This is a live Q&A which took place after a screening of The Warriors at the Historic Texas Theater in Dallas Texas on April 28, 2016. These are the actors (Michael Beck & James Remar) that played the characters "Swan" and "Ajax."
NOTE: this was taken on an iPhone 6 with no special lighting ; you can tell I obviously pushed the lighting after the fact - in my editor (thus the accentuated grain).
Unfortunately, because the video is a little over 30 minutes long & I had a lot to do today, I couldn't spend the time I might have liked to to really tweak It closer to "perfection." :-)
Side note: Know any folks who need voiceover (MAINLY CHARACTERS) for commercial, Corporate, animation or promo projects? feel free to reach out!
ALSO shifting my career over to creating custom ringtones as well as working at producing children's audio storybooks. Also, original music (some of which I released so far) in the Ambient/ New-Age vein (with some dance and techno sprinkled in). Could use a bit of help right now, filling in the gaps. If you might be willing to throw a donation in this direction, here are a couple PayPal links:
www.paypal.com...
paypal.me/voic...
BTW, I have a goal of having 1000+ subscribers. If you haven't subscribed yet, please do.
Cheers out there; I hope you have found or soon find YOUR Wonder Wheel!!

Favorite scene from the movie? the ending. AFTER the last scene, as soon as Joe Walsh's guitar starts the song, showing them on the beach, free and home after the hero's journey has finished. Because that scene, or whatever you call it, was so well done, that was my favorite song for decades afterward.

Thanks for sharing this. I did not know that James Remar came around to upholding his role in The Warriors. I never saw him in the reunions which I was upset about. To see him up here and reminiscing in a positive way about it with Beck is heartening for me. His role as Ajax was one of the best characters that I related to as a teen.

Thanks for the upload.I've met both.But,i'd have to say that James Remar is a class act.My daughter and i just recently met him at MEGACON in Orlando.He had a premium that he was charging for his autograph,which wasn't bad at all.Anyhow,i brought a subway poster for THE WARRIORS for him to sign.He was really impressed with it.While i was busy rolling it back up after he signed it,he had a conversation with my daughter.He asked her name and gave her a signed picture for free! On it he wrote,"To Kaylyn from your friend,James Nemar".My daughter is now his biggest fan! Thanks,James for being unlike any other celeb i've ever met,and for making her(and my)day!

Fantastic question and answer session by these 2 great actors. There is absolutely no way to remake this movie and have it make sense. What I mean is that the movie was made before cell phones and social media. The Warriors were trapped in the Bronx and had to fight to make their way home. Today they would hide out and call some of the other members of the gang or message them on Facebook to come get them. There is just no way this could be remade in the 21st century and it have the same effect of the 1979 movie.

@@patrickverona387 That just gave me an interesting idea: I don't want to give away too much in case others haven't seen the film, but have you seen the film Blade Runner 2049? It's not so much of a spoiler because we learn this at the beginning of the film, but do you remember what happened to Earth's technology (between the time of the first film and 2049)? Hmmmm.... How about something on a smaller scale, where the Internet (at least temporarily - through the time frame of the film) COMPLETELY goes down (at least in New York City) so that even people with satellite phones, etc. cannot access the net - not even Starlink (let's say it's a national or even global Internet shut down) and that actually sparks the idea of some sort of conclave of gangs, where they realize now they have an opportunity to overwhelm authorities, etc. (I suppose power could go out too ... or maybe let's say to be sporadic - so that both the gangs & authorities never know when they're going to have power - adding a very interesting flavor to this modern "Warriors" film). So that's what sparks the movie - the central theme and driving force of the plot of the film - Internet goes out and maybe sporadically the power. But, just like the original Warriors film had enough positivity going on to not make it completely dark, this would NOT be an apocalyptic film. I guess this is a spoiler for the film that I am inventing in my head right now LOL… at the end of the film, society comes back online and now our hero gang (just like in the first film, I think we should have a gang whose members or at least leaders actually are forward thinking and maybe -- I think we can sort of see that this might be occurring in Swan's headspace -- considering leaving the gang life) with this event is accelerating a thought process to potentially... .... Change.... Thanks for sparking an interesting idea, Patrick. Now I'm going to go copyright this s***!! 🙂

@@voicetube Thank you. I appreciate the kind words. Remakes can be good, it’s not often but it does happen. If they did remake The Warriors, with it still being 1979. @@patrickverona387 thanks, man! I'm thinking at least the idea that I dreamed up would not be so much a "remake" but a continuation (ala Blade Runner 2049 - not a remake but I guess you could say a reboot with a continuing story).

Perfect considering their characters rivalries and how they were the playable two in Armies Of The Night. Also, oh my god, Michael Beck hasn’t aged at all, it literally just looks like he dyed his hair white and grew a beard. I must say though, growing up and playing the game before hearing about and seeing the movie, there were aspects of the movie I didn’t like that much compared to the game and I liked the game better and thought the movie was alright at best. The film is one of my favorites. These two were the main leaders in the film. Ajax even wanted to fight him for leadership of the gang but then he gets arrested. That was the only wrong move this movie made. Getting rid of Ajax in the middle. That was dumb. I would have preferred that they fight and one guy wins without hurting the other badly and they then they carry on fighting. Otherwise, the film has held up because of the action and a good soundtrack. It has achieved cult status and has a loyal following because people discover it by chance and then watch it over and over. Long Live the Warriors! Can You Dig It? CAN YOU DIG IT? The crowd shrieks!

These are some REALLY great guys! Very cool..and humble. It sucks that alot of them have since passed. Not that I'd ever want a re-do. Bite your tongue! The movie CAN NOT be improved on! It's a classic! They were right about N.Y. at that time. An old friend took me up, around that time ('79)and N.Y was only like that in the Bronx area. Central Park, 96th street station and Coney Island didn't look that way. It was still cool to see those locations though! It really is a type of netherworld like James Remar said. James Remar is a great actor. I've seen him in many other movies and it usually takes me a minute to remember he's Ajax. He was great in the movie The Girl Next Door where he plays a porn producer named Hugo Posh and then I just watched him play an FBI Director in the movie 2 Fast 2 Furious. He is just great and I enjoy his work. I really wish Michael Beck had done more as well.

That's awesome! Welcome to the family! I'm curious, when you saw the film after having played the videogame, was it better-than-expected, worse than expected or about what you had expected? Also, was there anything in the movie you think they should have put in the videogame and didn't? And was there anything in the videogame that wasn't in the movie that you think would have been cool to see in the movie?

@@voicetube Very good question. Actually, I remember, that I was slightly disapointed when I saw first the movie. Nevertheless, I like it. The game had far more locations and was (as the film) very atmospharical. By the way, 5 years ago I visited all the warriors film locations and filmed a then and now filmlocation docu. Unfortunately, I never did a cut with the filmed material. But I just feel that I have to do that now.

@@TKTnetwork Thanks for your reply. Glad you liked the film, regardless of expectations. As for the documentary you started, I would really love to see you finish that and have the opportunity to view it if you can I think a lot of people would really like that. If/when you do, if you could post a link here, that would be great!

I don't know why ever thought of that but it could have had a pretty awesome sequel (if the original writers work their magic again which is probably almost impossible but not necessarily impossible). It would obviously be difficult to create a proper sequel now unless you had really, really good casting and top-notch crackerjack writer(s).

I agree it would've been great if I could have had them mic'd - unfortunately I had to do this from (luckily) the first row of my ol' iPhone 4. the good news is that I did run the audio through my video editing program and clarify it and boost it up a bit from the original, so it could've been worse I suppose :-)

Interesting … After thinking about your comment for a bit (thank you for the comment, BTW) it started getting me to thinking… You could have a whole movie and/or at least a TV series based on (or maybe centered around) let's say the Baseball Furies and/or the Lizzies, etc. would be interesting to have well-written stories into the hearts, minds and souls of (maybe ALL) of these different gangs that we only caught glimpses of, during OUR beloved film… Interesting indeed.

@voicetube
@voicetube 5 жыл бұрын
@@brotoonstwins Yes, I guess I should've mentioned that - it should definitely be set in that same time period circa 1979. (That way if you have a really good writer(s)/show runner, you likely have a good series right there with some good potentially deep & meaningful material and then on top of that you have the retro vibe, which could certainly add to its potential success.)
