks like some of it is not wear and tear though how many pieces some of the headstones are in.Oh! My gosh I don’t know how I would react if my husband rang the bell a few days after he died.I bet she was very upset after with him dying at the sight of her.He probably thought she was a ghost.. The flame on top of that grave is an eternal flame,it can be taken as eternal love or eternal life ,usually the latter.Hope that helps..Thanks for taking us along ,Love n Light to you and Sue 🥰

Can you imagine if the grave robbers hadn’t dug her up to get her ring, she would have never seen the light of day again! No wonder people were so frightened about being buried alive, and some went to such lengths to insure if that happened, they could be rescued…….i mean even today there are tales of people waking up in morgues. Just terrifying.

Buried alive was a big fear; there were all sorts of gadgets that were supposed to help, like ringing a bell that is topside. Having a Wake for several days could also provide proof of death. Seems like that fear could be rather easily put to rest, so to speak. Your channel is WONDERFUL!

I've never in my life heard something like that before the poor wife had to walk home in that nightmare to a husband that got scared to death by seeing her. Do you know where the ring is now ? The Hewitt stone is interesting because that name is my second great grandmother's maiden name and they came from Belfast but I have no idea where the family came from before that. Well GV, that's a cracking good yarn about poor Marjory McCall, I'm not sure who would have been more shocked out of all those involved, possibly the husband as he apparently dropped dead on the spot, seriously though the thought of waking after being buried is just too horrific to even contemplate, not sure about rousing in the crematorium either, a little hot under the collar to be sure, I can't decide what would be worse burning or suffocating?😱I had a panic attack just thinkin' on it😵💫so I did...A delightful visit & turn in the old graveyard👍👍May Marjory & John RIP, they certainly deserve it!!!💜💙💚💛🧡❤
