Whew. 13-year old Paulina writes this song. Now nearly 10 years later, they add an all-female string section and Pau lets us in the 8000-strong choir help her sing. One of the most memorable and touching live performances I have ever attended. What a special evening that they captured so very well.

Thank you so much for sharing that incredible background! It's amazing to think that Paulina wrote this song when she was just 13, and now, after nearly a decade, they’ve elevated it with such a powerful live performance. I can only imagine how moving it must have been with the string section and the crowd joining in. Were you there for this special performance? I'd love to hear more about your experience! If you like my other videos, I would be happy to have you as part of my KZbin Family.

@@reylynx I was indeed there as one of the 8000 member choir. One of the most memorable live events I have attended in more than 45 years of concert going. This particular song left nearly all of us in tears of many emotions. They pulled out all the stops for this concert, and everyone in the hall that night walked out with a huge smile on their face.

Pau wrote this song about the struggles of addiction. She captured the despair, loneliness and longing for something better in its composition. “All alone in an ally way staring at my face, in the reflections of broken bottles. Didn’t know I had so many scars…..I thought I had won my different battles…..”. She is a genius. A once in a lifetime talent.

Thank you for your insightful comment! Pau's songwriting truly does capture deep emotions and struggles with remarkable intensity. The imagery of broken bottles and scars adds a powerful layer of vulnerability to the song. What aspects of the song do you think resonate most with listeners who have experienced similar struggles? Piano is the first instrument that all 3 learned. They played classical music recitals when very young before going down the rock path. Pau still writes on piano for most of her songs.

Thanks for the insight! It’s impressive to hear that Paulina wrote "Blackholes" at such a young age, especially considering her condition during the performance. @@reylynx I believe the inspiration for this song in particular was an article about addiction that she read. Fortunately, it wasn't anything personal. They've always had a very caring and supportive family and they've never done any drugs or anything like that.🙂

This song is full of emotion. If you liked Pau on the piano, be ready for the next Pepsi Center video that will come in a few days. The song is Breathe, a song that Pau said she would NEVER play live because it is very personal to her. She did, this ONE time, at the Pepsi Center.

Pau's predilection to crying aside, I believe the main reasons they don't often play this one live is that it's difficult to lug a keyboard around on international tours (at least, at their current level of traveling budget) and also it's a bit older - they'll generally want to showcase their newest music. Not that this has ever stopped them from performing "fan favorites", no matter how old the song is!! They know very well fans love this tune; which is why I think it's rarity live is more logistical than anything else - similarly to "Revenant", because it kind of _requires_ a second guitar player. I'm sure they'd love to play both of them often.

All three had a bad case of flu over the couple weeks that they performed these three 10year anniversary shows. They carried on and it was nearly impossible to tell they were sick. They also performed their version of Enter Sandman with strings. It’s pretty epic. No, doing things ordinary isn’t something they do.

Usually, Pau writes music on piano. She have said that many of The Warning songs have an origin as a piano ballad. As a drummer she is a blast of enegry, but when she sits on the Piano, she lets her more vunerable side to appear.

Just when you think you’re getting a handle on their style of music, they release another groundbreaking original creation. When they released the lyric video to Revenant, my jaw hit the ground.
