As a Canadian on the outside of USRowing looking in, we sometimes scratch our heads at the idea of the trials system, but I can't deny the magical feeling that it seems to create and that you seem to have captured here. Bravo!!

Do you think the Charles fully appreciates how dope his mustache is?

I don’t think anyone truly can…it’s a whole new level of free speed that I aspire to!

Nice! I really love the sound of oars and oarlocks while rowing.......... I preferred to hear the real sound rather than background music.
@EamonGlavin3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, me too. It’s hard to record that sound over the sound of the engine right next to me blasting at nearly full power to keep up. So almost all of “rowing” audio from that day was unusable and it was way too much work to add fake audio for every stroke.

Beautiful and graceful sport. Relaxing to watch. Serious question. How do you know where you're headed if you look backwards all the time? Who steers or is "captain"?
@EamonGlavin3 жыл бұрын
It’s really easy to turn around and look back, and it’s usually the bowman’s job to steer the boat. They have a line connected from the rudder to the toe of their foot that can steer the boat as well. In smaller boats they just pull harder on one side.

Why the Hudson? Wouldn’t filippi or empacher be a more logical choice? Hudson shells aren’t necessarily known for being fast as much as for being cheap
@EamonGlavin3 жыл бұрын
Ah, I mean they’re not really much cheaper and they’re pretty well made now - especially the USP ones. Hudson Filippi and Empacher are pretty close to the same overall speed, just that the Euro brands have more history in the elite level. Hudson definitely have better support over here in the States and are growing pretty quickly over in Europe.
