While we are busy focusing on her in the boss fight in Shadowlands the old gods could seep through the cracks back into Azeroth, N'Zoth sees all outcomes, he SAW his defeat was possible and planned for all outcomes meaning he HAS a plan for his defeat

@@beastadin4474 And we´re going to disregard the fact that Arthas did, in fact, feel terrible about doing what he did? He still did it because he KNEW that even though all the people of Stratholme were innocents at the time, they would eventually all transform into the Undead, and that was the quickest way to secure the safety of the people of Lordaeron. The mistake was not purging Stratholme. The mistake was letting vengeance overtake him. Even after what he did, he could have still redeemed himself or at the very least done something to set his mind straight. He didn't do it. It was no longer about protecting his people when he left for Northrend; it was about revenge. But, ultimately, he still did what he thought was right for a good cause. Sylvanas is not doing this for a good cause. It's similar in the fact that she sees that war is the only option; peace though submission. But her motives go beyond "securing the future of the Horde"; it's her own, personal agenda that we still know not the entirety of. Comparing them right now is as foolish as it always has been. The only proper way to do so will be when her story comes to an end and we can analyze both from start to finish.

Just be prepared, because his videos range from about 20 minutes long, to 1.5 hours. Sometimes he will split long stories into parts, which does make them more manageable. He does the best Warcraft lore videos, in my opinion. It would be a painless way for you to get really caught up with Warcraft. :)

Ok so some things you need to know about Sylvanas. Sylvanas was a high elf (blue eyes, fair skin elf) ranger, general ranger in fact, which means she was one of the highest ranking members in her society's military. She lost both of her younger brother in two different wars, she had 2 younger brothers, and still has an older sister (Alleria) and a younger sister (Vereesa). When Warcraft 3 happened a mad man, called Arthas, that controlled the undead ravaged her homeland with the hopes of resurecting a very evil necromancer (kel'thusad) she was killed due to a traitor within the city. She put such a hard fight that Arthas trying to take vengance resurected her soul under her comand and turned her into a banshee, and kept her corpse in a magic container to further torture her. Eventually she broke out of his controlled regained her body and almost killed Arthas, untill he was saved by the now resurected kel'thusad. She joined forces with all the people that were resurected as undead that broke out of Arthas's controll and formed the forsaken. Later on she joins the horde in an attempt to make some allies to help her people survive since they only have each other now that all the living turned their back against them. Years later Arthas awoke and the heros of the world brought him down when she went up the citadel and found him dead, she didn't feel anything, she felt all sense of purpose disapear and so she jump of the massive building killing herself (second death). When she died she wasn't in the good and calm afterlife she deserved but a place of torture and pain. After her death a very powerful Valkire offered her a deal, they would trrade places and Sylvanas would be resurected but she had to give the Valkires a purpose and so she accepted. The Valkires are able to resurect people as undead and Sylvanas saw that her people could posibly never die out. A couple of years later she resucitated a very powerful human in her conquest but the man ended up betraying her and shooting her in the back resulting in her dying again (third death). Now Three not so powerful Valkires had to take place in hell for her to revive. So now that she is the leader of the Horde she is not coing to allow anyone that is against them to take away her means of staying alive and not having to suffer the tormet of eternal torture, and a way to still guide the forsaken and not leave them alone again. The tree is the closest Alliance capital to the Horde's mayor capital. It's name is Teldrassil. It is home to the night elves (dark skinned, blueish green hair and taller elves). Sylvanas is now waging mayor war againt the Alliance. She is doing the most despicable things saying it is war and war needs to be won by any means necessary which contrasts with the Horde's mayor focus on Honor before anything. The tree was a huge place, It is a gigantic home. Almost all night elven society is inside the tree, 3 towns and a mayor capital, 2 lakes, rives and wildlife. There were children, women, men, and a whole society built upon Teldrassil and Sylvanas is willing to destroy all of it, destroy honor, and destroy trust to win this war. I love Sylvnas a character I loved her in Warcraft 3 and early WoW until Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm was weird and then she became a bitch all the way until Battle for Azeroth when I raly put thought on what she realy wants. She is scared, she feels cornered, she has nothing, her only true family hates her, Alleria direcly tells her that she should have killed her when she had the chance and Vereesa lost her husband and father to her twin sons because of the Horde. The only thing left for her is the forsaken as she is to them, and she is trying to ensure their survival even if that does not sit well with the Horde.

So just a bit of background here- Sylvanas is an undead high elf and the dying elf (her name is Delaryn) is a night elf. Night elves are members of the alliance and they lived in that tree. High elves are a race descended from highborne night elves that were banished from the lands around 10,000 years ago because their leader caused a whole lot of trouble (this will probably be explained to you when you watch Warbringers: Azshara). Before the alliance first came into contact with the night elves, they worked with the high elves. The flashback to the war that we see in this short is between the high elves and the undead Scourge lead by the Lich King - he is the one that kills Sylvanas and turns her into a banshee and basically mind controls her while she is still aware of what she is doing. During this war like 90% of the high elf population was killed and they renamed themselves the blood elves in honour of their fallen. They left the alliance after this as they never received any help (I think anyway, my lore is a little fuzzy here) and they are currently members of the horde. After a while Sylvanas and some others managed to break free from the Lich Kings control and she became the leader of the forsaken (undead humans).

Sylvanas has been a centerpiece in the latest WoW expansion. Her voice actress is Patty Mattson. Her character goes all the way back to Warcraft III...honestly, your questions about her have a humongous backstory...but the long and short of it is, she attempted to defend her beloved homeland and people from an instrument of the Burning Legion, which is been a consistent antagonist force in the Warcraft Universe. I hope her story ends in redemption, but that may not turn out...

Don't know if you know. But at the tip of that tree was a city filled with thousands of innocent civilians. Sylvanas burning the tree, burned all of those civilians alive. There is a quest in the game to save as many as possible. When I did it , I was only able to save at most 102 civilians before my character passed out from smoke inhalation. I only saved 102 out of THOUSANDS. It hit more because those civilians were the same race as my character. #ForTheAlliance

Well about the baby, That was the undead invasion of Quel thalas, the high elven kingdom was invade by Arthas for biggest source of magic in city's heart. More than 90% of elves died on this day, and half of beautiful Quel thalas turned into cursed ghostland. Warcraft is full of sad and beautiful stories, even after this events elves still endures.

As always a good video. Sylvannas is probably my favorite hero of warcraft (the RTS, not MMO), and storywise even some of the undead aren't necessarily the bad guys. You asked why Sylvanas acts that way(no spoilers here xD) and gave your own opinion on the matter, wich I even partially agree with, but there is actually some other reason too. I'm a big fan of the RTS game Warcraft 3 myself and if you want to experience sylvannas backstory and how WoW even came to happen you should definetly play that at somepoint too. It's storybased, full of lore and faster played than the grinding in wow.(yeah I love warcraft and it's universe, but I hate WoW as a game. Only played some time for story/lore)

Before you start WoW, know that it is a VERY complex and overwhelming game. As you know, we are talking about 14 years of content since release and growing. I started my warcraft journey with warcraft 3 and the frozen throne back in 2002. Ever since completing that game, ive driven myself to read on the lore behind warcraft from comics, novels, short stories, animations, etc. its an incredible fantasy world. If not for the lore, i would not still be playing wow to this day. PS: watch the 2016 warcraft film if you want a brief take on the events of warcraft 1 orcs and humans from the 90s

There's also the fact that it wasn't just an 'innocent tree'...the world trees are pretty much symbols of life and nature AND Teldrassil (the tree) was also an island and the capitol city of the night elves. When Delaryn (the dying night elf) said 'why? you've already won. Only INNOCENTS remain in the tree." she was referring to the literally thousands of innocent civilians living on Teldrassil that Sylvanas knowingly burned to death out of spite when she ordered the tree burned. The plan WAS to just invade and occupy the city to use as a bargaining chip because the Alliance wouldn't dare attack for fear of what would happen to the citizens. This (and murdering her OWN civilians in the most recent novel Before the Storm for wanting to stay with their living family members during a reunion)is pretty much what cemented her as an irredeemable monster no different from Arthas (the man who killed her and raised her as undead), and I say this as someone who once loved Sylvanas as a character when she was more complicated and amoral than outright evil.

Her's is not a nice background. She was defender of her homeland, but the Undead Scourge lead by Arthas attacked to bring back someone. She angered him so much that when he finally did catch up to her, instead of killing her he essentially ripped out her soul. This is why she's called the Banshee queen. Its much more in-depth than that, but thats the general gist of it.

The saddest thing about her story is that she has 2 sisters that are alive and they've turned their back on her because they wouldn't agree with her methods (I mean they were not wrong about it, because her methods are cruel and inhuman). Because of that, because of the fact that her own sisters would not understand and accept her, she grew more cold and emotionless and she completely shut down her heart.

Right now it's hard to tell what Sylvanas motivations are right now in the current expansion lore wise, since everyone is speculating she will be another "Garrosh 2.0" who used to been the Warchief of the Horde and he was the main villain in one of the expansion trying to rule under tyranny but the Horde races banded together to over throw him, so some people think Blizzard is heading towards that route where Sylvanas is taking out her hatred against life because she's simply jealous of other life since her life was taken by the Lich King and her goal was to kill the Lich King but ever since we (The players/champions) killed the Lich King, she lost her goal which pointed her hatred which I think now she targets elves and the alliance. But there are other speculations that Sylvanas is actually doing something in the shadows to save the world by painting her self as a villain and inevitably sacrificing herself at the end for her sisters and Azeroth. These are just both speculations the first one is more of what it seems like Blizzard is trying to do in creating like a 2nd villainous Warchief where she becomes both the enemy of her own Horde and the Alliance, while 2nd speculation doesn't really make sense but some people are speculating it to be she's trying to save the world from a greater evil, which doesn't really make sense in what she's doing now, if it did turn out like it, well damn Blizzard you fooled us.

With the end of WoD and start of Legion, I believed Sylvanas would be the ruthless Warchief that would do whatever was necessary to preserve the Horde. While that wasn't wrong, she has unfortunately gone beyond that, to the point where the Horde isn't being destroyed by its enemies, but is instead being destroyed from within. She's become less of a chief and more of a dictator, not caring if she has the hearts of her people, only their obedience. #ForTheHorde #ForSaurfang
