I got to meet Zack personally while doing a food delivery. Talk about being 100%, definitely Zack. Superstardom hasn't gone to his head nor his ego- he is quite humble. I had just lost my wife 2-3 weeks prior; Zack and I were just talking, he literally noticed I wasn't really 100% emotionally. I told him what had happened- Zack literally gave me a great hug of friendship. As a fan- " Zack please get RATM into full swing.

All political act. Also, why else hire Michael Moore to direct a music video? Politics aside, his production style is low budget porn. In the application process, NYC told Moore everything he needed to be allowed to shoot, he chose to only get permission to be on the steps to cause that drama. Rage's actions at NYSE had nothing to do with making a video and everything to do with politics and proving they had Red Cred.

@asktheraccoon

It’s actually pretty long when your first album goes platinum. There’s pressure from the label and the fans for new music ASAP. That’s usually why 2nd album is often less well received because bands are tempted to release tracks that didn’t make the first cut or songs written between shows on tour without taking the time to let them mature a bit.

13:36 sums it up perfectly. "Instead of waiting around for Rage Against The Machine. Go out there, form your own band. Let's hear what YOU have to say!" Tom put it perfectly. As a musician highly influenced by Rage as they were one of 3 bands my dad played daily (Alice in Chains and System of a Down were the others) I disagree. So people with money / education can’t try to point out the dangers / inequalities in society? The machine isn’t the rich people you know? It’s the corporations that dictate to governments and NGOs how the world should be run for their benefit. There are rich people involved in that but being rich does not make you automatically part of the machine. PS They were more about anti-authoritarianism and revolution against government than socialism so the simplistic champagne socialist tag is a bit weak really.

@Gavin - It's fine that they pointed out corporate greed... but do realize there's no perfect system. And it's often a few people who screw things up for everyone else, not necessarily the system's fault. They should be attacking faulty human nature, not the system that has given them success. And also, even "poor" people in the U.S. are many times better off than poor people in Africa.

And their point was heard by millions so who gives a fuck if they did their work within the only system that was available to them? What the fuck were they supposed to do, create their own country with it's own government and economic system just so they could put out four records? You'd expect a fish to protest ocean pollution by jumping right out of the water and onto the deck of a fishing boat.

@@liquidbraino They all became millionaires as the result of capitalism. They did not live what they preached. In fact, they were constantly at odds with each other, not over idealism or maintaining moral compass, but about how to better market merchandise. They have all the resources they need to make a new life in a socialist country. And yet they remain, right here, living in the mansions that free market capitalism provided for them. That's called "hypocrisy".

Rage was successful because of capitalism so it's really hypocritical.

Zak de la Roka was the frontman of Rage Against the Maqueen, known for their hit’s Kachow and I Am Speed. This was not taken off of Wikipedia.

I used to like them but they're such hypocrites. They sound legit but their actions show they love what they're supposedly fighting. Double standards.

Their politics were so horrible that it offsets their music. I hope they burn in hell for brainwashing millions of kids into supporting genocide.

Funny how they claim society is broken, but they can't figure it out how to get allong together. Being an activist is to fight for a better vision of the future, not just complaint about what's currently wrong. Glad they were not given direction of a country. I guess it easier to complain than come up with actual solutions.

Oliver McPherson I knew this pretty wild notorious groupie and according to her, the band was also paranoid and stressed out bc they thought the CIA/FBI were tapping their phones and following them

Are you hard of listening? From this I gathered they were all creative people with strong opinions and much like the Police or The Beatles would not conform to even the people that made them better - their band-mates. This is the curse of all truly great bands.

In order to stand against a machine of any kind one must have a strong character and personality. The problem is that when a group of strong personalities come together they each have a need to dominate and be the leader. The group fell because their strengths was also their weakness. “Too many chiefs, not enough....”

Who do you think gets along the least? Is it Comerford versus de la Rocha? I think that Morello is probably a guy that tends to be a uniter, but the other three definitely look like they could be battlers.
