I am surprised that some words like example /ɪɡˈzɑːmpl/ and extraordinary /ɪkˈstrɔːdnri/ start with the vowel /ɪ/. Unfortunately, I don’t percieve the vowel /ɪ/. Instead, I notice a sound more similar to /e/.

Thank you for your comments! There are some words in which it's... "flexible". :D Sometimes people pronounce the first "e" in those words like a /e/, especially if they're speaking very slowly and emphatically. And sometimes people pronounce them like a schwa (particularly Australians and Americans 😉). Hi is there different between/ ɪ/ and /i/
@EnglishwithMax
@EnglishwithMax 2 жыл бұрын
Good question! / ɪ/ is the sound in this video (like in "tin"). /i/ is the same as /i:/, but lots of American dictionaries don't use the ":". /i/ is also often used in British dictionaries if it's at the end of a word, like "easy" /ˈiːzi/. www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/definition/english/easy_1?q=easy

pas du tout facile : même si que la prononciation a l'air juste, avec l'oreille c'est tout autre de le différencier avec le i: .
