The use of WMDs (Nuclear Armaments/G-Bombs) against the BETA

There are further use of Nuclear Weapons being used against the BETA in The Day After that is worth a look. For starters, Nuclear Mines are setup in the Salt Flats outside of Seattle, working like a nuclear minefield against BETA herds heading their way. Due to the state of the world in TDA, people don't mind the use of nuclear weapons as much in the Salt Flats. Additionally, during the attack on the JFK Hive, Nuclear Weapons from the ARTMISS systems are used against the Hive itself. Forces attacking the Hive did a big Laserjagd in preparation for it, ended up hitting the hive with two Nuclear missiles, eventually leading to the first Hive capture that didn't rely on G-Elements

I believe we need to make another video about that but this one following the alt timeline is where a 'clean' war is mostly viewed as best option as opposed to TDA where its just survive the hellscape by any an all means lol. Please keep it up. I'm relatively new to this franchise (about 2 years ago). And it has become my favourite multi-media project, if not story/world, ever. There is so little out there for this series in our English speaking community. Even in Japan, which I recently went to for work, I had a hard time finding some model kits. I haven't read everything yet but I'm getting there. Your content is a good refresher on lore I might have forgotten, or for sending my friends to sum up what I'm trying to say without writing them an essay longer than the plot of Alternative.

While we at I always thinking of [Directonal Nuclear Devices], like of Nuclear Shaped Charge or Nuclear Pumped Laser to destroy the Hives. Instead of using G element power to blast absolutely everything, they would focus multiple megatons power into a point. Simillar to how relatively light HEAT charge can penetrate armour, while you need heavier HE to do the same. Obviously ignoring how to get the device set up in fist place.

I have flip-flopped on my opinion of how they treat nukes but ultimately I think it makes sense. Against tactical units in the field a nuke primarily kills by thermal irradiance and by neutron radiation, not blast. In the prior case large BETA are less susceptible to the burns they would face and in the latter case, since the BETA are effectively organic machines, meant to operate in hostile environments (like space) with lots of neutron radiation it would make sense for them to be less susceptible to them. This isn’t even a phenomenon limited to Muv Luv. The US military largely moved away from tactical nukes because advanced guided weapons could have similar or even superior effects while being less politically sensitive and even cheaper. For example to take out an armored battalion advancing exploiting a gap in your lines you could either use a small tactical weapon (or several if they’re akin to a W48) or you could drop a few sensor fuzed munitions containers. You might need a couple more aircraft in the later case (emphasis on “might”) but you also don’t need all the rigamarole associated with using nukes.

But there is no Ai voice being used it is 110% our amazing new VA. The other channel YMMB is our good friend not ours in any capacity.
