Serves as an example for all kinds of groups of people, not just casts from shows. But, it has to start in a good place, be nourished with good deeds, truth and trust. A huge problem today is disconnect and selfishness instead of putting on someone else's shoes and walking around in them a bit.

That was a good scene. However, my favorite is from The Chicken Thief, when Ben, after moping around because he feels that a magazine contest win isn't truly his, finally discusses his thoughts with John Boy. John Boy of course is proud of him, but quickly realizes Ben's distress is real, so he dissects the whole enchilada, putting Ben at ease and they grow closer to one another because of it. Fabulous stuff.

This conversation is just tremendous! I appreciate Eric's honesty about his torn feelings when Richard Thomas left. Could Richard Thomas be any more dear ~ celebrating Eric's 16th birthday with lunch, a gift, and book browsing! I think viewers too were really disappointed when RT left ~ we just really liked JB so much I always felt badly for Robert Wightman trying to follow a definitive performance! Nevertheless, all things considered, I think Robert handled the role well and endeared himself to his Walton family and us fans. Eric, you hit the nail on the head ~ you all created something very special and have each other's friendship of 50 years and continuing!! What a gift!! For this fan Judy's video series just confirms my genuine adoration of The Walton's. You all are very special people indeed! So good to hear Eric/Ben thriving ~ buying out the company you worked for does indeed sound very like a "Ben" move! I love the story of Eric and Joe taking their show on the road! Spectacular. Boy! Whoever that writer/producer was who ignored Eric's pointing out the script's missing characters sure didn't think much of us fans!! Just about anyone in these comments from week to week can probably recite from memory dialogue from any given episode or tell you what clothes people were wearing, which animals were in a scene, or any variety of details. First rule of theater, music performance, writing ~ never underestimate the audience!! It's fair to say you actors gave the audience your absolute very best every episode, every scene, every moment! So very rare that cast mates (and some crew members) remain as a tightly knit a group as the Walton's has remained over the last 5 decades. I suspect overblown egos and substance issues may be partly to blame today but humility and genuine respect for each other goes a long way to unification. Clearly the Walton's cast had this in spades for each other. I love seeing it on display as discussed here. That this cast has remained tight speaks to your own character and it is remarkably refreshing to witness. Thank you for sharing with us along with each other. Mr. Scott conveys such humility during his transition out of performing. I was thrilled to learn he became so close with Mr. Conley right up until his passing. Eric is correct on 2 things #1 that loyal fans would wonder about the missing kids but also where did Mary Ellen get more kids when she wasn't supposed to have anymore following the car accident after her and Jonesy got married. #2 there is no originality left in Hollywood everything is either a remake or let's make this book or comic into a movie. I didn't think he had to act for Ben to be smitten with his new bride Cindy! LOL. And what a treat Richard Thomas gave him for his 16th Birthday- Musso and Frank has been an iconic Hollywood restaurant since 1919 ! Yes, I can understand why he felt devastated losing his 'big brother' when Mr. Thomas decided to quit being a regular to pursue other venues but at least he understood why Mr. Thomas had to do it! Too bad the writers didn't listen to Mr. Scott about not dropping Walton grandkids. Thanks for this!

What an impressive post-Walton success story where Eric basically started over and reinvented himself with a whole new career. An ego-driven actor would not have been able to make that delivery to Lorimar and that one decision was the difference between a lifetime of happiness versus a lifetime of misery. Eric is a winner and I have to believe his family, both on and off the set, had a lot to do with that. Now, if only we could share our record collections as I was heavily into buying music also. I'm jealous at the promos or discounts he might have had with the Warner label. Although I worked at a record store at the time and enjoyed my fair share of promos as well.

It is nice to learn they remain friends after all these decades. Does Eric think he may return to acting, picking up a guest spot here and there, once he retires? I don't know how SAG works - does he still retain membership, or would a return for a periodic side gig in his retirement years mean re-upping his membership?

I know you’ve gotten together for the Walton reunions, but have you guys ever had a reunion where it’s just you guys at someone’s house enjoying one another’s company without being filmed? Like a family/old friends reunion. I really admire Eric for taking the good out of his work in the Industry and making a beautiful life and family, smart man. Thanks again Judy , do you think David would ever be interested in being on you channel? I’m a very private person also, so if not the understanding is already understood. I do hope he’s had a blessed life and thank him for his contribution to the show. Thanks to all of the Walton’s cast and crew. As for some of the producers, I’ve listened to them through interviews and always thought a couple needed to learn how to treat people and not to talk harshly about kids growing up and how they look all grown up, one impartial I thought was cruel. As for their professionals there was none, which probably how Ben lost Charlie. They didn’t care about the accuracy of the Walton’s or it’s fans base, they only care about the cash that would be place in their pockets after the show aired, not cool. And I applaud anyone that had to deal with people such as those producers. So to not leave this comment on a bad note, I love the show the Walton’s. It’s something I can share with my grandchildren and not have to worry about content. The Walton’s is a gift that keeps on giving and I thank God that I have something to look back at and know this was a show my family would watch together. Than you again Judy.💕

As in every field there are genuinely good caring people - as Earl Hamner was, and there are not so nice people who don’t treat others with respect. Overall we were lucky to have more of the good ones.

I am at 78 a loyal Walton fan. Just watching the Awakening and think it it one of my favorites. Just loved when John Boy gave Mary Ellen the yellow roses and said that sometimes a man just has to give flowers to a woman.😊

Such a sweet thing for John Boy to do for Mary Ellen after the disappointment she experienced.

Good Morning Mary Ellen and Ben!! Judy you are always so wonderful to your fans and we are so blessed to be able to see you every week. It is sad that producers did not realize the amazing professionals that you are knowing that many fans would want to know where your children are how crazy is that! Eric how sweet that you have two Cindy's I love that. I will always hope that somehow you all could get together for another reunion. Have a wonderful weekend and thanks to both of you!! Kathy 🥰

Thank you for having this interview, Judy. I always liked the character of Ben. His character had a kind heart. As evidenced when Verdie’s money from the cake sale was stolen and he replaced it with money he earned. I also like his business sense. And, how he stood up for others. Like when Erin failed in Real Estate. And he said “What about Cora Beth?” “It is her business you know.” So glad Eric is doing well these days. ♥️

I agree - Ben marched to his own drum and developed good business sense.

Eric, you are an inspiration and still a handsome young man. Working on the show was a blessing to my career and my life. I was the first PA Lorimar hired in 1972...lucky me to have been a part of (still am) the Walton family.

The missing children in the moves are proof of producers and writers not caring about the show , and are just doing a job. The same goes for all of the endless remakes. Great video and great seeing Eric. Thanks Judy

Thank you again for sharing yourself and your family/friends with us. I always liked Ben/Eric on the series. He was down-to-earth and a good soul. It is so nice to see Eric has a fulfilled and fulfilling life and has retained the warmth and general goodness that I always felt from him. Again this conversation FLEW by. So good to see you enjoying your time together. I hope he will drop by again. Thank you for sharing Eric with us, as well as Mary, Jon, and Kami. You make it look so easy to put this show together, but I know you have to do lots of work behind the scenes. I appreciate your hard work. Judy, you ROCK!

As I am watching Judy talking with the cast family about filming and behind the scenes stories. I am so happy to find that everyone turned out to be 'normal', well-adjusted human beings in later life. No Hollyweird! Thanks Judy, for putting these videos together for us!

There is definitely a sense of melancholy in Eric's words. As he speaks about Richard Thomas leaving the series, then trying to be an actor after "The Waltons" ended and starting a new career, he certainly had an uphill battle. Adding in the loss of his wife not long after their daughter was born, Eric has certainly come through a lot. These conversations help us fans realize the connections the cast have today, and how they are still "real people." Thank you for opening the door and allowing us to learn more about Eric. Now... will we ever see David Harper join in a video interview? I know he's more reserved than others, but he certainly has a number of fans out there that would love to hear from him!

Thanks, Judy. Eric is so handsome. Actually, from what I have seen this far in what you are doing, all of you have thrived since the show. You all seem like such down to earth people. I recall I loved every episode I ever saw and each of the reunions I saw. I need to find out how to get the episodes I do not have on disc as well as the reunion episodes.

You Walton kids are so loved by your fans. There was indeed something special that happened with The Waltons show. Your characters and their stories seem to be woven in to the fabric of our lives in such a beautiful way. I got to meet you guys in 2019 at the opening of John and Olivia’s Bed and Breakfast. You were all so wonderful and kind to everyone. Listening to you all talk about your own memories (or lack thereof) of the show was eye opening for me. We had dinner with Kami. Her questions for us (the fans) were so interesting. Definitely gave me a new perspective. Anyway, so thankful to find that you were all genuinely wonderful people. I love each of you even more than before.

I grew up watching The Waltons every Thursday night in the 70's. I considered the Walton children my brothers and sisters. Other shows once they end everyone goes their separate ways and rarely hear from others in the series. But all of you remained close after the series ended, even 40 years later. I was wondering do any of you ever hear from Richard Thomas aka John Boy? What about Jim Bob or David W Harper? What is David doing now? I see Richard on different series' episodes and movies.

I think this probably one of your best interviews .. So many child actors go down the wrong road.. Using drugs as a escape. Not wanting to deal with the fact that their acting career is over. But Eric moved on. And realized there is life beyond Hollywood.. So bravo to him.. And to all of you..
