I really don't know why emo gets so much hate. All it is is musicians that relate to a lot of mental illnesses and writing songs about it. This type of music has probably saved more lives than any other genre.
@TrumanBest4 жыл бұрын
Well I guess a lot of people don't like it because some think the emo lifestyle almost sort of praises the self pity and the feelings of depression. As if its kind of an example of how to life, rather than trying to life with it. And without really trying to deal with the problem, it sort of embraces it in a way which I also think could be harmfull to teens that go through a lot in their lifes. Especially if you think about how vulnerable and influenceable you are at such a young age. I used to be interested in emo stuff as well, but I'm actually glad I'm over it.
@jujufeirrieo28364 жыл бұрын
Studies show that teens feel better listening to more angsty and yelling type songs then pretending to be happy while singing along to happy sunshiny songs.
@TrumanBest4 жыл бұрын
@@jujufeirrieo2836 That's true! I absolutely agree with that. It's never a good thing to ignore sad or depressed feelings. I just said that some people can also take it too far by completely drown in their sadness and self pity without trying to cope with it. Especially at a younger age it's hard not to get carried away and not let those emotions take control. But no, of course never ignore them

Bert McCracken wrote “All That I’ve Got” about his pet Chihuahua, his girlfriend and their unborn child, all whom had died over the course of a month. These will be memories to older generations. New to younger generations. But they’ll always be valuable treasures that everyone could cherish. Enjoy this music and allow it to get through hard times in your life, as it did for us. Keep your head up, and keep exploring in music:)

Enjoy being young!!! Just think you would almost be 30 like me if you wanted to grow up with this music. I would give anything to be 15 again!

As a 29 year old, trust me be glad you didn't live through the 00s as a teen. It was the cringiest decade of them all. This music is a lot cooler out of context, believe me. I still can smell the scents of everyone's fried-to-death emo hair and the putrid smell of their infected snake bites.

Just turned 21. I've been listening since I was 15. Drunk af on my 21st b-day and just so happy that this beautiful sound is with me. The used will always be on my heart

You can say that again. I used to watch the First Hand, and the Captain and Kasey show. Good times, being 15 with zero responsibility. I was big into skating and BMX. We'd be 15-20 people deep at a small local skatepark ripping it. The best part about skateboarding or any other extreme sport is the encouragement and support you receive when working on a difficult trick. I've never met a snobby skateboarder or bike rider, definitely some of the best role models in my opinion.

I discovered this through my emo sister way back in like 05-06, always listened to it as a guilty pleasure. I just realised that for a while now, after loads of trauma.. I have nothing, only the company of my friends and ironically, it is all that ive really got. Almost like a premonition of things to come lol

I remember my sister showed me these guys and a bunch of rock, punk, and metal. Sadly she's got mental problems and I don't see her that often because of it. The used, Blue October, AFI, Metallica, Slipknot, are just a few bands that mostly remind me of her.

To this day thank you for saving me. My god I loved this song and the album didn’t leave my CD player for months. My dad got me this album, Green Day’s American Idiot, and The Killers Hot Fuss. I was 9 when he went to jail. This song helped me express how badly his being gone caught me. My mom made my life hell because I guess I was too much like him despite not being a problematic child. Graduated, then got a degree to make her happy but she still ain’t there. Dad came home, Then life keeps taking.. the people come and go but all we have is time even though it may be absolutely shit maybe that’s all we got sometimes so I’m glad those albums and this band has the most lingering love that no matter what I just love this album. It wore out by the way, my cd won’t play anymore but I framed it. I’ll always come back here when I know that being lost is okay sometimes, and it’s all that I’ve got.

Until I knew the lyrics sometime last year, I genuinely used to think it sung out: "I'll be just fine, pretending I'm yours, I'm far from lonely, and it's all that I've got." And I refuse to believe it the way it is actually written, because I carried my own version of the song my whole life, and it just adds so much more sentiment and heartbreak for me.
