Yeah it would be cool for Batman to fight Godzilla in a mech for a modern take on this story but back in the 60's that's very doubtful Because no one thought about live action mech vs monster in Japan not until the 70's japanese spiderman series and then a little later Super Sentai which it the USA in the 90's would change super sentai into power rangers, the only thing that was close to anything like that at the time was Ultraman so I'd imagined they would've just made an "UltraBatman" type suit for Batman to fight Godzilla in the movie if it was made back then.

I've always found it fascinating how similar Godzilla and Batman are, with both being long running franchises established with darker roots, but have since gone back and forth between campy and serious. However, Batman is taken more seriously now more than ever-- far more than Godzilla. It's something I wish Godzilla would be treated just a bit more as. I mean, if a man dressed as a bat who fights crime can be taken seriously, why can't (a man dressed as) a giant radioactive sea monster who lays waste to civilization not be? Alas, I guess we can't have the best of both worlds.

I think that I would've liked to have seen it done with the seriousness of a classic Godzilla film and also with the humorous antics from the Batman series as well. But instead of sending Godzilla off into space, Godzilla would just return back into the sea after the bad guys have been dealt with... And I would still keep the part about how Godzilla was infatuated with Batgirl. That just shows you that Godzilla has good taste in women 👍

Excellently edited video and I'm glad you saved the alternate Toho version of the same concept towards the end because a lot of other KZbinrs ignore that fact or assume both attempts are one and the same. I still think a Godzilla vs Batman '66 could still be done as a direct-to-video animated feature, maybe throw in some the of obscure Batman kaiju as well like the aforementioned Rainbow Creature or the Neosaurus.

For me, I was thinking of having Batman as a Japanese superhero in a dark anime series. The story is something similar in the animated series for being dark and mysterious, Batman of Shanghai and the Batman for the action, and Batman Beyond for having stronger villains and having the Dark Knight possessing technology that's decades ahead. So, in this world, not only does he fights stronger versions of his villains. He also fights giant monsters that can handle the Justice League's strongest heroes, using transforming mechs that can fight gods.

Between this and that original script for a Dazzler and Avengers adaption that was to have Kiss battling the Village People, Hollywood had some pretty insane concepts for movie adaptions for a while. Toho needs to lighten up a bit about crossovers (I'm stoked about the Shin Japan Hero Universe announcement); doing a one-off Batman vs Godzilla as an animated film produced by them & DC's animated film division would probs get a lot of ppl's curiosity. DC's been cranking out solid animated films for years including before Marvel simps waged their bully crusades against them. As a huge DC & G-fan, I'm biased, but Batman vs Godzilla would have to be one hell of a good time.

Ishiro Honda did not much care for Godzilla becoming campy (considering how Godzilla came to be back in 1954 and the references to the Castle Bravo H-bomb explosion where there was a confusion about Lithium-7 and so forth - too big a bang basically - and folks on a fishing boat getting exposed to fallout and so forth - one confirmed death due to radiation) ...but once this thing of Godzilla being kind of a nice guy came to pass for a while, then personally yeah, I woud've found it absolutely wonderful to have seen a movie like this with the campy Batman era stuff along with it. I have only recently come upon your channel, and I do not often comment - and hey, what with nuclear statesmanship possibly being utterly unstable with the thing going on with Russia right now - maybe this is the best time to at least bother to talk. King Kong vs. Godzilla does have a direct connection to Gigantis the Fire Monster. Godzilla is buried in ice in Gigantis and breaks out of an iceberg in KKvG.

Honestly, I would be for a mixture. Probably 80-90% serious and 10-20% campy. I like both, but I am a bigger fan of the more serious Godzilla films than the campy one.

I think that this comedy era for both characters would have been the perfect and perhaps only meeting grounds. It’s hard to see them meeting in this day because of the more edgy and dark paths the franchises took, but if the movie was made then it would be likely that they would meet again in said dark and edgy reboot eras, and that would be truly epic and time lasting.

The only way I could see a series Batman getting involved against Godzilla would be helping the scientists developing the superweapon needed to stop Godzilla. The Revenge of Shinobi in 1989 a Early Sega Megadrive/Sega Genesis game the early Japanese versions have Batman and Godzilla as Stage bosses. Sega had no permision to use either so later sold version changes the Batman sprite who is the second stage of the boss fight the first is Spiderman (which sega owned the rights to at the time still odd using him as bad guy though) then mutates into batman or to look like Devilman (another character not created by sega) and Godzilla changed into a skeleton with internal organs. But The game After it Shinobi 3 has a Boss clealy based on Sega own design of Mecha Godzilla this has never been changed though. King Kong could Appear in a Batman thing these days though Ironicly.
