GA fan here. I think these guys are missing the whole point about talent and some other key issues. If you go and look at the recruiting numbers Ohio State is right there with GA for the last five years. Michigan seems to be actually be playing above their recruiting. Here are the keys to Georgia's success. They recognize talent and they develop that talent. Look at a guy like Ladd McConkey. A three star player that has had a major impact. Look at Stetson Bennett. A walk on with two national championships. There are many other unheralded three star players that have had a major impact. Go back and look and you will see plenty of five star players on other teams that just faded away. They didn't get developed. The other issue where GA excels is depth. They lose a player and plug another in. The ones and twos are so close that it is almost not a drop off. I will give you an example of where teams like Bama and Ohio State fail on that end. They get the best WRs every year. They basically have two WRs that make most of the catches all year and when one gets hurt they fall apart. Then comes all of the excuses about our WR being hurt. Two of our best receivers(AD Mitchell and Arian Smith) didn't play most of the year but we played enough other guys that it didn't matter. If you have to complain and make excuses about one guy being hurt and it lost you the game you have made some very poor choices when it comes to depth. When GA beat BAMA for the National Championship the Bama fans were using that excuse about their two WRs being hurt. Go back and look at the stats where GA and Bama played common teams. In all of those games Bama had their WRs. Ga beat the crap out of all of those teams and Bama with their two WRs barely beat those same teams. When you out all of your apples in one barrel you can expect to get disappointed. Until these other teams decide that they are going to develop some depth they need to stop whining when they lose. A team is more than one guy.

Georgia doesn't recruit 3 star players sir, you gotta have that 4th or 5th star and even then a decent chance that you redshirt, stetson had 5 years to work a system and learn it, and did!
@mikef5167
@mikef5167 Жыл бұрын
@@jamesjenkins8364 You need to go to 247 sports and look at the ratings. Ladd McConkey is a three star and there are other three stars. They have three or four every year. Kirby and company find lots of diamonds in the rough. Stetson didn't have five years to learn the "system." Ga ran Todd Monken's offense and he was only there three years. He was there from 2020-2022.
@jamesjenkins8364

@Mike F split the difference, I was wrong about McConkey, you were wrong about Bennett: Bennett's official time at UGA is listed as 2017, 2019-2023 with 2018 at Jones. That's a lot of years to learn the system
@mikef5167
@mikef5167 Жыл бұрын
@@jamesjenkins8364 You are still not understanding what I am saying. Todd Monken put in a completely new system when he arrived in 2020. It was not even remotely the same as the offenses before that. It was a completely new offensive system. Stetson did not study one system for six years. Stetson did not even start working in that new system until 2020 and even then he was third string and getting few if any reps. He did start a few games in 2020. Even in 2021 when GA won the national championship Stetson did not start the year as the starter. JT Daniels was the starter until he got hurt. Stetson did not become the full time starter until the fifth game of 2021. He had the job after that and that was when he really started getting the chance to run the system. Even then they had him dialed back. When he started his 2022 season he was QB1 from spring camp on. The most he had in that new system was two full years when you add up the few games in 2020 and 2021. He got all of 2022 as the starter. There are five star guys under him right now that had as much time in that system and they did not beat him out. That says a lot about how good he really is.

@The Valenti Show with Rico - It is simple. There is *Talent disparity* between Michigan and Georgia/Bama. The entire B1G conference signed a *SINGLE* 5-star player (OSU signed him) recently while Georgia and Alabama signed double digits each. While OSU achieves less despite having more talent, Michigan achieves more despite having less talented players. Michigan needs to recruit better and compete for the players coming out of the SEC footprint since they are better players (fact) and more of them. Michigan dropped the ball on using the NIL process to attract talent and it will take its toll in 2-3 years when current talent leaves and there is no pipeline of talent through recruiting. Harbaugh needs to stop interviewing every year for an NFL job because no talented player will consider committing to Michigan when the HC always talks about leaving... You cannot rely on Transfer Portal alone to save you.

@@shopins2002 My comment was made last year before Blake Corum and other talented players decided to return to Michigan for one more year (and won the Natty). The "Those Who Stay" NIL program to help players who decide to return for one more year instead of moving on to NFL enabled Michigan to level out the playing field in terms on talent disparity (great move). Additionally, Coach Harbaugh ringed the bell for the Natty win and moved over to NFL (I think S. Moore elevated to HC is the right move). Jesse Minter (DC with NFL papers in defense) will be missed greatly so we shall see what Michigan does for 2024.

Everybody keeps talking about the injury to Ohio State WR Harrison and he had a hell of a game. But do you know how many catches and yards he had after halftime? ZERO, Georgia adjusted after halftime and shut him down. So I don’t think it would have made a difference. Kirby Smart won that game with that timeout and their kicker choked. He missed that FG by 75 feet, just wasn’t meant to be.
@jwb1227
@jwb1227 Жыл бұрын
Also, OSU Defense choked in the entire 4th quarter... the MONEY quarter. Let a 14-point lead slip away and lost them the game. All OSU fans on comments talk about are OSU Offense and names of players on offense. They don't know the names or failed to mention the names of players on defense. At some point, they have to play some defense to win big games in CFP. They cannot build teams to beat average teams in B1G conference. They have to build a team to beat and compete against top SEC teams to win a Natty.

They are just on another level schematically and obviously the talent. Michigan and MSU would need better coaching period to even compete. They also have to recruit way better, I think harbaugh has under recruited in recent years. This class he has coming in this year is so mid. It’s a slap in the face if you ask me. And Mel Tucker, god bless his heart. But he’s inherited a dumpster fire. It’s transfer portal or bust for him. Which ain’t gonna win shit in the big 10. He needs deeper classes. Why do you people keep on talking about "if" Marvin Harrison and "if" Ohio States other receiver had played, the score would have been different! Just for the record, Georgia's two top receivers were injured and played in only a few plays. Their top linebacker was out for the season. Georgia missed two field goals they should have made and threw a rare interception. Georgia played a terrible game and still won. Ohio State should be proud they lost by only one point. Had Georgia played their A game, they would've won by 21 pts or more. Folks, Ohio State is nowhere near Georgia or Alabama's talent level. Get over it!!!

No Michigan did not beat Ohio State because of Michigan style of football. Ohio State dominated Michigan qt the line of scrimmage. Michigan won the game because they had five shoots plays thanks to the mistakes in Ohio State secondary. The rest of the game Ohio State dominated Michigan's line of scrimmage. That was a fluke win now the win before that two years ago that was a legitimate went but hey one when I was 20 years I can't be upset about that. You prove my point. OSU *DEFENSE* choked in the 4th quarter against Georgia. Let a 14-point lead slip away. At some point, you have to play some defense to win a CFP game. This is the man's game... not that weak B1G conference games OSU plays most of the year. Only team who kinda plays like SEC is Michigan and look what happened. Took an L because of OSU Defense blowing coverage 5 times... 3 of them in 4th quarter.

@@lil-broskiegg9670 No more selective than assuming OSU is actually on Georgia's level. But anyone with two eyes and a brain knows CJ Stroud has refused to scramble his entire career, but he did so against Georgia. Bottom line is this: if you want to believe OSU is as good as Georgia, then you'll tell yourself that based on the score. If you believe Georgia just had a bad game and that OSU was just playing out of their minds, you'll tell yourself that. Selective interpretation goes both ways.
