The Evolution scales do have a nice ergonomic feel to them. I have a Evogrip 18 in yellow and like it very much. Those wood grips look cool. They will probably hold up over time well and they are likely not as slippery as the plastic. Very nice!

Cool video! The best Cellidor Victorinox is the "Climber" in my opinion. Three layer perfection ! Haven't tried an Evolution line out yet.
@swissarmydan93543 жыл бұрын
I must agree, I’m partial to the Climber but I do wish it had a file replacing the small blade or at least on the parcel hook. Thanks for watching! Cheers!!!
@doejon94243 жыл бұрын
@@swissarmydan9354 I always thought they could grind a small precision nail file on the side of the hook. Maybe even two. Yes, it would be small but for a nail file it would do the job just fine for nails
@tidge8793 жыл бұрын
@@doejon9424 they actually make a parcel hook with a file on it. It's the one on the Compact.
@doejon94243 жыл бұрын
@@tidge879 I found this out after posting that. It's mind boggling that it's not standard ! It doesn't take up any extra space or impare the structural use of the hook. Must be a tedious to manufacture ?
@tidge8793 жыл бұрын
@@doejon9424 yeah, it's the only reason I can think of that the Compact is almost twice the price of any other 2 layer tool. I'm guessing that the file part is laser cut. And it must be a pain to take the stamped out hooks, orient, align, and clamp them precisely enough to laser cut the file on to them.

Superb video, Dan! I think the walnut scales are beautiful, but I prefer the added utility what the Cellidor scales offer with the scale tools. Besides that, when I clean the knife, I'm not afraid of ruining the Cellidor scales. I miss the Wenger can opener, but I actually like the Victorinox reamer/punch. Cheers!

I have an Evowood 14 and love it. The scissors aren't quite as good as the 91mm ones, but I prefer the more bellied blade and the locking function on the cap lifter/screwdriver. And obviously the walnut scales look super smart as well 😊

I love the Delemont knives and I like the can opener change I do agree about the awl access in I wish they left the Wenger awl or made theirs accessible through the scale. That being said the Sportsman is still my favorite EDC although I wish they would flip the surface so it cant scratch the blade. I think the rough area is recessed into the blade so that was the thinking but it definitely can scratch the blade.

Great video Dan, been missing them, haha. That Evo wood looks pretty cool. I do prefer the sportsman though, the retention and the thicker metal on the tools make me prefer it. Keep it up buddy!

So is that a Spartan with wood and the price tripled? You have just informed my that my almost 30 year old SAK is infact a Wenger Commander. It's still working fine but the main blade doesn't stay solidly open thought the other blades do so something up with that. I have never ever used or needed to use the can opener but it looks like it would do the job well. Just used the nail file the other day and found it good. My nail clipper with file had died. Ordered a new Spartan and Forester still to receive but looking at some of these small wood versions & possibly the Ranger but the wood seems to add a lot to the prices so making sure I choose correctly before ordering & will wait to see the ones I have ordered to see what I think. Maybe I need nothing more but it's interesting to look into.

I don't wear glasses, so I don't need the eye glass driver. But, I do wish that someone would make a t8 torx in that style, so I could use my victorinox to tighten the pivot on my pocket knife!

noticed two key rings then the pocket clip.. why two??
@swissarmydan93543 жыл бұрын
A couple of reasons, first I don’t want to go through the trouble of removing a split ring. Second, with the 2 rings there’s more flexibility for the knife to sit in the pocket straight without tension/twisting with the clip attached to the rim of the pocket. Thanks for watching! Cheers!!!

I prefer victorinox mostly. Like with the can opener. If you choose to have a corkscrew. The can opener works good on most Philips. The bottle opener is bigger n can fit 1/4 inch sockets. I’m not a fan of the wenger scissors/ pliers spring compared to the Vic’s. Neither do I care for the larger belly on the knife blade. I find it dulls faster. At least for me. With that said, I like certain aspects of the wengers. Like the can opener having that sharp edge. The locking bottle opener. Lol that’s about it. Bc I’d still choose the Vic’s version over it. The springs on the scissors n pliers are just miles better. The large blade works better for me. Rather have the can opener that doubles as a Philips screw driver n the bottle opener that’s bigger. I do like the file instead of the secondary small Vic blade tho

No Wenger after 2014 is a true Wenger, has to be pre 2004, took 10 years for Victorinox to fully absolve Wenger into their line up. All about the stamps on the blade, even down to the meat knives, I used swibo skinning knives for 10years and they went to shit with the Vic stamp on the blade, got 1 Wenger Skinner left blade stamped 😁👌🤷
