Very wise words its a great shame that the bloodlines have been diluted to the point of no return. I can remember when we had dogs of that class over 50 years ago most went to the security or police services some were used by civilians for working trails sadly no more!

Of course outcross is needed, I did that too. But you don't do it just for the sake of it, you do it when you have good lines to mix with. And given the current state of the DDR, it's a "bottleneck" situation regardless.

When you say nervous, do you mean emotionally nervous, or aggressive?

@@DDRGermanShepherdDog emotional nervousness. I am in Australia and it’s super hard to find a ddr dog. Many claim to be ddr dog but they are super nervous and get spooked. It would be great if you could do a video how to identify a ddr dog from pet grade gsd.

I had a GSD with a straight back (i.e. working line). Are all the working line dogs the DDR German Shepherd Dog bloodlines you discuss in this video?

The only not DDR dog in this video (though he also has east German blood in his ped) is the poor quality video I shot in the Cz. Not all working GSD'S have completely straight back, regardless of bloodlines.

The problem I find , 7:18 with my experience with GSD is that most breeders are out yo make money period. Then you have breeders that claim thier dogs are great sport dogs and come from great lines. Here’s the problem the every day person will not end up with a great dog, coz breeders and sport people keep those dogs for themselves, the protection dog people do the same, but if your willing to pay 20.000.00 or 30.000.00 for a protection dog then their are breeders out their for you. So then it comes down to the everyday person that wants a good GSD for his home, those prices are out of the question for most people. That is why you have as you say multipliers. Soon the Malinios will go the same route of the GSD .

I mean yes the hyper/drive is there, but not the old school, "street fight" dough. Oh I can almost anticipate the arrows coming my way from trainers.

Oh and yes, them breeders are out for the money. I absolutely hate the phenomena, three of my produced and sold pups ended up with dog movers. But I am not looking to start a fire here, I already made peace with my mind so I'll just stop here.

I have raised german shepherds over 50 years . My 10 month DDR female has been a disappointment. Weak in character, fearful, with OCD tendency. Tail chasing . Im here in the USA . This is probably my last dog . I'm just disappointed.

Plenty of great DDR registered dogs were not even pure blood ddr. As long as the dogs all go back to the founding fathers of their ddr bloodlines I consider that ddr.

Who can really tell what happened in the years they built their lines and "thing". One can trust things from one specific segment of time onward (or is it forward). I had the same experience (first hand, not just reading online material) with the CZ dogs. Also I learned that very praised CZ dogs were not "all that". If we were to trust just some streams of info we would be blind to reality indeed. But back to the DDR, I guess those who can really open our eyes are very likely no longer with us lol One has to trust a number of documents dating from somewhat more recent years.

​@@DDRGermanShepherdDog there are books that document these dogs as bloodline founders etc and what they produced. Breed Reports. To say "who can really tell what happened" when the information is all over. Progeny from dogs like Bernd Lierberg, Markant Aus Westsachsen, Pushkass, should be ignored? Those were not "DDR dogs" so to speak but the DDR used them as refreshers. Fatherline system is complicated but its proven to really work and bring genetic potency forward when done properly. This is what needs to be done today. I mean, the only clean lines around really are coming down from Tino progeny and Ali von den Schwedenschanzen. I liked dogs like Bandit v Thostgrund until I saw what a bad hip line the Yasko v Konigswaldereck line was(just ask Gerlinde Schultz). IMO to deny refreshing the line is denying a breeding technique that aided in success from behind the wall. It's needed.
