The Wailers - Tears (Don’t Have To Fall) …1966
No this is not Bob Marley’s band of Wailers. This band of Wailers was from Tacoma, Washington, and during the 1960s they were considered one of the best bands to emerge from the Pacific Northwest. The song featured in this video, “Tears (Don’t have To Fall” is a slow ballad that showcases the bands vocals. ….The Wailers initially performed saxophone-driven rock and Chuck Berry style rock 'n' roll. In 1959, while they were still in high school, when the band was signed to Golden Crest records. Their third single for Golden Crest, "Tall Cool One”, peaked the national charts at #36 in 1959…. Over the years the band changed with the times and by the mid 1960s the group had evolved into an excellent rock band. …The group was active from 1958-1969 releasing around 10 Lps and many 45s. During their heyday, they appeared on such television shows as the Alan Freed Show and Dick Clark’s American Bandstand. The band split up in 1969, by which time Kent Morrill was the only remaining original member. If you have any info about this band of Wailers and would like to share, please feel free to do so. …Info source: discogs, Wikipedia, North West Music Archives the Wailers, 45cat

Nice. Has the moody atmospheric feel of a Pearls Before Swine song (I hear something that almost sounds like a harpsichord), but with clear melodious vocals + harmonies. Tom Rapp was a brilliant songwriter + his voice really conveyed melancholy but it wasn't everyone's cuppa.

@@recordcave Thanks Dale, I was just making an "Emotive Tunes" playlist with Terry Reid, Nick Drake, Chessmann Square and others and so the Wailers went on this playlist. 🙂

Yes, Thomas, 'it's ( not ) you alone' who needs a tissue. 'Teardrops must fall' -Mink DeVille '81-. The Wailers from Tacoma are the emotional counterpart to The Sonics from Tacoma. Really a good band. Later in '67 they covered 'Hang On Sloopy' ( The McCoys ) in a slower version. Their 'Roadrunner' from '59 is also great. Really an interesting band and a good upload from Dale. Greetings, Bernd

@@berndjenter4005 A tearjerker it is. One could cry a river. The Pacific Northwest was a fruitful region for garage bands. From Seattle to San Diego, the entire West Coast rocked. Well, so did the East Coast from Maine to Florida. The US was alive with garage bands from sea to shining sea. Cheers, Bernd

@@berndjenter4005 His 1991 album, Whenever We Wanted was the first album with his real name on the cover, John Mellencamp. The"cougar" was dropped. Talking about the Pacific Northwest, check out Crome Syrcus - "Lord In Black" 1968 They were from Seattle, WA. It has an early 70s hard rock sound. It's tough.
