Saw them in their early days just called Verve. They were supporting Spiritualized. A night of pure psychedelic fuzz, haze and lights. Great night was had.

Completely agree about Nick, but can we give Richard credit? He's pretty brilliant himself, and moreover he's a hard worker and a great director of energy. What has Nick done without Richard to push him to work? Not much, sadly. They need each other like Lennon and McCartney, like the Gallagher brothers, like Morrissey and Marr. They're an incredible team who enhance each other's creativity in spectacular ways. When together they are greater than the sum of their parts.

Yes I saw Verve in Norwich on a very early tour. Richard's stage presence even then was overwhelming.I was right up the front and had my eyes closed for much of the set because it was so hypnotic and I wanted to focus on the music.
