The Vortex BOM Tutorial: Month ONE

It’s Month One of the @legitkits Block of the Month! This month, we make four blocks, and then assemble them into a mini quilt that will make up part of the full quilt. These are easy blocks, and I walk you through the whole process, including the tools and supplies you need, cutting out your fabric, and sewing it all together.
The Votrtex BOM is the easiest pattern they’ve ever made! If you’ve never done foundation paper piecing, or never even quilted, this is the perfect quilt for you! The quilt has just 382 pieces!

A note about starching: I am usually a firm believer in starching your fabrics before cutting, but this is a special quilt, broken down into months, and I didn’t feel it was as necessary in this case. I also wanted to keep the instructions simple and easy, and felt adding starching to the “to do” list would over-complicate things. Feel free to starch or not to starch!

I don’t on this one, because the blocks are so easy! So I really just cut the blocks out as I go.

Do you iron and starch your fabric first?

I do starch my fabric, yes! I like the feel of it starched, and it's just easier to cut and sew if it's starched.

In the beginning it would have helped if you explain how the pattern works and then correlates to the fabric. You're flying thru way to fast because you've done it before. I wouldnt call this a tutorial. Do you have a first time legit kit user video? Are you teaching their patterns or just how to paper piece? They recommend your videos
