Using my own experience, the cellphone is not as convenient, or personal, as I thought. Setting an alarm on a phone requires a few more (and unpleasant) steps as the device is not ergonomic nor as accessible as the wrist. My mind moved away from thinking that a phone was for convenience and more in line with it pandering to my laziness. And laziness doesn't like extra steps. Is my experience, scientific or logical? I don't know, but that's why I think wristwatches are certainly better at developing a respect for time.

@robertsullivan47734 жыл бұрын
The problem as of late is their pricy as they should be for what your getting. But there value retention as in resale is pretty bad. As we have seen the last few months its nice to have the fine watch on your wrist worth something close to what you paid for it if you have to hock it.
@watchgeek67124 жыл бұрын
@@robertsullivan4773 That assumes you plan to sell your watch in the future or as you described it, hock it. The "watch is an investment" argument is getting old. While JLC is an incredible watchmaking company, there are many watch enthusiasts who would say that Audemar Piquet, Patek Phillipe, Vacheron Constantin, Gerard Perregaux, A.Lange & Sohne and lesser known watch brands like De Buthane and Laurent Ferrier knock JLC out of the park... I disagree. In my opinion; JLC really is the watchmaker’s watchmaker - you can buy any of the watches they currently offer without getting the runt of the litter, at a pretty reasonable price considering the level of quality, finish and innovation you’re receiving. If I was to win the lottery tomorrow, JLC would be my first stop-off for a truly flawless dress watch. A JLC is never a bad purchase.

And perhaps AP doesn't belong there and hasn't for some time now. The top 4 in my opinion are: Patek, Vacheron, A. Lange & Sohne, and JLC. I will admit a problem here, though: JLC's finishing (movement-side in particular) does not match up with that of the other 3, it just doesn't, and so I always find myself wanting to put JLC up there with Patek and Lange but I just can't, they don't really belong there.
@lettuce13054 жыл бұрын
@@LanguagesWithAndrew yup that's right, the reason JLC is not up there with the 'Holy Trinity' is because of the level of finish and prices.
