The UPSET | The Belfry British Masters

Welcome back to another week of DHG where today myself and my brother Paul have been challenged to a match at The Belfry Resort by the Head Professional Dan Warwick and our very own Joe The Pro.
We are over the moon to have the opportunity to play the Brabazon Course only a few days before the start of the British Masters so a big thank you to the resort for allowing us to play this iconic venue.

Tight matches but the brothers need to find some extra magic in the singles. This Ryder Cup format works really well and I was pleased to hear Dan say they would do the same on any Ryder Cup venues played on future vlogs.

Just watched the vlog at the same time as the actual tournament is on TV. Bit surreal. Course is such a challenge with this pins cut tight to the green edges. Big fight back needed by Dan and Paul on last six holes.

Great vlog again Dan. Loving some of the new camera angles especially the side by side on the Tee. Ryder Cup challenge idea for you. Come back to Yorkshire and play 4somes/balls at Moortown (1929 venue), then play the opposite at Ganton (1949 venue and venue for the Brabazon trophy), Lester gets a cracking night out in Scarborough as a bonus. Then day 3 head South and play singles around Lindrick (1957) venue. Interesting fact about Lindrick is that while playing you'll walk through 3 counties (Yorkshire, Notts and Derbyshire).

10th hole is a time machine. Took me back to the 1985 Ryder Cup, when Seve and Sam Torrance both hit the green with their tee shots. I believe the hole was closer to 260 then. Cheers from Texas🤠⛳🏌️

You mentioned the history of the Belfry, Dan, and were you aware it was a venue for rock concerts in the late 60s/early 70s and many huge bands including the Who, Led Zeppelin, Bowie, Free, Lindisfarne, Traffic to name but a few (and the list is endless) played gigs there during those years. Also spent my wedding night there in a huge room overlooking the 18th green, which was then known as the Augusta suite, some 35+ years ago!

9th hole, what a putt from Dan. And that shot from Joe the Pro, nearly impossible…under the trees, over the water, over the trap. So close to getting it on the green! Probably only Phil could have pulled that off, great shot Joe.

I actually eagled the 10th in the 90's the week before the ryder Cup. Battered it down to the safe left bail out. Then chipped over the Brook into the hole. Hhhaa happy memories.

Great golf being played, well-done Guys👍👍 I've been lucky enough to play the Brabazon several times and every time I have stood on the 1st tee full of confidence & hope. Yet every time I have trudged off the 18th Green, utterly dejected & defeated. It's one of the most deceptive Courses that I have ever played, it looks relatively open and straightforward, yet it has a way of sucking you in and spitting you out at the other end!

@@DanHendriksenGolf It is indeed and that is exactly what I used to tell my customers/suppliers/colleagues when they came to play at the Belfrey. Unless they were a good single figure handicap golfer I would politely suggest that they might have more fun if we played the PGA National or even the Darby courses. But because of its history, most just wanted to play the Brabazon, so I would advise them to bring plenty of balls! LOL
