@osman_mamedov
@osman_mamedov Жыл бұрын
It wasn't close to overthrowing power. Wagner walked unhindered. Even if the fighting had begun in Moscow, it would have lasted about a week or a maximum of two weeks not in favour of Prigozhin. They don't have much equipment compared to the Ministry of Defence. Another question is what would happen to the capital itself and how things would be at the front?
@FakeAssHandsomeMcGee_
@FakeAssHandsomeMcGee_ Жыл бұрын
@@osman_mamedov Unhindered? The border guards let them through and hugged the Wagner troops even after the FSB began investigating Prigozhin. Putin asked the military and people not to side with Wagner. I read some Russian soldiers and security services sided with Wagner. Wagner troops had some skirmishes with the ones who were loyal to Moscow and shot down around 7 aircraft. Some coups have self-fulfilling prophecy effects. If people think the coup plotters are going to win, they switch sides and support the coup. Even civilians were taking pictures with the Wagner personnel. It was a real possibility that Prigozhin could have removed Putin without fighting the Russian regulars. And the Kremlin is probably aware seeing how they just pardoned everyone even when Putin vowed to punish the coup plotters and those that assisted them.

As from my understanding of what has happened, I have 3 possible options: 1 - Either Prigozhin truly didn’t wanted to risk the lives of his own men and the lives of innocent Russian citizens and made a good deal with the Kremlin that favors what he wants for the war and for his men? 2 - Prigozhin and the Wagner Group are being mislead to turn to Belarus, where Putin will order Prigozhin’s execution and that the Wagner Group will be secretly being ‘taken care off’ by the Belarusian dictator Lukashenko? 3 - Prigozhin pretends to take Putin and Lukashenko’s ‘fair deal’ and plans something far bigger for what he has in store for Russia, meaning his ‘failed coup’ was only a diversion?

I had an exam that morning at 9:00, everybody was kinda confused (hyped?). Almost nobody slept that night and watched the news. I saw people in metro watching Prigojin, and talking about it. Remember joking that it took more time for me to get to the train than for wagner to capture Rostov. I counted hours before they'll arrive at moscow and thought what will i do, incase i had to interract with them. Later it felt like a fever dream

Oh, I don’t really know myself. They definitely were in the city center. But other parts of Rostov were living there own life. There was a little bit of panic. Some people started buying everything like in covid times. But in general we were more surprised than scared. Wangner entered Rostov peacefully and left in as peacefully about 20 hours later. And all we, regular citizens, could say in the end was “What was that?”
