Oh Julia. This resonates, though it does not need too resonate for me to feel empathy for your loss. My great aunt who lived till 93, and died over a year ago, was like a mother, father, grandmother to me. Even when I moved overseas, she called me and I called her. Until she couldn't anymore. I don't think I have truly proccessed my loss yet and seeing your pain- I still feel somewhat disconnected from mine. I am not ready but I am still tearing up for you. Sweet Julia, I'm so deeply sorry for you and your family. I've always loved the videos you've shared with your Gran in them and the love between you was evident. I have the same bond with my granddaughter as she lives with me and when it's my time to go, the last thing I want is for her not to be able to move on. I know she'll miss me, but i want her to hang on to the love we shared and remember the things I've taught her. I'm pretty sure that your Gran would feel the same and that she'd be sad to know how much you're struggling. It's very early days and you're in shock and i think the rawness will wear off and you'll be able to properly grieve. Take your time and do it your way, with support from Matt and your family. I never knew my grandparents and that's why I've vowed to be the best one I can for my granddaughter, but I don't ever want her to suffer like i see you are now. I’m so sorry for this loss . I am so glad you went and were with your family during this time. It is important to grieve and to have been able to do that with family. Grief is horrible in the beginning… like tidal waves crashing over us. The waves will begin to grow smaller and less frequent. Julia, I am so sorry for your loss. I know that the pain you are feeling now is overwhelming but I need to tell you that although you won’t “get over” your loss you will learn to cope and live with it. I know that at this point you may think that it won’t happen but I promise you it will happen; it will be slow but it will happen. I lost my mum 12 months ago (April 29) and it has been very hard. Lots of tears and guilt (for no reason); some days were ok (and I felt guilty about that) ok but then the pain of grief would overwhelm me. Matt will help you just as my partner did; take all of the love and hugs you are offered. I spoke to a counsellor as well and it has helped me. You are the good loving person you are today because of your gran and how you showed your love to her. Whatever you do, remember that. x

Julia, my Gramma died 20 years ago when i was 26. She was amazing and i miss her so much. Your raw emotion brought me to tears. I am still reeling from my feelings. You will never stop missing your Gran and nothing will fill the void she has left. The thing that you can do to have comfort in her absence is live your life ina way that honors her and treat people the way she treated you. Oh Julia what a heartbreaking video. So hard to watch you so upset. Nan's are very special and I grew up with my nan and grandad from the age of 10, my grandparents were so precious to me. Like you they were not just grandparents but like my parents too. My nan taught me to knit! One of my fondest memories as a child is shelling peas at the kitchen table that my grandad had grown in his allotment ❤ give yourself time to grieve. I always loved the videos of when you visited your Gran and when you would cook together, it was so beautiful to watch. Allow yourself the time and space to just "be" and to grieve her loss in your life. There is no right or wrong way to come to terms with such a deep loss. My husband died in January and we would have celebrated our 31st anniversary yesterday, I chose to spend the day reflecting on and celebrating what a wonderful man, husband and father he was and our lovely life together. Don't lose insight on what your gran would have wanted for you. Tough times dont last. Tough people do. She would be proud of you. Loss is the hardest thing to deal with. Especially when it can put you in a tough spot emotionally. I dealt with my mom's loss at 17. Im 34, and it's still not easy to this day! Keep your head up high, and always remember she lives in your heart. That's what people who we have loss would want!

I am 77 yrs and I believe your grandmother in this moment would wrap her arms around you, kiss your cheeks and tell you everything is okay; Live your life and shine bright. My son died when he was 13 as a result of a bicycle accident. Yes, the heart breaks but eventually, it mends. You do what you need do in order to move forward down a positive path amplifying life's gifts (love, knowledge) that were bestowed by your grandmother. I was only 6 when my Granma died so I only remember vague memories of her and my Grandad died before I was born but I would have love to have met him as my mum adored him and named me after him. But we have to live the life we are given and make the most of life with those we share it with. My deepest sympathies with you Julia life will get easier and you have got Matt by your side to support you.

Ever since I have been watching your channel, it has been clear how much love there was between you and your Gran. She was front and centre for you and the joy you showed when cooking with her was always special. A cookbook is a wonderful way to celebrate your Gran. She will be forever in your heart. I know my Nana was my greatest supporter. She was an integral part of my life. when I was older she was the first person I would share my good news with. After my Nana passed, I often found myself dialling her number, then my heart sank when I remembered she was no longer here. Overtime, I found solace in believing she knew and was celebrating my joys because she was watching over me. You will find a way forward in time. Lean on those around you, especially Matt. My heart aches for you as you grieve for the person who shaped your life and gave you so much passion for food and cooking.

Oh no Julia! Sincere condolonses to you and your family. Your gran was a super lady. I loved when you two made vereneky together. It reminded me of when I went to visit my Baba and we cooked together, picked berries, vegetables and stayed up late watching tv. The tea that she used to make me was the best. So sorry to hear your sad news, I have seen so many of your videos of her and it was so apparent that she loved you so much. I remember so many of the videos of her cooking and you going to the market with her to buy ingredients. She was a tough lady, cooking on that range, shifting snow from her roof in the winter. My Gran probably was a great cook, she fed us for many years when my mother was busy on the family farm but my Mother was also a great cook and I learned so much from her as she encouraged me to cook from a very early age. My mother's eyes would light up if I gave her a magazine with some recipes in it, I also love recipes and can manage to cook most of the ones I find. As a man I wonder how many others are confident to cook interesting and unusual food as well as simple Sunday roasts. Julia I will be thinking of you and your Babushka, she had such wonderful grand children, thank you for showing us their lives.

The book is a lovely idea and I think it will help you. When I have lost someone in the past I wait until it is dark ( don't know why dark but maybe because it feels more private ) and I sit alone and talk to the loved one and tell them how I feel, what I think etc .. I think this helps me. Your pain will pass, you will always miss your Gran but you will end up thinking differently about the situation. Time doesn't necessarily heal , it kind of numbs. Take Care x

Oh my darling girl! My heart aches for you. Your closeness to Gran was palpable in your videos. I truly pray you will find comfort and solace in the knowledge that Gran is now where we all strive to be. If she had a choice - as much as she loves you - she wouldn't want to return. Gran's spirit is soaring - free of all worldly cares. I think that Gran knew, that in conquering Kilimanjaro - her precious 'little bird' Julia was now ready to fly solo.
