That’s one thing I’ll give to the spin offs so far. It’s very reminiscent of the very first season. Short episode wise, but such a richer and more riveting story over the stretched out fluff later seasons.

I do hope we get some minor flash backs to his initial introduction (waking up in the hospital again) and first 2 escape attempts at some point. Honestly him waking up in the CRM hospital would have been an awesome intro, full circle introduction to this series.

Wanted to put my thoughts here before I watch the reaction. I watched the episode last night. Kept my expectations low so I’d be prepared to be blown out of the water. It was so amazing to see Rick back on our screens. The ambience of the episode was interesting. Gave a clear insight into what the world looked like where Rick had ended up. Dark, gritty, unfamiliar. Obviously this is a Rick we’ve not seen before. Surviving without his family and friends around him. But holding onto that little bit of hope that he can make it back. I loved some of the call backs and/or juxtaposition to S1E1 of TWD. Rick telling Okafor "wake up" in the same tone from 9x5 Rick becoming real life "helicopter boy" FLYING the helicopter not just seeing one in a series opener. Rick still "looking for his family" or to get back to it at least and runs into a little girl. Granted this time alive but it sparked my memory for sure. Even the nod to Morgan with Okafor giving Thorne and Rick "The Art of Peace" All in all couldn't wait for your reaction specifically brother. You always offer such great insight and beyond!! 🫶🏼

Despite knowing very little about the CRM, Okafor is a good representation that not everyone is bad or as all in as they claim to be since they got their own agenda. Some are just trying to survive, or stay on good terms. There’s even riots happening in one of the shots that’s questioning stuff about their military. As for the bottle that Rick threw, Okafor was the one who found it and knew about Judith and Michonne.

Interesting idea re Althea being the journalist. I mean, we all hope her and Isabelle are off somewhere else and happy, but Al infiltrating the CR would be a nice plot piece. Ties in Fear, with or without Morgan appearing.

Loved Ricks "wake up" to Okafor, sounded exactly like his to himself in 9x5. Of course the callback to "The Art of Peace" was awesome and spoke to the kind of man I think Okafor was or at least wanted to be. And of course helicopter boy becoming a whole helicopter pilot was just a great juxtaposition. Really love your sewer/grenade recall!! Can't wait to see what else we get/where we go from here. Twd did a really great job in S11 with callbacks/easter eggs so I expect this series could do the same just as well 😊

1.They said they will show Rick first arriving to the CR in a latter episode. 2.Thorne wasn’t in the helicopter. 3.What kills me about dead city is that Maggie and Negan BOTH somehow do not run into the CR on their way to New York. They go overland to go north to New York, they didn’t take a boat, and the CR extends to the Atlantic Ocean In Philadelphia and expands half way through PA with the outposts that surround the city. I do like that you mentioned harvesting walkers for fuel being a comparison to what they are doing in dead city though. I don’t think they are in league with the groups in dead city because they all seem to dysfunctional and psychotic like the crowad or how ever you spell his name to work with them. What I’m wondering about more is when Okafor mentioned that if Rick went back to his family (which is now between Alexandria and common wealth) Okafor would of had to kill anyone he came across just for the sake of operational security. As far as well know, it has been hinted that common wealth trades A’s and B’s to the CRM or as they refer to them in common wealth (designation two) when they were sending Connie away. She is Definitely A material. Also we saw the train of common wealth loaded up with new motor cycles and new Jeeps with mounted hardware attached, which maybe explains where the common wealth got such high end equipment, because unlike the CR that has manufacturing capabilities. The common wealth doesn’t have such means. Yea they have ALOT, but we never see common wealth manufacture. Just some thoughts.

Well considering Dead City is about 4-6 years after the end of the main show(given Hershel’s age), it’s absolutely possible they could’ve had a run in with CRM & even witnessed Rick & Michonne return home but they chose to leave instead. Interested to see how they’ll incorporate Croat, his gal pal, and also yeah I was hoping Lance would be our CRM tie with commonwealth based on his comments to Pamela about “certain stabilizing factors”
