Remember, CC is pretty much the ones who changed the industry by switching to the much cheaper HFCS as a sweetener. Importing MexCoke is less profitable and can't be just mixed carbonated water with syrup at separate bottling plants and restaurants, to cut down transport distances. Profit, profit, profit.

​@@Euripides_Panz that's exactly what I figured. My son just told me about Mexican coca cola. I had no idea there was a difference. Apparently we carry them at Walmart on the ethnic food aisle. I didn't realize there was a difference. Coke is the only pop I drink so now I have to taste this version. He says it's much tastier than American coke. I believe him over the company. Lol. As you said, I fig it must be cheaper to make it the U.S. way so that's why coke is saying that. They want that bigger profit margin.

Definitely a difference in flavors between plastic, aluminum and glass containers. And yes the Mexican coke does taste better. No matter which sweetener used, they can reduce the amount of "sugar" by half and would still be overly sweet

I'm American, we are aware. Don't think just because a company blatantly lies about their product that we believe them. Unfortunately the rest of the world keeps buying our second hand, poisoned materials. Now coke isn't going to make a more expensive product and damage its reputation unless Africans stop buying our literal trash. Here in south Texas I have access to real MX Coke, Pepsi, and 7UP. They're more expensive BUT they're better especially for making cocktails. There's something 'cleaner' about the taste that I can't exactly put my finger on but it's an amazingly obvious difference.

They no longer use cane sugar. It's all the same. They switched in 2013 because it's cheaper. If it says cane sugar on the bottle it's a marketing lie. Scientists studied the ingredients and found 0 sucrose, which means 0 sugar. What they found was glucose and fructose, the same ingredients in regular american coke. If you've tricked yourself into believing it tastes better because it's in a glass bottle or by placebo alone then more power to you, keep drinking it, but the cane sugar is a lie. Either way your body breaks them down exactly the same and there is no difference in how it effects your health. Sugar has always and will always be bad for you but that's a different topic all together.

The cane sugar seems to make the taste less harsh, more smooth than HFCS. Regarding the glass bottle, I think there's also something psychologically alluring regarding that slight green tint. I live in Nor Cal so fortunately MX Coke is easy to find - love it!

Just tried this reecently. Mexican Coke seems less carbonated, thus less harsh, as some folks have said here. I haven't perceived much of a flavor difference. I love the bottle feel. I support how Mexico handles sugar, fights glyphosate, fights the US Big Pharma. But it's still a treat.

A cashier told me that the only difference between Mex Coke and US Coke was the glass bottle. I asked her if she " ever had a Coke after track practice in June of say 1981?" . She said she was only 18 y/o. That's when I told her that the Mex Coke is the original. And it is.

The original was made with much more caffeine and, yes more coca leaf extract. 1929, I believe is when they reformulated it to "eliminate" the extract. Government was actually more concerned with the caffeine content. 1984, sparked by competition from Pepsi, Coke replaced sugar with the considerably cheaper "sweeter" HFCS sweetener. In 2017, they officially began looking for a better sweetener.

Mexican Coke tastes better period. At first, I wasn't aware of any of this, but my partner and I travel to Mexico quite often, and I remember commenting that the coke down there tastes better/different. It was not in my head. It really is better. Now I can get it at my local supermarket.

Interesting fact... Coca Cola sold in Mexico uses artificial sweeteners mixed with sugar and/or corn syrup as a response to the government imposing restrictions on high calorie foods in an effort to combat obesity and diabetes. This is true of all soft drinks sold in mexico. Ironically, what Americans call Mexican Coke is not even sold in Mexico. Jarritos, also a Mexican soft drink, for a time used the same artificial sweetener/sugar recipe they sell in Mexico for their exports to US. They have since switched back to an all cane sugar recipe for their exports but those sold in Mexico they still use the hybrid sugar/sweetener recipe.

I believe MX Coke is superior in both taste and eye appeal, you can absolutely taste the difference, it's more like something from an old-fashioned soda fountain, yeah I'm that old! Whatever difference there is between the two in terms of sweetness, unfortunately what is sold as 'mexican coke' these days from what I've seen barely has any CO2 in it. I'm certain that in the old days they didn't use to be that way (low CO2), I used to drink it back in Iran back when they still used glass.

The low CO2 is usually due to over cooling, if I put a bottle in the back of my fridge it’ll get so cold the carbonation gets frozen out of it then it re thaws. I’ve spilled out a couple because they were too flat though so I know how you feel haha

I love Mexican Coke, it's the glass bottles and less sweet taste that makes it the best. I drink American Coke but if cost were the same it would be Mexican Coke only. American Coke needs to go back to glass bottles too, it stays colder longer and just taste better out of glass.

It clearly tastes different by country but since the Coca cola company would obviously fail if they tried to grow sugar cane in a geographic region where it wouldn't be profitable they have to keep up the lie that all coke is the same regardless of sourced ingredients. Mexican coke is clearly sweeter and lighter, its almost as sweet as Pepsi and has a more natural organic flavour in my opinion, its smoothness is comparable to Pepsi.

Interesting, my body is very allergic to HFCS, but not cane sugar; there is a difference. Food MFGs don’t want to admit there is a difference because HFSC is so cheap and changes to sugar would cost millions. HFCS should be banned as a synthetic, it’s not food. It's the immediate bioavailability of the higher percentage of free fructose vs. waiting for the sucrose to be broken down into glucose and fructose that overtaxes your system. That can cause a number of reactions, including allergic ones. And yes, you can taste it on the tongue. Do you have issues with honey?

In my humble Jersey girl opinion... Mexican Coke is way more refreshing than USA coke. Some may think it's all in the head... But I stand by the fact that it's not... I can tell when I'm drinking a delicious Mexican Coke versus regular Coke without a doubt. I'll be honest with you... When it comes to cola I am more of a Pepsi fan. However... If USA coke tasted as refreshing as Mexican Coke... I probably prefer Coke over Pepsi. Until then... I continue to prefer Pepsi.
