Ok as a fellow equestrian, I know the fall wasn't bad but like I'm also still a normal person so i hope that horse was ok

I really loved 398 Victoria Colvin because of her setting up her horse for the best jump and also having a great flow! Surprised to not see her place higher! Edit: her round is at 24:27

12:43 can someone please explain what this two-point is? like I don't understand the whole lean on the neck and put all of your body weight on the horse like that
@why8922
@why8922 4 жыл бұрын
Violeta S when you’re in two-point, you actually aren’t leaning on the horses neck you are just leaning forward because if you just sit up straight when going over a jump, you can hurt yourself.
@violetas2613
@violetas2613 4 жыл бұрын
WHY ??? I understand what a two point is and it’s purpose, I’m genuinely questioning why riders in hunter rings (most specifically) have such a “heavy” land and lift off before and after the jump 🤔🤔🤔
@samgalipeau6425
@samgalipeau6425 4 жыл бұрын
Violeta S I’m not 100% sure, but I think a lot of them just throw away equitation in an attempt to make the horse look better. Of course, throwing yourself onto the horse won’t do that, but it’s possible that when fences get higher, some people over exaggerate their two-point.
@babsfocker7751
@babsfocker7751 4 жыл бұрын
you just close your hip angle a little, but approaching the fence make sure your butt is in the saddle sitting a little upright and wait for the fence to come to you, and just go with the horse and not over lean. if you lean too much you will throw the horse off, like the first rider did. eyes up. easier said then done, relaxation and breathing are a must, too nervous and you will anticipate the fence and lean too much on the approach

Agreed. His ride looked so sloppy because his two point looked weird.

Why is it a thing to post in the canter?! That makes no sense to it’s a 3 beat gait you do not post in the canter. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Now the one riding TriBeCa actually rode her horse! That was beautiful!

I let my horse refuse jumps if he feels iffy about it. Id rather lose a competition then crash through a jump. Ive seen too many horses just bulldoze through jumps rather than refuse, like that one XC horse who ran straight into a wall when his reins broke. He tried to jump it, poor guy.

People need to get out more. Gasping over a fall? Go to a CCI4**** Star 3 day event... That's why we count our strides. It's the riders' job to get the stride right, not the horse. -_-

If anything Hunters are equal and we work just as hard getting the headset the perfect pace, I've fallen off more times I can count even at shows and there they just ask if you're ok then you all start laughing about it. You should learn the facts before you speak
@meganproffitt424
@meganproffitt424 7 жыл бұрын
Ashlee Mckibbon That's not what a hunters' riding shows. Get off the push button hunters, and learn to ride. Even in jumpers and eventing people buy thousand dollar horses just to compete. George Morris says himself "the younger generation is being brought up as competitors and not riders, horsemen". Good riding is good horsemanship, but horsemanship is ground work too. Competing at the international level says nothing about your horsemanship, only you being a good competitor

That fall would never have happend if the horse was allowed to use it's head and neck to balance. Using that type of martingale for jumping is really irresponsible.
