Thanks for watching! I’m of course not the first person to VR swap a MK6, however it seems like a lot of the people that have also done this swap are all gatekeeping. I hid so many dead ends talking to owners of these swaps trying to gather info. That’s not how I like to play, so oops it’s all online now 🤷‍♂️

Absolutly true, I also feel the same thing in my country Indonesia, especially for the Volkswagen community which is a bit passive here, and also I am doing a project to swap an R36 engine into my Golf MK4, I feel like I'm walking alone, because you know man it is very difficult to get information about doing projects that are not very common, but the project must continue,

This is amazing. Your are right, i was lookijg into doing this swap into my mk7. Seems that asking people that have completed this swap just leave me on read. Dont understand the gatekeeping? Once i get closer to sourcing out the motor I might reach out to pick your brain. Shouldnt be too far off the mk6. Going to binge the series now on my day off. Ha!

You’ll need an atlas 3.6 and ECU. It’s the only MQB 3.6

Appreciate documenting this! People talk about it in forums but only share so much on what’s needed to make it happen. I’ve yet to see someone document a swap into a manual mk6 as well. Usually a DSG with the vr6 from the CC

Why you didn't check the crankshaft bearing and pistons? What if start burning oil in a short time and you have to take everything apart again? For that huge project, it will be safer to rebuild the whole engine

Off camera I did. I didn’t find anything so I left that footage out in an attempt to keep things “short” (yes I know they’re still lengthy videos). I filmed and edited all these myself with the exception of 3 days out of 8 months, so 1) it’s hard to decide what stays and what goes, and 2) sometimes I just didn’t film and would put my head down and WORK. This isn’t ever going to be a high HP build so I didn’t find it necessary to do pistons and rods especially since they looked great.

Great video I was thinking of doing this to my mk6. But I was thinking about putting in the Atlas V6 is it a different in horse power between the older v6 and newer ones 🤔

All the 3.6s are 99% the same. It’s just the engine management that’s different. The atlas ECU won’t work in a mk6 though.

I used the stock Passat ECU from the donor car, and I rewired the GTI harness to work with the engine.
