the break has been really nice.
i gave myself plenty of time to edit this vlog, and it felt like the old days.. spending 15+ hours on a vlog, thoughtfully making every minute decision, all for the fun of it and none of it for the sake of completing something. my heart smiles.
this is a compilation of footage in the week's time right after my school got out on break, before my mom, sister and I left for europe on our girl's trip. Those travel vlogs shall be coming soon, too.
What was your favorite segment in this vlog? it's really packed with adventure. I forgot to caption at 05:05 that this would be a very fancy upgrade as prairie's future pram, lol. funny because it is similar in color to the one she has now too!
(she's currently sunbathing not far from our feet, her little ears warm and pink from the heat).
It's nearly noon now, though my original goal was to get this up and done by yesterday night! crazy, i actually stayed up until 3am very enthralled with at least exporting the file. today is the end to our weekend, and I am to spend it with tyler. He's had some work to finish as well, but we planned to put aside today as our date day to go out to the farmer's market, maybe go on a run or hike, etc. I appreciate that he's understanding and will wait for me all morning to finish this.

it is no exaggeration that it's SO important to nourish ourselves from within in order to be able to go about this world sustainably (lastingly), and happily. I've realized it is necessary to think a lot about ourselves. what do we need? no one is gonna know that better than ourselves, and sometimes it takes some effort to find out what it is.
for me, it's been nature, cooking, reading, brainstorming about art projects, peace & quiet, and taking care of my body in ways of exercise and skincare.
I hope to get a PO box soon (I know i've been saying this with no result for months, but i really do want to write you)

dear friend, I haven't commented in such a long time but this vlog made me compelled to do so. You have the ability to capture simple moments in life and make them into beautiful sequences and I enjoy every second of it. The butterfly garden bit had me crying - I keep thinking about how much my dad would appreciate going to something like that but he cannot since he has stage 4 cancer. Ew I'm crying as I'm writing this ANYWAY your vlogs make me so appreciative for what I have and who I still have in my life and I love you so much for sharing bits of your life with us. dearest eve, I am sorry to hear about the pain of a parent going through cancer, how hard it is on him and on everyone around you guys. There’s no easy way, it’s just hard. My mom told me a month ago that my dad’s cancer is back, this time at an early enough stage where, hopefully, chemo and surgery will ‘cure’ it for some time.. it’s been scary for me, for all of us to reopen the wounds of fearing loss, and to be honest I try not to think about it when I’m able to be blissfully ignorant on my summer break away from California. But I’ll be home soon, a part of me wishes I could be taking care of my dad everyday. But it’s also important for me to not put unnecessary guilt like that on myself. As for public speaking, I totally get it! Just realize that you’re anxious because you’re afraid of messing up, and you’re afraid because a part of us always wants to be perfect. When we can accept that we make mistakes, and that others shouldn’t judge us because of it, it’s easier to deal with things like that. I hope to talk to you more soon, eve. Dear Annabelle, I find you immensely inspiring. Before watching this video, I deliberately put a stool in front of my favourite grandma chair and rested my laptop on that stool. It was already 14:30, but it was lunch time for me. I grabbed the bowl of couscous salad with tempeh and gently sat down on my favourite grandma chair. With the bowl resting on my thighs, I moved the cursor to hover on the thumbnail of this video, and click I go. Thanks for giving me this wonderful time to take in your creation, to take in nourishment from food and to simply rest my body on, again, my favourite grandma chair. Back to your question, I am doing better. Two weeks ago, I was in a very dark state, but with the help of lots of crying and talking to loved ones, this darkness slowly eased away. Even though it was really difficult to be in that state, it has been another good lesson, another good reminder that every single second lived is a victory. I hope you're enjoying Europe. ​@@lifeofpyper I've been good, thanks ^_^ finishing up another year at school was quite hectic. but ill be graduating next year, so i'm doing an internal happy dance at that prospect. i'm living with my bf this summer in texas. i miss being home in the bay area and in socal, but i know ill go back for a bit sometime next month. and lol. when i was like 8, i remembering taking my sisters copy of wuthering heights, and would march around the house and pretend to read it in front of my family like i knew what was going on.

Dear Annabelle, I just came back from a 2.5 days silent retreat where I put my phone on flight mode and only check whatsapp for urgent matters (none) for a few seconds in the morning and night. It was very refreshing. I brought paint and paper wanting to paint during free time but there's really not much free time so I only managed to sketch. Which was really fun too! I'm happy you had a great time and I hope you feel much better than in your last vlog =)
