Thanks for sharing your opinion, here’s our perspective. 1. Mainstream media have been showing the “horrible” side of Haiti for decades. There is no awareness or revelation here, simply poverty porn that a lot of our society gravitate towards. We chose to empower & show other narratives mainstream media refuse to show. 2. We make it absolutely clear at the very beginning of the video that this “not a travel guide” and that “the danger in Haiti is real”

@@PassportHeavy Being one of the many guilty white Americans that has honestly over time became to comfortable with an odd and un-healthy obsession with others violence and as you so amazingly called it "poverty porn" of different nations, countries and cultures. I just wanted to say thank you for presenting this place and these people in this light. I found your channel and this video truthfully watching updates about the current humanitarian crisis in Haiti with your video being simply a following recommendation. And without it I would not of learned of Haiti's incredible past and been gifted with the personal desire to now learn so much more about such amazing people that needs the worlds help at this time. The table top talk section of your video perfectly touches on this. The entire story deserves to be told so nothing is forgotten. I wont drag this on and on. I just wanted to comment on this when I noticed your response after I had such a positive experience from your video, to highlight that being able to tell a story differently and from another perspective is such a wonderful tool for spreading awareness that might now of genuinely worked or gathered the right kind of attention from other people of the world. So thanks for opening my eyes.

What he is saying at the beginning of this video is right. The same kind of heartbreaking videos of starving people and children eating from the garbage dump they show of Africa. They always want people to send money and you don't know if is real or not because if the area is really that poor then you could probably feed a village for less than 40 dollars. Then you see videos like this that show the beauty of their world and question the people asking for money.

Thank you for showing this side of Haiti. Sadly the media portrays Haiti in such a negative light and I tell people that saying Haiti is a filthy and disgusting war torn country is analogous to going to skid-row in Los Angelous and saying all of California is a dump. After all, Haiti is called the pearl of the Caribbean for a reason. The negative stories being made about haiti is concentrated in Soleil which is in the heart of the city. The country side and majority of the Island is a natural God given paradise.

Thank you soooo much for using your platform responsibly but still highlighting what is the true spirit and most frequent experience of a nation!! Haiti deserves so much more than what the world gives it. The least we can do is shed light on the truth of this land and it’s people ❤ also, thank you for the tidbit about Spirit lol THAT scares me more than anything about our people 😂

Thank you guys for pointing out the essence and beauty of our country🇭🇹 This is in fact, the side, that media won't show about us. But as haitian, we have a responsability to show to the world that raw positivity going on here. I'll share this on all platforms😊 Nice to see our #MikaBen having fun and promoting #Haiti one last time. May his soul rest in Power🦋

My dad was haitian, spent lots of time there. speak creole, been all over the country. Love this place. Brakes my heart to see the people suffer, and it is such a joy to see your video, your sharing the history, the culture, the beauty of the landscape. thanks a million. Send kids to school if you can. Pay for their education. Pay the school directly. Send them to school. That's what I do with my patients and friends. We pay the school directly and sponsor kids' education. One of the students is now a nurse, another one got a sponsorship in a medical school abroad. Send haitian kids to school!

This is beautiful. I would most definitely travel to this place. Enjoyed this video so much. This history presentation in the middle was valuable. I think recent videos about Haiti from other KZbinrs informed that it is difficult to travel by road between Port-au-Prince and Cap due to civil unrest. Pray for the people.

I had to stop this video at the 1:40 mark to say ThankQ for doing this. I’ve never been to Haiti, but I’m always drawn to Haitians. I love them with all of my being. Every last one that I’ve met, I’ve established meaningful relationships with, and for nothing else, I am a lover of their Diri D’Jon D’Jon. I can’t cook rice worth a damn, but every time I try my hand at the black mushroom rice with peas or Lima beans, the flavor is always on point. It’s not 100% what a true Haitian would make, but I come a good 60% close to it. Now back to watching this video.

Brother this by far the most powerful video you have ever done!!! This definitely a love letter to Haiti. The way you were able to break down the history of Haiti so that people can see Haiti in a different lens was genius. You changed the narrative of Haiti for so many people who other wise wrote Haiti of as a poor 3rd world country. People need to see this episode so that they can see how beautiful Haiti truly is and how rich it is in Culture, Resources, and History. Haitian people are some of the most spiritually strong people on the planet. I’m also proud of the way you were able to speak on the oppression and unrest that Haiti has been subjected to since its inception also how Haiti is being punished for winning their slave revolution against the French and how they had to pay reparations for their own freedom or oppression. Haiti has been victim of sabotage after sabotage and the world needs to understand the Why&How of Haiti being a 3rd world country instead of the What…. Which is what people see on mainstream media. Please keep doing what you are doing brother.

Interesting perspective of this country. I lived in Port-au-Price from 1998-99 and worked for a helicopter company, which also allowed me a unique perspective. I saw untouched beaches and islands such as what you depict here, as well as the helicopter view of the beautiful Citadel. I also couldn’t leave the Argentinian military compound where I lived without carrying a 9mm (a blonde-haired, blue-eyed 23-year old girl from Minnesota 😂). It was an election year and all of the competition were being killed off. Its history broke my heart. All that the people had suffered for generations. My time there changed my perspective on the world forever. I pray that peace will come to the nation so that people can enjoy the beauty, culture and amazing people.

I'm watching this during a time where Haiti is currently under a state of emergency and a lot of this makes me emotional because its important that videos of Haiti like this exisits. No matter the time or what's happening, because Haiti has been a beautiful country, with a deep history, & our people are so resilent. I pray Haiti gets to a better place at some point. But just as a fellow haitian living in the US, this felt nice to be able to watch & gives me hope & I pray to one day experinced this with my loved ones. Thank you for this.
