@CurryKitten It’s for looking at the feed from another set of goggles. If the main goggles are broadcasting, they’ll show up as an available feed in the secondary goggles share menu. They only released the firmware activating this feature a day or two after you uploaded your video.

Factually speaking with my long distance friendship set far aside, (Yes, I am very capable of putting my personal bias away) In all seriousness this was undoubtedly the best detailed review of any goggle and it's VTX I have ever seen! Brilliant! I believe the fact that you did not simply drop their digital VTX into a wing aircraft or quad was greatly in your favor as well as an excellent beneficial credit to WalkSnail to cooperate with you in asking you to conduct a review of their product. All past reviews I've seen to date truly doesn't show such patients of detail you were able to demonstrate in this post. Hopefully WaklSnail will see that its in their benefit to first approach you on all their future product productions without delay and actually Link your KZbin Post's to their website! Otherwise fiscally speaking, it truly is WalkSnail's loss. Very Good.

I have 8 quads and 2 planes on WalkSnail. The HD Pro is outstanding. Just installed 2 of the new VTXs this week. Two sets of goggles, one set-up for long range the other for close in flying. Hard to decide some days what to fly, DJI, HD Zero or WalkSnail. Nice to see your entry to this.

Must be cool to have all 3 of the digital systems for a good way to compare everything. I wonder if the prices could ever come down to what analog is now.... which is pretty much the only way I'd get that many models converted over :)

Great review, and thanks again for all the work that you put into your videos. For this you deserved a much better deal than just the 30% discount. I have thought about getting into HD FPV gear, but I am so much invested in the analog stuff, and Caddx Ratel → Rush VTX → Eachine EV300D works pretty well so hesitate to shell out the not small chunk of change to step up. I would guess a lot of guys are in similar situation.

Yes - I think that's a concern of many. If you've been flying for a few years you've already accumulated a lot of gear and analog still works well. There's also a surprising number of people who seem to buy everything and have all the digital systems already. I guess the hop is that it becomes cheap(er) enough so it's less of a significant upgrade... we can but hope anyway

First off, thanks for posting an english version... saves me trying to use google translate :)Yes I would say that the ReconHD goggles look better than adding the VRX onto your Cobra X's. Fat Shark got bought out by Red Cat (who also own Rotor Riot) but I don't think this is going to cause anything bad to happen. The FatShark and WalkSnail goggles are essentially the same thing, so I wouldn't expect to see any lack of firmware enhancements to the WalkSnail based Fatshark gear. I'd love to do some stuff on the WalkSnail VRX, but I just get a 30% discount from Caddx, not much for free, so I'll just have to carry on making videos with the stuff I have for now.

I'm hoping one day the digital stuff will be as cheap as analog is now. When I first started, the one choice of the IRC 600 VTX with 8 channels that you changed with dip switches were 3 times as much as the VTX's today which have 48+ channels, multiple power ranges and smart audio. We can but hope at least

What clickbait, where's the hotness from the thumbnail?! (I kid, I'm so glad you posted this today actually!) I've been enamored with my analog Skyzones for a long time, while my Fatshark/Rapidfire goggles have been shelved for eons. I'm not made of money, (and my other hobbies are also more expensive every day!), so jumping into HD has been on my list of things to do after some hefty research. And then some more. I was going to pull the trigger on HDZero, but glad your down-to-Earth review of the competition is there, to at least delay my going into further debt, lol

I'm in the same boat. I certainly can't afford to just buy all the digital systems, so I hung back and waited for a while. I think I've chosen the right one... for me at least. But I'm yet to fly them. Soon, another video to get out of the way first and I can jump in with both feet :)

If you’re looking for video clarity, HDZero isn’t the way to go. I dabbled with it last year for fixed wing flying and was not impressed with the quality; it looks like upscaled 480p. I could see why quad racers/freestylers would like it for it’s fixed low latency though.

I was just flying a little 2S today with the HD Mini Lite VTX :) But yeah I get it - with each HD system saying that you need to use their goggles, it's not something that you can just have them all (unless you are stinking rich and don't mind carrying lots of pairs of goggles around with you.... or perhaps have your butler do the carrying :D )

Hi Wayne Thanks for a great review.Can you perhaps tell me why it is that I don't get an image in OBS video capture software if I plug the HDMI from the Walksnail VRx into a video capture card. Works fine with the input from an Nvidia Sheild tablet....?

I was getting the same sort of issues. Using a decent USB-C to HDMI lead, I couldn't get anything in my Elgato, but going through a weird little USB-C to USB dock thing I could sometimes. I've heard mention from others of the HDMI output being flakey. Apparantly it used to be fune, and seems to have degraded in later firmwares?

Quick question once you unlock the goggle does every vtx you pair then work in fcc and full power?

Yes. The process only needs to be done for the goggles. I’ve got three VTXs and they all start up ready for 1200mw when armed.

As @wattage2007 says - yes, you only need to do it for the goggles. One thing I am interested to know though (and I'll obviously be testing) is what happens when the VTX doesn't go that high. The little Bassline quad I have has in it (I think) the "Mini 1S lite kit" which goes up to 350mw. I'm hoping there's some 2 way communication so the goggles know the capability of the VTX, but we'll see when I get there.

I wear glasses as well, was wondering if I would be able to see with these. A friend of mine let my try on his HDzeros and I was able to see clear as day without my glasses

The built in diopters mean, that if your prescription is in the range of +2 to -6 then you should be able to use them without glasses. As I mentioned, if you have anything else going on in your prescription like an astigmatism then it won't correct this, but neither will the HDZero goggles. HDZero does have a wider diopter of +6 to -6 though, so more range for long sighted people

Good question - and I don't know if it's possible as you bind the goggles to the VTX. HDMI out from one into HDMI in the other (if you've got the GogglesX) is one way, or a screen if you haven't

I can't focus the screen properly, because the screen is too close to my eyes. Need thicker padding / faceplate before use. Otherwise first Impression is okay

Interesting, as the screens generally act as if they are in the distance. I'm shortsighted, but I can't see them without putting the diopters all the way over. Are you long sighted? I was speaking to someone who is doing lenses for the DJI goggles and VR stuff, but isn't (currently) doing Walksnail

No 3d movies... or even any movies unless they do something very different as currently you can only go HDMI out from the USB-C, but not in. It seemed like everyone went crazy for the name... or something like it. Not only are the Walksnail Avatar goggles the same as the FatShark Avatar googles, but even DJI wanted in but dropped the 'r' and went with their Avata drone.
