As a kid I used to love Karloff because I knew he was going to be in something very scary, but as an adult I have realized what an excellent actor he is. His range of characterizations are infinite. Not only do I still like him, but now I have a great respect for him as well.

@@michaelwertzy9808 Quite correct. Indeed, "The Monster" never had a name in all the Frankenstein movies. He was simply "The Monster throughout.

Both of you responders are 'correct', yet wrong: ever after the 1st Frankenstein movie, the "monster" was referred to as simply "FRANKENSTEIN" by the public! Back in the early 60s, I owned two plastic scene models of both 'Frankenstein' and Lugosi's 'Dracula'. I'd give a perty to have them today, but sadly I was an Army Brat, and during our many transfers, my "practical Mom not only threw them away, but also my two boxes full of 50s-60s Action & DC comics as well! Imagine the bucks I lost in THAT foolishness? I even had the complete Bob Haney run of "Metamorpho"!! Yep- I cried!

i have a suspicion our "gifts" come not from the brain but channeled from times long past. It is not the brain that writes books and poems. The search for that source is futile. As sprigs of lemon grass and thyme flavour the festive turkey our "gifts" flavour the human soul with tuneful voice and artistic expression.

The Veil was produced in 1958, but never broadcast. Production was cancelled after only 12 episodes which was considered too few to justify sales to a network or to syndication. Boris Karloff's Thriller aired during the 1960-61 and 1961-62 seasons on NBC.

Not much of a family resemblance between Luana and her grandmother, lol. Ursula Andress had the face of a goddess -- a bona fide beauty whose features transcended anything a Hollywood plastic surgeon could create (her beauty is similar to the youthful incarnations of actresses like Catherine Deneuve, Bridgett Bardot, and Sharon Tate). I honestly wasn't thrilled with this particular story, but I love this genre so much that I'll watch just about any of them that are (generously) posted. Also interesting was seeing Detective Vincoli (played by Frank de Kova)' he would go on to play Chief Wild Eagle of F Troop's comical Hekawi Tribe (among other lesser known character roles). Thanks for sharing this with a faithful audience. Much appreciated!

Great imaginative episode, even if based on earlier short-story or other sources, though I don't know if this was the case. The French accents were passably okay, they didn't bother me. Karloff's was quite good, I thought. Of course, none of these characters would've spoken English among themselves in reality but this was necessary for American TV, for which I have no problem. The cast in this episode were effective and believable, with fine acting. As I like to write myself, I found this story revolving around a writer who's been jilted by a fickle lover, and who's laboring under a severe case of writer's-block, appealing & interesting. Enjoyed the French atmosphere overall. Seems to me, the writer could've used the crystal-ball-related events as a basis for the romance-story he was under contract to complete!

wiki: Hailed by critics as "the greatest television series never seen" (according to DVD release publicity) The Veil was never broadcast. Troubles within the studio (and the collapse of a preliminary co-production arrangement with National Telefilm Associates) resulted in production being cancelled after only 10 episodes (an additional episode called "Jack the Ripper" had been produced by another studio and was acquired by the Roach Studios; Boris Karloff only introduces the episode). This was considered too few to justify sales to a network or to syndication. In the late 1960s, footage from several episodes was combined to make films that aired on late night television. Ten episodes were released to the public in their entirety for the first time in the 1990s and have subsequently been released on DVD by Something Weird Video. In 1999, "Lifting the Veil of Mystery," a Tom Weaver article on the making of the series (complete with episode guide), appeared in issue #29 of Cult Movies magazine. It was later expanded into the book SCRIPTS FROM THE CRYPT: The Veil which featured the scripts of several episodes, the series' history, a chapter on Boris Karloff's career as a TV anthology host, etc. THANK YOU PIZZAFLIX!!!
