It raises some interesting questions. I would like an explanation has to why the only people that have flown through the belts were back in the 60’s…..

They always claim the Van Allen Belts are harmless and yet nobody has since dared to traverse through it except the Apollo astronauts.

It’s NOT the federal government. Those guys are intellectually inept. It’s the private military contractors of Atomic Energy Commission (Department of Energy).

Apollo astronauts, and astronauts in the upcoming visits to the Moon, will have to travel through some of these belt regions because the orbit of the Moon lies along the fastest line-of-travel from Earth. On the scale of the above figure, the distance to the Moon is 60 Re. 1. The speed of the spacecraft will be about 25,000 km/hour. If the spacecraft travels along the indicated path, how long, in minutes, will it spend in the Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red regions? Note: transit estimates may vary depending on how accurately students measure figure. Blue: 1.8 Re x (6378 km/Re) x (1 hour/25,000 km) x (60 minutes/1 hour) = 27.6 minutes Yellow: (1.4 x 6378) /25,000 x 60 = 21.4 minutes Orange: (1.0 x 6378) / 25,000 x 60 = 15.3 minutes Green: (0.25 x 6378)/25,000 x 60 = 3.8 minutes Red: 0 minutes Total transit time……………………… 68.1 minutes 2. Given the indicated radiation dosages in Rads/sec for each zone, what will be the dosages that the astronauts receive in each zone? Blue: = 27.6 minutes x ( 60 sec/ 1 minute) x (0.0001 Rads/sec) = 0.17 Rads Yellow = 21.4 minutes x 60 sec/minute x 0.005 rads/sec = 6.42 Rads Orange = 15.3 minutes x (60 sec/minute) x 0.01 rads/sec = 9.18 Rads Green = 3.8 minutes x (60 sec/minute) x 0.001 rads/sec = 0.23 Rads 3. What will be the total radiation dosage in Rads for the transit through the belts? 0.17 + 6.42 + 9.18 + 0.23 = 16.0 Rads 4. Some people believe that the Apollo moon landings were a hoax because astronauts would have been instantly killed in the radiation belts. According to the US Occupation Safety and Health Agency (OSHA) a lethal radiation dosage is 300 Rads in one hour

“I’m just trying to be as generous as possible” Since when has NOT cherrypicking and NOT changing the context and NOT misrepresenting someone been considered the “generous” option? How far we fall….

The Earth is flat. That is a fact. ...see how easy it is to say things are facts when they're not? It's also incredibly easy for people to believe people when they say this phrase.

Just like an X-ray machine the danger from radiation comes from the length of the exposure. If you just stand there in front of the machine for hours it can kill you, but a quick picture is safe. The Van Allen Belts are shaped like a doughnut that cling to the Earth on the sides and have no presence at the poles. So the safest route would have been to travel up from the pole, but this wasn't feasible because you would need considerably more fuel than launching from near the equator. So the compromise was to the launch the spacecraft at an angle to avoid as much of Van Allen Belts as possible. The Apollo missions took a minimum exposure trajectory. They were able to just skirt the first belt with speed 25000 km/h and traveled through the second one very quickly. The ship also had a degree of radiation shielding, or at least as much as they could put on there

Have heard/read a few things on this 'issue' - and for me there are no answers fr any credible source. Since when, as a sole source of info, can the Fed Gov't of USA ( or anywhere ) be trusted with anything ? What source of info on this issue has undeniable and professional-level credibility, and is beyond the 'influence' of the original sole-source ? Also, any documented readings of how much radiation the astronauts absorbed ? Is there any audio even asking them about radiation readings they are getting while going thru the radiation 'cloud' ? Any documents on radiation level of the astronauts when they returned ? Any recordings of them even being asked, specifically about this issue ? What's that Cliche ? What has been believed by all people for all time has every chance of being wrong. I do not know the truth of this situation, but I question everything.

Ok so like a few years ago I saw an experiment where they bombarded a Geiger counter with the same level of radiation that astronauts would have received during this passage. Then the put a single 1/5th inch thick dome of regular plexiglass glass over it and did it again and it all but blocked the radiation completely. This guy is a kook.

there is more technology in your cellphone than they had on any of the Apollo missions. Those rockets were so basic and mechanical there was nothing for the radiation to damage. It's like the emp burst after a nuke blows up. if the radiation wasn't the issue then the emp burst would take out everything electrical and digital. there was barely anything digital on the Apollos if any. Back then computers used to take up whole rooms. This guy is a total quack.

This guy is a nimrod This is from an internet search (not google either) "According to NASA, the radiation levels in the Van Allen belts would be dangerous to humans if they were exposed for an extended period of time. The Apollo missions minimized hazards for astronauts by sending spacecraft at high speeds through the thinner areas of the upper belts, bypassing the inner belts completely, except for the Apollo 14 mission where the spacecraft traveled through the heart of the trapped radiation belts. In 2011, a study confirmed earlier speculation that the Van Allen belt could confine antiparticles, which could potentially be used to study the properties of matter and antimatter. It’s worth noting that the Van Allen belts are not a barrier to spaceflight, and astronauts have successfully traveled through them without harm. In fact, nine Apollo missions sent humans through the Van Allen belts, and the astronauts survived just fine."
