The problem with alcohol is for a Christian it hurts our testimony when others see us drinking no matter how little. Many lives have been ruined with alcohol and the Bible also says we are not to conform to the world but be he transformed in the renewing of our minds. If someone wants to drink wine at home and do it in moderation it may not be a sin but it also isn’t a sin to not drink at all. God will honor that.

The question is not whether it's a sin or not...the question is this: Even if you never get drunk...if you are a social drinker, what does that do to your witness? That is, what if someone struggling spiritually sees you drinking and becomes confused, misguided or frustrated about what they are seeking to learn about Christ? In that situation, are you an example for Christ or an example of what someone might say is hypocrisy? Can you witness, or counsel others, perhaps in a church position or teaching role, and then go have beer or wine when you eat out? Can you go to church on Sunday but go out drinking other nights of the week? Sure, you can...but what message does that send? And if you are one who says 'I don't care, I'm having my drink,' then are you really walking in the spirit...or just pretending to when it suits your timeline and purpose?

Deuteronomy 14 instructs us to spend our tithes on a feast for our whole house, and we can spend that money on meat, or wine, or strong drink, or for whatsoever thy heart desires. Then every 3rd year, they were suppossed to put the tithes in the gate so strangers and poor people could give thanks. I've never heard any preacher tell this.

Alcohol used to alter the state of consiousness as say by Lot, to lay the blame on somebody else. A life controlled by another spirit. For the kingdom of heaven is near: and so often missed, or saved up for as to be able to enter another room at the End - and never will because you are not already standing in it.

Not refuting your message here at all but I did one time run into a guy that was trying to tell me that the wine of the old testament, specifically the wine that Noah drank after the flood, was just grape juice and contained no alcohol. I thought this was odd because the Bible says he drank and became drunk. Genesis 9:21. No telling how potent the wine was but it was obviously enough on which to become intoxicated. Anyway.. I always thought that was kind of humorous.
@ALL4SCUBA05 Жыл бұрын
Right? I mean how many gallons did he drink of that 1% wine?
@InvisibleCitizen4 жыл бұрын
The mashing and draining of grape juice can create juice with substantial alcohol without any sugar because grapes contain their own fermentable sugars. The alcohol level increases via natural airborne yeast. It takes a while though. Airborne yeast Fresh wine will be low alcohol but any wine several weeks old can be quite a bit higher. However we can assume that the consumption rate is very low.

@Livatube LOL. And if it's not a sin but a man-made-up rule, then loving God won't get in the way of enjoying that non-sin. Thus we can drink wine. The word used by Noah, being the same used by the priests in temple ceremony.

Proverbs 31:7 King James Version (KJV) 7 Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more. Is poverty an illness, sickness, or does drinking help us to forget this hell on earth, temporarily? God also made marijuana, its medicinal, it helps many, does it also change your bad moods, your heartaches and sorrow's? Of course it does.

Mr. Pearl, your explanation does not agree with the account of John 2. Especially v10 at the reaction of the governor of the feast to the wine Jesus created. Could you please address that in a future discussion on drinking. I'm not a drinker, never have been. Don't care for the stuff. Just seeking truth. The Bible tells us not to be a drunker this is plain and true. But in this story it's clear there is good wine and it's effects and new wine and it's effects on people, In this story it clearly depicts this 'wedding celebration with friends and family' with the effects of good wine, then after everyone is celebrating into the night Jesus creates 'good' wine and a whole lot of it too. So in my mind either Jesus was causing people to sin by providing good wine at this party OR drinking wine in celebration with friends and family is not a sin. Could you address this?

I can answer the question. When you put any substance ahead of god like money, alcohol, drugs, food, sex or anything...it is a condemning sin if you die while living that lifestyle. I am a recovering alcoholic that drank every night till I was drunk for 20 years. I was a drunkard and only cared about when the night came so I could get drunk. You cannot blame Jesus for making wine at one party, maybe you could if he did this every night and perpetuated people to become addicts. Example: I ate to much food at longhorn last night, does that mean I'm a glutton and will go to Hell or must I ask forgiveness? No because I do not live that life style. Let's say hypothetically Jesus made strong wine and there was somebody there that has never tried alcohol before and got hooked and started drinking every night. It would still be up to the individual to choose not to become a drunkard. He shouldn't blame Jesus, he should look at his own self and take responsibility and stop drinking every night especially listening to Jesus preach first hand. He would have nobody to blame but himself if he didn't stop.
@williambrecheen73664 жыл бұрын
I need to take issue with you on this one, sir. As others said, Jesus made wine, and it was the BEST wine of the wedding. But besides that, there is no sin to be with unbelievers in any situation, as long as we are being the salt of the earth. Jesus hung out with prostitutes and tax collectors, and not the religious folk. Getting drunk is a sin due to gluttony, just like eating too much. Drinking, in and of itself is not a sin, whether it's medicinal, at home with the family, or in a pub with friends. In the latter situation it's important that we do not get drunk, and that we do not join in any raunchy conversation. Jesus came to save the sick, right? How can we be light in the darkness if we never go to dark places? Love your ministry and your videos. Keep up the great work. I just don't agree with you on this one ( and here you cannot say I am not agreeing with the bible, because nowhere does it say drinking is a sin at any venue, only that getting drunk is gluttonous, and the drunkard is one who gets his life's joy from alcohol instead of God, continually, so it's your application that I disagree with)
@leelariviere5553 жыл бұрын
First, God bless, I enjoy your detailed explanations and use of scripture, even if I don't always agree with your interpretations. I'm a bit confused by this video as you regularly say believing christians in willful sin will be forgiven, raptured, and in heaven (which I don't interpret scripture the same on that point). But in this video you contradict that and say drunkards won't be forgiven or go to heaven. Struggling finding the logic or scripture to understand how they are different, drinking being worse and punished more severely than murder or adultery, i.e. that believing murders and adulterors will be forgiven but not drinkers (and through association, drug or pot users). Would you be able to help me with this apparent contradiction? Not challenging, I may just be misunderstanding your position.

Clearly a Baptist! John 2:10 “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you (Jesus) have saved the best til now.” Romans clearly tells us NOT to judge on matters of what you eat and drink. Yet, this guy clearly disagrees with that! Luke 7:34 Jesus is called a glutton and a drunkard and a friend of sinners! He never denies it. This is a childish, uneducated argument that is frowned upon in scripture. Eat and drink whatever you like! Deuteronomy 14 says to go buy wine and “strong drink”, anything you desire and go enjoy it with your family. I could go on and on and on with scripture. I do agree with his statement about the “setting” , not being a drunk, partying, etc.

Regarding giving a tenth of their goods as a contribution to the church ... Deut 14:24-26 says, "But if the journey should be too long for you and you are not able to carry it (their contribution) to the place that Jehovah your God chooses as the place for his name because it is far away from you (because Jehovah your God will bless you), you may then convert it into money, and with your money in hand, travel to the place that Jehovah your God will choose. You may then spend the money on whatever you desire-cattle, sheep, goats, WINE AND OTHER ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES, and anything you please; and you will eat there before Jehovah your God and rejoice, you and your household." Proverb 31:6-7, "Give ALCOHOL to those who are perishing and WINE to those in bitter distress. Let them drink and forget their poverty; Let them remember their trouble no more." Check these verses in your Bible. Some people shouldn't drink alcohol but others can drink just fine without becoming intoxicated. So each should decide for himself.

However my stepfather finally quit. And he was LOVED by his nurses. And I forgave him in person. In fact I asked him for forgiveness for hating him. And the walls came tumbling down, and he admitted to all the abuse, named them and asked for MY forgiveness that day. Cool huh.
