@powerofk
@powerofk 3 жыл бұрын
@@Gingersnaps_the_pumpkin_kitty The New Testament writers did in fact use the Greco-Roman Hades and Tartarus as an image of the Christian version of the afterlife of the damned. Jesus himself often used the Hinnom Valley south of Jerusalem (Gehenna) as the image because it had been used first as a place where human sacrifice (by fire) was offered, and later as a garbage dump where the garbage was constantly being incinerated. Simply put, both Jesus and the NT writers used images and terms their audiences (Jesus's primary audience was Jewish; most of the NT writers had a Greco-Roman audience) would understand. Of course, the name Hell that English-speakers use to describe this comes from the Norse. Oddly enough, Latin-based languages simply use the term "Inferno" (literally "raging fire").

Could have given Kampe a mention. She was the monster that guarded the cyclopes and the hecatoncheires (aka the houndred-handed ones) when they were imprisoned in Tartarus by the Titans. She was basically a "dragon-centaur" with a scorpion tail, and the area were the human part and the dragon part met was constantly bubbling and forming animal heads which retreated back into the body again. She also had snake hair like Medusa, and vipers coiled around each of her legs.

The intro melody always makes me happy when I hear it, I don't know why, but I like it 😂😂😂 The story of King Sisyphus is oe of my favorites because a lot of people tend to think of Thanatos as someone, for lack of a better word, "negative" since he is death but the fact that he showed Sisyphus how his chains work, as kind of a last wish by Sisyphus, is just one example that shows that Thanatos is actually really kind and gentle, especially with the dead

this made me realize how many variations are there of there myths. According to what i read Tartarus was basicly a sky underground as in a humungous pit, mortal spirits werent allowed there and only the monsters gained punishment there. It was also the place were dead monsters reformed and new were created. I also read that in the underworld there 3 places you could go to( excluding Tartarus , the fields of punishment, elsyum( that paradise place, i dunno how to spell it) and a place called Asphodel where you went because you were neither bad nor good. I was also informed that the guardian of Tartarus was a monster called Kampe.

I'd definitely pick feeding the donkey, I'm an animal lover, and it just seems slightly frustrating compared to tortuous. Thanks dude, I love your sense of humour, and how you always uncover tales that I've never heard of.
