I must say that this video was done REALLY well. I loved all the detailed information the owner gave, he spoke clearly, didn't repeat himself and gave a great overview of a fantastic overlooked collector car - 928. I really wish there were more of this type of video out there ... average guys with collections, no swearing, lots of information ... thank you!

This video has reached legend status in the 928 world. That 1980 Euro S spec bronze car is my favorite of the bunch featured in this video. Awesome collection. The pure design on the early cars is the spec for me but I do like the early S rear spoiler and 4.7 much improved engine. 5 speed is a must too so my search for the right one may take a while.

So great to finally see a Porsche collection which is NOT focussed on 911s. With the 928s my personal favourites are the later models withe the more structured, balanced (as opposed to rounded) looks such as the 928GTS (which is now quite an expensive collector's item finally!), but all 928s are worth preserving. Well done!

As a lover of 928 model Porsches since my childhood, it was really great to see such a well directed video. I agree 100% with other viewers in that the owner was fantastic about the level of detail and expert knowledge; not only about the cars in general but about specs of specific years, models, color combinations, etc. it was a great learning experience. As someone looking to purchase and restore a 928, it's invaluable gaining all this knowledge of the models and years. Thanks very much for it.

I had a 1978 black on black 928. It was pure with clean lines all around without all the attached plastic. The naturally aspirated V8 combined with the 5 speed were incredible. Quirky? Yes, but it was my first Porsche and without prior Porsche experience and preconceived biases or expectations I accepted the car for exactly what it was, a grand tourer, and absolutely loved it. I had several different Porsches through the years and this remains my favorite. My current ride is an LC 500, one of the last of the naturally aspirated V8's in a GT or any other car for that matter.

What a nice collection, I wish I had more time, space and money. More money basically... But I'm sorry to correct you: there's one more continental orange 928 in the world - mine ;-) It is #1090, born october 1st, 1977 and just 80k kilometers on the clock. It was first delivered to Switzerland (where it still is, I bought it five years ago). Everything is still original, just the interior (Pascha black & white) got a refit recently. Unfortunately the previous owner had the stupid idea to paint it black, but it will be back in orange soon (it still is under the bonnet and in the trunk)... Please keep us updated with your projects! Best wishes from Switzerland Kai

Kai - I only meant that mine was the only known Continental Orange - Black/Blue Pascha car known..I actually know there are several continental orange '78's out there - one in South Africa (Black Leather interior), one other in in states (Black leather as well). I have the only documented Black/Blue Pascha Orange car, and I believe yours may be the only black/white Pascha car! Hard to tell, but just know there aren't many out there! Would love to see pics of yours or follow the restoration. I am vanD on rennlist.com

very very nice, Magnus Walker is snatching up 924 Turbos by the handful. It is believed that he has 12 of them currently. I bet Magnus Walker would love to check out this guy's collection, he's also looking for 928 early models 70's, with no rear spoilers. if that tells you anything find yourself a clean one and hang on to it for at least five years see what the market does. I'm hanging on to my 88 924S Special Edition, only 500 for the U.S. in 1988, less than half are believed to still exist and very few in excellent condition and not destroyed by boy racer type guys, or rotting away in someone's backyard or a junkyard, and 87 924S in pristine condition. Been going up in value last 3 years, quietly and the 924S-SE those who know how special they are, would pay $$$ for one with the least of added options that would end up weighing the car down.

I have a 1980 928 5 speed sunroof delete car in cashmere beige with tobacco brown interior. It runs and drives as new. 928's have been known to run over 600K miles and counting as the motors simply don't wear out. From the factory, Porsche infused the cylinder liners with silicone crystals and they were the first to perfect this process with Reynolds aluminum. Get a 928 while you still can at a reasonable price..especially the 5 speed 78, 79, or 80. Those are the collector cars.

I agree this is the best 928 video I’ve seen yet.... I have always loved the 928 but didn’t get one earlier because either they’re underpowered or get 70s gas mileage for the long highway GT trips I want to use them for. I don’t regret not having one as much as I regret Porsche not offering a ‘fuel economy’ V6 option or something. I know that’s not the purist approach but I want to fix and use my cars and not collect. None of the engine swaps out there turn me on either. It kind of feels like one step away from perfection for me...I’m going to become one those 944 drivers with the slightly annoyed, punchable faces, I think.

The best one is the one you fall in love with! There are numerous more practical considerations - the 928 forum on Rennlist is the best place to learn about them. The biggest factor, however, is to know your own abilities and limitations. While not as crazy as owning an Italian supercar of the same era - it is German, after all! - it's not a car most people can own "casually".

My father drove a 928 in orange for 6 maybe 9 months with an automatic transmission. His friend owned the Hamburg MB dealership on Rotenbaumchauße and he loaned him the car while he was waiting for his new 380SEC to be delivered. This would have been in 1982(?). The Porsche had come in as a trade-in and MB were going to repaint it because the colour was too much and they couldn’t sell it second hand even with a price reduction. Anyway it was parked outside my father’s restaurant and someone sideswiped it and took the passenger side off it. So I don’t know what happened there as it disappeared. My father’s MB was delivered about 6 weeks later so it didn’t really bother him. I had no idea that the orange cars were so rare. Germans in the late 70s/early 80s had the most horrible taste in colours. My father went on to have a primrose yellow Mercedes 380SL in 1986. It was an ex demonstration vehicle from the showroom that was 18 months old. My father got it cheap because MB changed all the SL models in 86 so the dealership sold off all the old showroom cars. Beautiful car, awful colour.
