Pretty crappy Noveltoon probably one of my least favorites(although a 35mm IB Tech print was sold on eBay last June)

Turkey: I do this sort of thing to him every Thanksgiving

To be nice on Thanksgiving Day to a cartoon that needs a little love, the 'Well Dressed Turkey' gag was borrowed and tweaked three years later by Chuck Jones and Michael Maltese for the Bugs Bunny cartoon "Forward March Hare" (and it actually works better here, with Arnold Stang's vocal reaction). So for all the other gags they borrowed from Warner Bros. and MGM cartoons of the 1940s for this short, at least they gave one gag back to their friends on the west coast....

The Farmer and the Turkey sound like Herman and Katnip,LOL
@sentaimaster1005 жыл бұрын
that's because the two VA's for said characters are voicing those two
@vividwatch475 жыл бұрын
They were voiced by Sid Raymond (Katnip) and Arnold Stang (Herman).

Yep, in this episode, Sid Raymond voices the Farmer and Arnold Stang voices the Turkey

Didn't that same farmer and turkey appear in a Casper short?

Richard Smith yes,It was Do or Diet which came three years after this cartoon
@SteveCarras5 жыл бұрын
@@McCraeTheMediaLover Didn't know that. Basically Herman and Katnip in respecially a turkey and farmer suit, since it's the same voices from the same actors (Arnold Stang and Syd Raymond in order)

@ParamountCartoons About the first half of Land Of The Lost Watches is reused animation. The difference between that animation and Germanetti-Muffatti's is striking as they seemed to do some of Famous's sloppiest animation. For that reason I'm assuming that that's why they did those two cartoons because they could probably get done much faster then everyone else. Notice, in this cartoon, how the character designs seem to change a bit. There are instances where the farmer has big or beady eyes.

Uncutcartoons247 It's like the Land of the Lost Jewels cartoon was a rip off of the original. MAKE MOAR VIDEOS. ❤

@ParamountCartoons I believe that this was Bill Tytla's last cartoon for Famous so maybe that has something to do with it(?)
@McCraeTheMediaLover6 жыл бұрын
Uncutcartoons247 at least he was ashamed of making this cartoon. At least this Cartoon didn’t kill his career here.

Yes it’s the same Turkey and Farmer from the Casper short Do or Diet(1953)

It's not particularly outstanding, but certainly not animated "sloppy" as has been stated. I challenge any amateurs viewing this, or any professionally produced cartoons to explain their observations and definitions of "sloppiness." We need to be clear of what you are observing to be sure you really know what you are talking about. It's one thing to sit and watch cartoons all day and another to actually have made them and know what one is looking at in order to offer qualified analysis..

Thanks for the upload. Strange cartoon. It seems that a lot of miscellaneous gags from other, better cartoons have been inserted willy-nilly into this one. For instance, there's no reason for Tex Avery's running-outside-of-the-film-frame gag to be here. That mad conceit suited the world of DUMB-HOUNDED and NORTHWEST HOUNDED POLICE, but not this short.
@SUPERCRAFTKS12 жыл бұрын
@deadlyshoesalesman I thought it was pretty good, not as funny as the Tex Avery stuff, but very good nevertheless. the writer Larz Bourne didn't do a bad job, but he didn't hold a candle to the madcap humour in Heck Allen's MGM cartoons
@McCraeTheMediaLover6 жыл бұрын
SUPERCRAFTKS it’s a shame that this was Disney/Terrytoons Alum Bill Tytla’s Last Cartoon he made at Paramount and he did worse by making this cartoon look a complete ripoff of Tex Avery’s Jerky Terky,right down to reusing the running out of the film reel gag from Avery’s Dumb Hounded,where Droopy made his debut. I think Tytla might been ashamed after he left after making this cartoon. And would’ve been a trainwreck to his career

Paramount plans to buy their cartoons back including Harvey Films and Turner Entertainment. Already acquired UM&M, NTA, and Kit Parker.
