We lie to ourselves about the future. We lie to ourselves about the past. We lie to ourselves about the present. These lies have become a currency. A currency without which living at all would become impossible.

People cling to the myth of ethical progress out of fear and insecurity about the future. Since the future can never be known with any degree of certainty, that fear and insecurity as well as the myth of ethical progress will continue to thrive. The only way out of the loop is to confront our fears and face the very true fact of our impending deaths. Once we've assuaged these fears and insecurities the myth of ethical progress will wane as well.
