Thank you for your wonderful and loving video. Goathland holds a special place in my heart because we used it as our base for exploring the North York Moors. We flew from America to Manchester and then on to York by train. From York we hired a car and wandered. We based in a wonderful B&B in Goathland (Glendale House B&B). Goathland, and the train to Whitby and all points in between. What a charming and wonderful place. Thanks for the video.

Goathland is a beautiful scenic village, Simon and Beth. Love the stone buildings, walls, bridges, and lovely brook! We enjoyed seeing the train station and would love to stay at the hotel. Looks so peaceful. Steep climb but lovely views from topside! Hopefully Kathy won't get a hold of one of those husband remotes! Lovely tour. Thanks for bringing us along.

Yes Dave and Carhy the hotel would have been very peaceful indeed as less than 100 houses in the village. But it was helped by its popularity in the 1980 by filming a TV series called heart beat. I always wonder why is there very little home video footage of the village from the 1990s and even early 2000s during the time Heartbeat was in its heyday before it went crap?. A search on youtube comes up with hardly anything except footage of trains running through Grosmont and Pickering. Everything from the village seems to be only from within the last 10-15 years.

Seeing Goathland by first impression seems they have maintained the simple old ways. Such a nice village… I guess the name was originated from goats or also maybe sheeps where long time ago many goats there 😀😀

What the hell have they done to the front of the Goathland Hotel (Aidensfield Arms) with that stupid barrier and roped off section?. I'm guessing it's the usual "we don't like visitors sitting down at our pub without buiying a drink" excuse. Why can't they leave things as they were?. You think they were bloody Weatherspoons.

I used to visit Goathland many times in the mid-late 90s and early 2000s during the times when they weren't filming (you'd be lucky to catch them filming) and there was no barrier or roped off section in front of the pub just the seats and a few cars parked up. So they've added that very recently for some reason, and Heartbeat came to an end 12 years ago. God knows what's inside, probably big screen TV on the wall blasting out 24/7 BBC News propaganda with the sound muted, CCTV cameras in every corner snooping on everyone's conversation like every other pub you go in these days.
