Greetings from Fresno, California Wave Potter. Great reaction/analysis/review! This is the 2nd single off of their yet to be released 3rd full-length LP. "We wrote - EVOLVE - about humanity's dangerous obsession with evolving... and how sometimes that evolution leads us to slowly leave our humanity behind. Is this dehumanizing evolution right or wrong?" The Villarreal sisters are amazing songwriters and performers. Each one of their original songs is an a banger. Their second album, "Queen of the Murder Scene", is a concept album. It follows a girl's journey into unrequited love from infatuation and obsession on into stalking and murder, then madness and eventually suicide. It is a masterpiece. It was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2019 Independent Music Awards. Their 1st full-length LP, "XXI Century Blood", is also very good and is packed with many great songs. Their very 1st released recordings are from their 6 song EP, "Escape the Mind"; and it is amazing. Despite being courted by numerous offers from many major record labels, The Warning have stayed independent through the years; relying on crowd funding to finance their projects. They refused to give up creative control over their material ... down to even the clothes they wear on stage. After 7 months of negotiations, The Warning signed a 5 album recording contract with Lava/Republic Records/Universal Music Group last fall. We are all patiently awaiting their 3rd album release. The Warning do not come from a family of musicians, however, their parents are huge fans of classic rock. Both parents are professionals (civil engineer and dentist) and they enrolled their daughters into a private Catholic English speaking school Liceo de Monterrey, Mexico. They also started the girls with classical piano lessons at ages 5, 3 and 5 years old. Regular family functions included gathering around the TV with popcorn and watching LIVE concert dvds of legendary bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen and AC/DC. When their parents got them the video game Rock Band at ages 8, 6 and 3, they went nuts playing it obsessively. A year or so later, they got "real" instruments with lessons from professional teachers: and the rest is history. Amazing they are 21, 19 and 16 years old and have already written and arranged 44 original songs all by themselves! ShaunTrack is a KZbinr with nearly 3 million subscribers. He does the same thing you do; only in Spanish though. 😪 His channel has almost 300 million total views. ShaunTrack uploaded a chronological review of The Warning a year ago that has 750K+ views now. He is giving TW tremendous exposure to his Latin fanbase. The Warning did this while on vacation in Spain. They used his instruments and Paulina is on his electronic drumkit. I really like the mix he did on this while not overplaying on his part. I was fortunate enough to get to meet TW after their show January 16th, 2020 at The Whisky a Go-Go in Hollywood, California. Aside from their music, they are just normal, sweet, intelligent, and fun-loving young ladies who are truely grateful and endearing to their fans. Shaun Track is a KZbinr Like You from Spain, and last month The Warning and their Parents were on Vacation in Spain and France and when they were in Shaun's hometown they got together with him and did this video in Shaun's Studio

Cool. Shauntrack is like you a multi artist. He analyses music, mostly in Spanish. 3Msub. Time signature was 7/8 (or 7/4 as you say) may I commend you for your excellent audio quality on your video as well on your own mic. Good mic gives good result... The Warning changes times signatures quite a bit. That is indeed Shauntrack's studio. The Warning (and their parents) were on vacation in France and Spain and Shaun lives in Spain, so they got together.

I don't think anyone has mentioned it, but they are not playing their own instruments in the Shaun Track video. They were on vacation and are using whatever he had on hand. Not easy, especially for Pau, who depends on her usual drum kit set up. Also, did you notice how fast Ale was playing those bass strings towards the end of the song?

I have always enjoyed the Warning but I think this might be their Band Maid moment for me. The riff after the first chorus that is also used at the end might have me hooked like I was when I heard the first bars of Thrill. Boy does Pau hit those drums hard. Nice! Pau, the drummer, said that the song is in ⅞. ShaunTrack is a huge YT influencer in the hispanic world based in Seville, Spain. They recorded in his studio using his instruments. They were on their European vacation at the time. Pau is playing electronic drums and Dany is playing a Gibson SG. You got the ages wrong. They are 21, 19, and 16.

Thank you. Yes I count it as 7/4 also. I started playing percussion in concert band and orchestra at 8yo. I count it as 7/4, unless the whole rest of the song is in 4/8, not 4/4. The band has said it is in 7/8, but I want to see the sheet music to prove it. LOL. Love this song! I cannot wait to see it LIVE!!!

Great review, enjoyed it! You’re just the 2nd reactor in dozens who noticed the bass harmonies, good ears! The Warning is a live band, sometimes they sound better live than on the albums… here I like the voices even more, lead and backing! They harmonize so good! Great energetic song! I definitely prefer the music video over the jam session. Its good but it makes people bring up the --- "See they DO need a 4th person" stuff. which they DO NOT that is partly why they stayed independent so long, because people wanted to change them at every turn. They had fun atleast.

Agree. Especially because Pau was on a small electronic drum kit, and so couldn't really cut loose. Still waiting to see a true onstage performance. Hoping something from their gigs in November will get posted. Also I admit my preference for the video recording is in sympathy for them. After they spent three solid months of intense work recording their album, I refuse to believe that they could have done better recording impromptu jam sessions with borrowed instruments.

I'm with you on the live session recordings. We get the super recording quality from the modern tech, but the producer are limited like in the oldschool studio recordings. He can't remove the human factor. Modern mainstream studio recordings have gotten such an amount of cut-and-paste, laying and software correction, that I call it the CGI of sound. It sounds impressive, but also kind of artificial. I think Pau's drummer characteristics is atypical and often very high speed fills and a very visual, nearly theatrical drummer style when on a stage.
